This video is worrying for me as it makes me wonder what is going on in the Vatican? At the very top of our church? Listen to the video and let your views be known.

I really dont know what to think.

What is being idolized?

I really don't know what to think.
Pope Francis has some serious 'splaining to do. And some big repairs to make. I think the Vatican needs an exorcism and big housecleaning.

My computer does not do videos well and aside from that I prefer text.
You may have missed the whole Pachamama thing then, when at the Amazonian synod in Rome idols of this goddess were prominent in the whole synod. Somebody threw the idols into the Tiber, the police recovered them, and the pope apologized to anybody offended by throwing them in the Tiber. He identified them by name as Pachamama. At the close of the synod they had a Pachamama offering bowl on the altar in St. Peter's. It's a big deal. Thousands of Roman Christians went to their death rather than offer a pinch of incense to idols. Now Pachamama is worshiped at the HQ of the Church. We're irritated beyond measure.

Thanks for the explanation of this situation. I'm aghast at this behavior of this Pope. He's apologizing away mortal sin and confusing people in the process. Maybe he's jumped on the "tolerance" bandwagon that's corrupting the morals of this country and around the world. If he doesn't repent of these sins, he needs to be replaced. (I don't know if that's possible, but he should at least be corrected by his peers.)

He has been questioned by his peers but he refuses to answer in any meaningful way except by passive aggressive homilies full of name calling. Continued prayers for him and his minions.

Sounds like 1 Timothy 4:1 is happening in this case.

4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

The time has long been that you can't rely on the Vatican as a teaching authority consistently. Look at the Charismatic movement - much goofiness came from and is mixed in with that. Our local bishop still promotes it. It's been pushed for decades. And many poor folks have been tricked into bad ideas about speaking in tongues and being slain in the spirit.

This is in some ways worse as it's straight up idolatry, but some ways better as it's easier to pinpoint the error.

I'm curious if anyone's priest or bishop has addressed this whole Pachamama thing, or really the Amazon Synod in general? Nobody in my diocese has talked about it. Now, granted, I don't really hang out with any other Catholics (not by choice), but I've literally heard nobody discuss it in real life.

That's not to say it isn't important or we're blowing it out of proportion, more that I'm concerned that it might be ignored or suppressed in my diocese.

as for a priest or Bishop addressing it, while this was happening in Rome, we had a "gathering of Bishops" happening at the same time in the U.S.A.

So any official reaction by the Church in the U.S.A. will probably be slow in coming.
