Pitter patter
What’s the matter?
Life is full of
Empty chatter.

Wishful thinking
Lights are blinking
While men’s lives are
Deeply sinking.

Throes of idols
All asunder
While men’s anger
Sounds like thunder.

World a turning,
Fires burning,
While men’s hearts are
Barely churning.

Much confusion
Lacking vision
Christians not on
Holy mission.

Worldly matters
Makeup chatter
And will end in
Much disaster.

Holy mission
Not God’s vision
But of man
And television.

Do you notice?
Look at lattice
And then you’ll see
What’s in practice.

God’s not silent
When you’re violent
He is speaking
And He’ll triumph!

I am a bit stumped on this portion.
Lattice (thesaurus): framework, web, network, pattern, structure, matrix, prevailing conditions, atmosphere, agendas, organization, the action of building, mess, maze, etc.

Basically, if we don't notice all these situations mentioned in the poem, we need to look at and pay attention to the conditions around us, the agendas of groups of people, the organizations of humans, and the prevailing conditions of our society and the church, as a whole. Be aware of what is going on around us in the church, in the world, in our governments, in education, etc. Then, we will see what's in practice, what is being carried out as a matter of routine, procedures, and methods of accomplishing things, like hidden agendas, etc.

Does this help?

My thoughts exactly on that line. The rest is really quite?...thought-provoking. Thank you for sharing Sue. You're so very clever!
Just in case you don't read my response to tall73, here is my response on lattice:

Regarding your comment, Royal Priest, with regard to my cleverness, honestly, it isn't my cleverness at all. When I sense the Lord has a poem for me to write, I just open up a blank Word document, and sit and wait and pray for the words, and then the words just come and all I do is write them down and then I post them. So, I had to look up the word lattice, and when I did, then it made sense. I actually looked up a couple of the words or phrases before I totally understood the message. But, then it made sense.

Thank you for your encouraging words. The poem is a "thinker." And, that is one of the ways in which I know it is from God and not from me. My poems, the ones I used to write of myself were always just straight and simple, very plain. So, he has been stretching me by giving me some poems that require a little thinking. So, yes, this one is thought-provoking, for sure. But, there is a lot of meat there.

My wife and I belong to a Spanish-speaking church. The entire ministry is in Spanish. Although the preaching and teaching ministries are excellent, we've found that many of the hymns in Spanish are not of the same caliber. It is especially sad since most of them are poor translations of hymns that are actually very good in English. My wife is gifted with poetry and has been working to correct and enrich their theological substance. She has even translated some English hymns that were not available in Spanish such as I need Thee precious Jesus and Whate're my God ordains is right. This is daunting task, but many of our brethren from other Spanish speaking churches have conveyed to us the urgent need for this work in their ministries as well. We are currently working on publishing a hymnal in Spanish.

Wonderful! Words are so important! Yes, we need the deep truths of the old hymns. Good work!
