Off the subject, but this reminds me of a visual that came to me on Sunday morning as we gathered for prayer. The brother next to me was lamenting about the deeds he wanted to accompany his faith. Quoting James, "faith without works is dead." As we went to pray a visual came to me.
I imagined sitting in an automobile driver's seat. I could there understand that the windshield (windscreen) represented faith, the view ahead of us. And the rearview mirror was where the works were seen, in retrospect. Therefore, it is not for us to look forward through the windshield to "find" (create through the flesh - wood, hay, stubble) works to do, but rather to realize after the fact that they were the works God had led us to by our life of faith. Therefore, if we put the automobile in drive, the works will appear along the way. Those are the works (gold, silver, precious stones) we should be about.
Interesting visual S S.
Brings to mind a favorite verse and classic song of mine:
Acts 2:17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
Roger Hodgson co-founded Supertramp in 1969 and was the driving force behind what fans call the 14 golden years of the band. He wrote, sang, and arranged the enduring rock standards that made Supertramp a worldwide phenomenon with album sales in excess of 60 million. Roger not only gave us “Child of Vision,” but also other timeless classics

Elements/vessels of the flesh.......
Mat 10:28
'And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able
both soul and body to destroy in the gehenna.
Rom 9:22
What if God, wanting to show
His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering
the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,<684>
Gal 4:3
Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.
Gal 4:9
But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how
is it that you turn again to
the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?
Is the GREAT CITY in Revelation symbolizing the LAKE OF FIRE?
Revelation 18:
8 Thru this in one day shall be arriving
Her blows, death and sorrow and famine.
And in fire She shall be utterly burned, that strong Lord the GOD, the One judging
Her.
11 And the Merchants<1713> of the earth are lamenting<2799> and mourning<3996> over
Her,
that their cargo<1117> no one is buying anymore.

ROMAN SIEGE AND SACK OF JERUSALEM
The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
Proof that Matthew 24 was fully fulfilled in 70 AD!

History records few events more generally interesting than the destruction of Jerusalem, and the subversion of the Jewish state, by the arms of the Romans. -- Their intimate connexion with the dissolution of the Levitical economy, and the establishment of Christianity in the world ; the striking verification which they afford of so many of the prophecies, both of the Old and New Testament, and the powerful arguments of the divine authority of the Scriptures which are thence derived ;
Of the Jews destroyed during the siege, Josephus reckons not less than ONE MILLION AND ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND, to which must be added, above TWO-HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SEVEN THOUSAND who perished in other places, and
innumerable multitudes who were swept away by famine, and pestilence, and of which no calculation could be made. Not less than
two thousand laid violent hands upon themselves
