Some questions about hell.
Most of the time, "hell" is from pagan myths/ mythology. This is the nature of mankind to promote their ideas including about heaven and hell.

However, Biblically, the truth is revealed IN SCRIPTURE, and in the original is not called "hell" like it is in English anyway. As Jesus Says, we must leave everything to follow Jesus, including all the world's meanings and uses of things.... i.e. turn to Yahuweh, for His Kingdom is now at hand, today.
See in His Word the Truth, unchanged and unchanging eternally, with RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE and JOY in Him, all freely and without measure by grace given to all who are born again in Jesus.

Former Atheist and near death experiencer Howard Storm reported that the hell that he experienced was filled with people, he assumed former humans, who seemed to have been stripped of all positive human emotion and were seriously into sadism and inflicting pain on others.

Here is the one question I have about hell: Is it eternal, annihilating, or remedial? Does God torture, destroy, or re-create? (I'm pretty sure I can pull passages to support all three)

Whatever the case, I don't intend on finding out.

Hell is a place or weeping and gnashing of teeth. A thoroughly not pleasant place of pain, torment, punishment and fiery heat and no water and no mercies. It is somewhere under the earth. It can only be there as it is nowhere on the earth's surface, it is not in the heavens. And is in scripture talked about as a pit, bottomless pit, beings descend into hell, also mentioned as the lower parts of the earth. They ascend into heaven. No one ascends into hell.

These are the 3 main existances for beings to be at or go.
Philippians 2:9-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Here is some scripture commentary on hell.
Word study on weeping and gnashing of teeth | CARM.org

Matthew 13:41-43 New King James Version (NKJV)
41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

How would you like that job, to cast the wicked into hell. To see and hear all the wiling, weeping, the screaming tormented souls and the teeth gnashing. I have read the souls of the damned grind their teeth on each other, biting, etc... I dont know.
These wicked jews were getting ready to gnash their teeth but only eventually on each other in hell where they were heading.

Acts 7:53-55 New King James Version (NKJV)
53 who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.”

Stephen the Martyr
54 When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,

...

If hell means the place that is also called Gehenna, Bible tells:

…Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works. Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:12-15

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matt. 10:28

I believe it exists and is a place where soul and body are destroyed. And I believe, what is destroyed, doesn’t feel anything anymore.

John MacArthur gives a really good description of hell in the Youtube video of his message on the topic.

Is there a hell?

Most definitely.

What is the nature of hell?

State and place of suffering and punishment.

Is it temporary or eternal?

Eternal.

Is it (painless) annihilation?

Of course not.

Is it (painful) annihilation?

It is not annihilation in any sense.

Is it conscious torment?

Most definitely.

Is God present or active in it's administration?

Absolutely.

Who or what governs hell?

God.

Are there natural laws of hell if God is not present?

I believe it was the man in my avatar, Martyn Lloyd Jones (or it may have been Jonathan Edwards), who said there will be no moral restraint by the hand of God in that place, we will be fully given up to our total and complete depravity, destroying ourselves with it.

Does he administer hell from a distance?

God is ever-present (omnipresence).

Is there fire there?

No. It is metaphorical language to describe the horrors of that place.

Do people have physical bodies?

There? Of course, after the resurrection.

What senses are possible? Sight, hearing, taste, touch, smell?

All are present there, and in complete anguish and suffering to the highest degree possible.

Do people see the fire or smoke?

No, as far as I know.

Yes. That is an excellent sermon on the topic. Puts hairs on the spiritual chest.

Sounds like hes trying to sell a book to me! Since he didnt actually die, it is very unlikely he went to hell!

This is a free country.......
if you want to look at his work that way.... that is your choice.

But although I do tend to be naive I have a little bit of discernment and
I am more than a little bit impressed with the calibre of his interviews
that he has allowed to be all over the internet.

Matthew 5

30

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

And John MacArthur knows all about hell how? Has he been there?

I became an Atheist at about eight years of age
after being taught Evolutionary Theory in school and after having
been offended by hellfire and brimstone sermons.

In 1972 and 1973 I became attracted again to the Bible through
a group that taught Soul Sleep because at least it seemed humane.......
but later on in 1990 I went through a pretty serious philosophical crisis when I read
near death experience accounts that totally contradicted what my denomination taught.

Dr. George Ritchie's Near-Death Experience

His Experience of the "Receiving Station"

Jesus then takes Ritchie to another realm and is shown a kind of "receiving station" where spirits would arrive in a deep hypnotic sleep because of a particular religious belief they held to be true. Here there were "angels" trying to arouse them and help them realize, "God is truly a God of the living and that they did not have to lie around sleeping until Gabriel or someone came along blowing on a horn." These are the spirits of people who believe they must sleep in their grave until the second coming of Christ (i.e., soul sleep.)

He probably knows about as much as we do. He merely teaches what the Word of God says about hell, who is likely to end up there, and how to keep out of it. He is a very thorough Bible teacher and puts much time and trouble into making sure that what he teaches is as true to the Scripture as he is able.
