No, it isn't. The House is not empowered to subpoena everyone in the opposition party--or in the entirety of the USA--simply to play out some game of looking like the members are actually investigating something.

Have you ever considered the fact that playing games cannot be proven or disproven without subpoenas?

Donald keeps claiming that the call, all his actions in re to Ukraine, all perfect. Folks in his base just gobble up that claim, smelly and fishy as it is, lol. Yet Donald goes to such extents to keep those with knowledge about that call, his actions, quiet. Yet some folks in his base, they still gobble up the lies.

And you would have Trump mimic the proverbial potted plant till this is over?

I would have Donald comply with the law.

Wouldn't you?

If Trump’s call is so perfect, why doesn’t he shut Schiff up by marching into the House going under oath and testifying himself? Don’t let other people get to try to smear him. Testify himself, just make sure it is televised so the whole world can see Trump show to everyone, especially Schiff how above board the call was.

Congress has subpoena power in all of its deliberations.
This is not an impeachment hearing, it is merely an investigation process to determine whether or not they have any evidence to file articles of impeachment. Until this is official... you might go back and look at the law on this one.

Because challenging someone face-to-face requires more courage than he can muster... Donald prefers to play "tough guy" from the safety of Twitter.

That can’t be right. You have to file articles of impeachment before you can get subpoenas so you can fully investigate to know which articles of impeachment to file? That makes no sense.

That doeesn't matter. Virtually anyone can be alleged to be "central" to something or other, particularly when there is no crime to investigate and all the evidence is already in the hands of the committee.
I cannot believe the audacity of Trump supporters. To claim that anyone can just defy this kinda stuff.

UnAmerican and shameful. There has not been a politician I have EVER worshipped to the point where I would think for EVEN A SECOND, that I would be ok with (let alone feel righteous in) their defiance of law.

If a pot dealer on bail misses a court appearance, what happens to them?

That does matter, Ken Rank: Congress has the right to subpoena. Go back and check the law on this one.

Who says so? Your argument makes no sense. Impeachment inquiry has passed the vote. The Rules are laid out. Trump will comply.

This is not an impeachment hearing

It is not a special peach-colored impeachment subpoena. It's a Congressional subpoena, which Congress can use for any matters before it.

You can read the rules for Congressional subpoenas. The word 'impeachment' does not appear at all.

Committees' subpoena power is defined thus: "The authority granted to committees by the rules of their respective houses to issue legal orders requiring individuals to appear and testify, or to produce documents pertinent to the committee's functions, or both."

John, did you read the current impeachment rules yourself?
They control the inquiry not an 'impeachment.' The procedures of the Intelligence Committee, which is spear heading the first series of procedural investigations is not laid out yet, as I understand it now.

It's not supposed to make sense... it's supposed to protect Donald from being held accountable... and more importantly, protect his followers from accepting that they were wrong about him.

No, he won't, because he's placed himself above the law.... and his followers cheer, because what choice do they have?
