Genesis does not at any point say Adam would live forever,
Genesis 3:22 says Adam must not be allowed to eat from the tree of life and live forever, and God even placed cherubim to prevent his re-entry to Eden after being banished. I don't understand your take-away from that verse at all, it clearly implies that he would live forever if he ate from the tree.

Now you're getting there. So if he didn't eat from the tree he would die, right?

Now tell me how it is possible that he would die if death did not exist. Remember, God did not create the tree of life after the Fall, it was already there. If you needed to eat from it to live forever, death must have already been a possibility.

Death existed from the minute he ate of the 'tree of the knowledge of good and evil' and you're scrambling.

No, you're avoiding. God threatened Adam with death and we've already established that you need to eat from the tree of life to live forever. All of that points to the fact that death must have been a possibility and therefore the claim that death did not exist is, at best, specious.

Of course it was a possibility, but that doesn't mean it existed (occurred)... why do you think the 'tree of life' was there?

Take a moment to think about what you're saying:
1. God threatened Adam with something that didn't exist and which Adam, therefore, could not conceive and would not have had a word for.
2. God created a tree with fruit that allowed the eater to avoid a non-existent thing.

Your whole argument has deteriorated to "death didn't exist because nothing had died." Apart from being an unsupported assertion, it also does not demonstrate that death did not exist. Allow me to, yet again, repeat my question: how can anything die if death does not exist? Even the first thing to die requires death to exist in advance of it dying.

By extension, how can you meaningfully threaten somebody with something that doesn't exist, they have no concept of and have no reason to have a word for?

And lastly, why create a fruit with an antidote to a non-existent problem?

I always assumed before I understood evolution that it was the tree of life that kept humans living forever, also why after they stopped eating from it people lived shorter lives mostly, it was the influence of the tree going away heh.

Which supports my position that death existed. Avoidance of death does not equate to death not existing.

Thank you.

We find out though from the Bible, not from assumptions, that that is not what the tree of life did, nor its influence.

Let me shorten this discussion: Blah blah blah, God didn't threaten Adam, he only told him he would die which isn't a threat blah blah blah.

That's an incredibly weak argument. If God had simply warned Adam, you would have more of an argument. But Genesis 3:11 says "Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?" A command is not a warning. Any implied consequences following failure to obey a command are a threat.

IF I saw my own child, or anyone else, heading down the highway towards a 200 foot drop at a bridge that was out,
and warned them that they would die if they drove down that highway over the bridge,

there'd be no threat in that at all.

God NEVER threatens anyone. He simply tells you what will happen.
