Saul (what a sawwy king he was.....the people chose a "king" to "replace" the living God, so God allowed it and they got exactly what they deserved, just like when the people complained about the manna that God provided for them in the desert, and wanted quail, soooo God sent it, and it was not a "blessing" but a curse, that they brought on themselves. So was Saul a curse. They had a God-less, evil, psychopath RULING over them. He even was going to kill his own son Jonathan for some senseless reason until the people intervened, saving Jonathan's life.)
