Sorry to keep posting on your thread, lol. I'm just remembering my greatest dog ever. I bought a female shepherd from working lines from Germany. When she grew up I talked to a professional breeder/trainer who imported his studs from Germany and sold trained working dogs, and we bred some litters (under his guidance - he was the professional). I kept her best pup. And he was the greatest dog - my best buddy for over a dozen years. I regretted never having any other dogs from those lines.

I have been disappointed by American lines and what has happened to the breed here. My last pup was certainly beautiful, and he started out well (except for the strangest aversion to "down" lol) ... he was my farm dog. But watching his personality degrade even at a young age was so sad.

It's good to hear of similar breeds not ruined for the sake of exaggerated aesthetics.

Some of those Dutch shepherds are gorgeous. I fear I couldn't do more than agility training and games anymore though.
