Fair enough. Can I guess? Sure. Can I know? Nope.
My dad was a career officer who did 100 combat missions over N. Vietnam. He told me they did not like the war. They were passing around a copy of the book, “Catch 22.” They wanted to go home to be with their families. He was rewarded for his combat service and promoted. He retired with a military pension and benefits. No I am not dead. I am still alive having this conversation with you. I do have a very good friend that served in VietNam as a Marine. Only he recently hung himself so he is not alive anymore. I was a medic and I was in training to put dead bodies in body bags. They said it was ok to put extra limbs in a bag. No one cares and no one is able to sort them out.
If you want to sort the arms and legs out go ahead and give it a try. I was trained by the Army not to do that. So give it your best shot and good luck with your attempt to get it all figured out.
I am by the way, still a veteran. Meaning I was discharged under honorable conditions. Only I believe in the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. I believe we are to love our enemy and do good to them that want to do harm to us. That for me is what it means to be a Christian. But everyone has to be faithful to God to do what they feel He is calling them to do in life.
I am glad to be an American and I respect the people that want to war and made the sacrifice they did for me to have the freedom I have to believe what I believe. They were willing to sacrifice themselves even for the people that they do not agree with. To give them the freedom to have their own opinions.
I watched Heartbreak Ridge the other day, and THAT showed true sacrifice and heroism.
That is what I meant. That is one of the best movies of all time. Also recommend Hacksaw Ridge.
Unfortunately, I'm not surprised at what Don Jr. said. I truly feel sorry for Don Sr.'s kids.

Most people who do enlist do so not out of wanting to fight a war but to serve their country. It's not their decision to go fight wars. The ones who make the decision to fight in a war aren't the ones who fight it.
It makes no sense that people would want to do harm and injury to each other like that. My father served our community for 50 years as a pediatrician. He stitched up a lot of cuts and set a lot of broken bones. If we do what we can to avoid accidents then how much more should we do all we can to avoided armed conflicts between people. I do not even understand why people would want to harm and injury each other like that. I do not understand why McCain would want to drop napalm on what looks to me like innocent children and babies. Whatever they are doing I refused to be a part of it. There maybe a time, there maybe a place for war. But Vietnam did not seem to be the time and place because one day they all packed up and went home and gave up on fighting the war there. The soldiers left behind a drug and prostitution problem so that they Vietnam government had to go in and clean that mess up after them.My dad was a career officer who did 100 combat missions over N. I have seen not everyone behaved heroically in war. War in and of itself is the result of hatred and violence. I remember the My Lai Massacre.
Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 80 when they gave birth to Isaiah. He turned out a lot better then Ishmael the son Abraham had with Hagar. The older we are the more we know and understand and that makes us better qualified to raise children. My sons are 20 years apart and the younger one takes life a lot more serious then his older brother did. Even though they are both engineers so their education is comparable.I would like to be hopeful for Barron
The Soviet and Maoist revolutions did not make sense either. Many Christians died in Soviet Siberian labor starvation prison camps (gulags) during the time of Stalin, because Lenin and Marx wanted an atheistic Communist revolution. It makes no sense that people would want to do harm and injury to each other like that. I feel sorry for them because they are still trying to earn their father's love.To add - I do feel sorry for the now-adult Trump kids when they were kids but not who they are now. I think Donald Jr. in particular is a hedonistic bully and hypocrite who replicates the worst traits of his father.
I feel sorry for them because they are still trying to earn their father's love.
Oh, I don't admire him at all, just pity him. There are people who feel sorry for their father because they believe he has spent his life trying to earn his father's love. Donald Jr, Ivanka, and Eric Trump are now in their middle years, with children of their own. Donald Jr. in particular is inflicting upon his own children some of the trauma of his childhood, a public and acrimonious split from their mother, and flagrant infidelity before his divorce was finalized. The major way he deviated from his father's pattern is that the woman he committed adultery with is older than him, almost a doppelgänger to his stepmother.
I admire those who decide to turn their wounds into wisdom instead of allowing those wounds to perpetuate a wounding cycle.
Oh, I don't admire him at all, just pity him.
