They want Hunter Biden and the Whistleblower -- but why?

Hunter Biden lacks any direct knowledge of anything that occurred in the Trump White House, and hence he cannot rebut evidence of Trump’s demand that Ukraine interfere with our election. By Republicans’ own admission, the whistleblower lacks first-hand knowledge of events. (“Witnesses who testified out of public view have corroborated the crux of the case against Trump — that he pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his political rivals — so the Democrats see no need for the whistleblower, who heard the story secondhand, to testify. Three career State Department officials are returning next week for the public hearings.”)

Does the GOP have any witnesses who can testify to the facts? Does the GOP have any facts to testify?

There was one other person on that list that hasn't already been interviewed, Alexandra Chapula. I think they want her to prove that the Ukraine did interfere with the election with the DNC.

Chalupa has denied that she was working for DNC officials in Ukraine during the 2016 election.

They want them because they are the primary sources of the abuse of power pertaining to Ukraine. Going to the source. Won't help the willingly ignorant, however.

Hunter Biden has no reason to know anything about what happened in the White House. And the GOP's narrative has been that the Whistleblower had no first hand knowledge.

Seems that neither of them are going to get to the source of Donald's alleged abuse of power.

The republicans just want to try to turn the enquiry into a circus, waste time to prevent the facts from coming out, & complain its all just a witch hunt. They aren't interested in discovering the truth, because I suspect they know that Trump really did what he's accused of.

This is one of those times you should consider my opinion as an objective opinion rather than partisan.

If you get Hunter on the stand, you can get him to make a mistake or incriminate himself.

With the whistleblower, there is no way of proving who wrote that document or if a signature is taken under duress without asking the person. Also, all Americans have the right to face their accusers. Including a mob boss where the terrified witness has to look right at them, and point them out for the court at times. The other thing is, it should come from the individuals mouth, and corroborate with what was written.

Seeing as this is not an investigation into Hunter Biden, I believe this is a perfect example of a perjury trap. Y'know, that thing that Trump supporters scream about every time someone mentions getting Trump on the witness stand. Except in this case, it actually is one.

Whether or not Joe and Hunter Biden broke the law is irrelevant to Trump's impeachment case, since the issue is not whether or not an investigation was necessary, but the methods by which Trump went about arranging it.

The bringing up of Hunter biden is a key issue for the dems. It was a supposed targeting for no other reason then to smear the father that is running against Trump. Evidence could be brought to light that was in the President's purview that could substantiate reasoning for why Trump wanted Biden investigated. Having Hunter on the stand as this is presented to him would be interesting to watch. I believe that is what they would be going for.

You might have a point if anyone had testified that Trump had information to that effect (actual evidence, not just hearsay). But they haven't.

And even then, it still doesn't justify bypassing the DOJ and withholding congressionally-approved foreign aid to get an investigation. If he had evidence that Hunter Biden broke US law, he sold have gone to the AG. If he had evidence that he broke Ukrainian law, he should have passed it on.

Even if the Republicans were to subpoena the Bidens and the Whistleblower to testify before the House and the Senate, what's to stop them from simply following the example set by the President and his surrogates and refuse to appear!

Apparently the President may have trouble introducing his own witnesses to support his case before Congress until those individuals whom he instructed to ignore the House's subpoenas decide to testify!

Hunter is not being investigated for any crime. Donald is.

The Whistleblower's attorney will no doubt attest to the authenticity of the answers. I doubt they would risk disbarment, disgrace, and criminal prosecution by attempting to defraud the US government...

Which Donald will get at his impeachment. This is just an inquiry.

When Donald is hauled into court, he too will receive the same courtesy.

If you want me to treat your opinions as objective and not partisan, I would have no choice but to assume that, rather than making excuses, you honestly didn't know that Donald is not yet on trial, and that the Confrontation Clause of the Sixth Amendment applies absolutely anytime, anywhere...

Would you prefer that people thought you were genuinely unaware of such basic facts?

Repubclians have always had witnesses who can testify the facts. Donald Trump told them to ignore their subpeonas, but they absolutely could have ignored him and done it anyway. The only way to prevent any of them from testifying to the facts is an executive order - which is unconstitutional, of course.

They have all of the facts. That is why the Democrats have been issuing subpoenas for some Republicans. I know this because obviuosly Republicans are the ones committing crimes.

I don't know exactly what you are asking... but whos thumb print is on the lighter? Whos credit card was used to purchase recently emptied gas cans found on scene of this hypothetical fire? 911 has already responded. Now we have an active crime scene. Put Eric Ciaramella on the stand.

All this guy did was report his concerns up the proper chain of command and let his superiors do the investigating. Wanting to out him or grill him in public is more than a little disgusting.

I want him to testify under oath, and have his day in court. Don't talk about disgusting proceedings after Kavanaugh. As the Democrats have often said: 'If he is innocent there is no reason he can't answer some questions'.
