I'm curious if anyone's priest or bishop has addressed this whole Pachamama thing, or really the Amazon Synod in general? Nobody in my diocese has talked about it. Now, granted, I don't really hang out with any other Catholics (not by choice), but I've literally heard nobody discuss it in real life.

That's not to say it isn't important or we're blowing it out of proportion, more that I'm concerned that it might be ignored or suppressed in my diocese.

None - I straight up asked out priest and he wasn't following it at all.

I found many clergy don't follow what's going on in their own Church. Or they catch wind of what's going on and have two choices - stay as ignorant as possible (look the other way), or research and confront things.

I think for a while things were changing so fast that it was just bewildering for them as for us. We get to shoot our mouths off a bit but they are expected to be more careful. I cannot imagine that it hasn't been a shock to most priests and bishops. But now they have to address it, condemn it, correct it, or the archbishop Cupich sorts who endorse it will rule the day.

Is our church at war within? Has it been infiltrated right through its ranks?
I do think it has been infiltrated. Not that infiltration explains absolutely everything. By the way, the Russian Orthodox Church has been infiltrated by the Soviets, and they haven't entirely healed from that yet.

When bishop speaks against bishop and cardinal against cardinal, yes, there is a war within. But then there have been several such wars in the Church, including back in the days of Arius when good bishop Athanasius kept getting exiled, going to Rome, and being reinstated. That war took more than a century to finally win.

I see.

It seems to be really bad these days though.

I hate to talk bad about the church or the clergy. But, one cannot hide from whats going on in front of our very eyes?

On the other hand we cannot whitewash it. Particularly when the bad guys use our reticence as cover for perpetuating their little mafias, as they do. We are in a time where ripping the scabs off is the way to drain the pus and clear the infection. It's not appealing, but without draining the abscesses the patient will become febrile and die of blood poisoning.

OBOB Statement of Purpose
OBOB welcomes non-Catholic guests who wish to fellowship or ask respectful questions.
Definition of a Fellowship Post

It is not:

It is not debate.
It is not apologetics.
It is not answering questions related to the beliefs of the group.
It is not teaching in any way on any issue

It is:
Essentially Fellowship is defined as a discussion of topics of association, of companionship - i.e. discussions of things like friends, family, work..... these are fellowship posts. And posts that genuinely offer friendship would certainly be described as fellowship.

Is our church at war within? Has it been infiltrated right through its ranks?

This reminds me of Pope Paul the Sixth who said the smoke of Satan had entered the Church:

...We would say that, through some mysterious crack—no, it’s not mysterious; through some crack, the smoke of Satan has entered the Church of God. There is doubt, uncertainty, problems, unrest, dissatisfaction, confrontation.

Source

and left us will this prayer:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Gently, please. These people in the thread are known to us, and are probably just as baffled as we ourselves are at the turn of events. I haven't read anything here that would say otherwise about our guests.

Thank you for your vigilance.
It is both appreciated and useful under normal circumstances.
But as many of us have now realized, these are not normal circumstances for the Catholic Church.

And as a "head's up" for staff, we will all probably be seeing more well-meaning inquiries about what is happening in Rome in the days to come, than we would normally expect to field in a year.

May God bless all our staff.
I think it was more about proselytizing, not the thread topic. The posts have been cleaned up.

If anyone would know what was happening, Michie, then you would.
In these days we need and appreciate all the ecumenical friends that we can find.
It was an ecumenical friend who suggested it was time to join their friendly community and leave ours behind. It wasn't a question or in fellowship, which would be just fine and we should be happy to have those. Had I posted anything near what he posted I would have been flamed to a crisp in their forum in ten seconds flat.

Did that ever stop Jesus?

He carried His message to everyone. His Disciples reached the known world in their time.
His instructions were to go two by two (that they might have both support and a witness) wherever they were invited, and to stay in one house for the duration of their stay.

If they were received, then they were to bless the house. But if they were not received, then they were to shake the sand from out their shoes, and take the blessing back.

As I said, when you did not receive them you missed an opportunity sitting right before you. For they came here of their own volition, and you had the opportunity to receive them for Jesus' sake, to minister kindness to them, to disabuse them of their ignorance, and to gift them with the truth of Christ.

I am sorry that you missed the opportunity.
