Do you reject the Sermon on the Mount as being applicable today?
If so, then what verses lead you to that conclusion?

No, friend. Christ knows we will sin. But the aim is still love, and this continues. So now I’m curious why did Jesus day if you love me keep my commands? If he didn’t specify doesn’t that mean if we miss even one then that means we don’t love him according to that scripture? Thanks for any insight
Paul says "...let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." (2 Corinthians 7:1).

I'm curious as to what you make of the parable of the Wedding Banquet in Matthew 22:1-14
Thanks
Jesus Christ and His righteousness.
Matthew 22:1-8 is God punishing the Israelite nation as a whole for their rejection of the Messiah before salvation went out to the Gentiles.
Matthew 22:9 is referring to the Gentile inclusion into God’s plan of salvation (Seeing Israel as a nation rejected their Messiah).
Matthew 22:10 was the invite of Gentile guests (and or any remnant Messianic Jews) both bad and good (Note: “the good and bad” is similar to what we see mentioned in Matthew 13:38-39 and Matthew 25:31-33).
Matthew 22:11-13 talks about how those New Covenant believers who did not have on a wedding garment, they were cast into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth (Note: Gnashing of teeth is what wolves do).
So what is this Wedding garment that they did not have on that led to their unhappy ending?
Jesus Christ and His righteousness.
"... clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and do not obey your flesh and its desires." (Romans 13:14) (ISV).
In Revelation 19, when the marriage of the Lamb is come, we learn that the fine linen that the saints are wearing is the righteousness of the saints.
"And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints." (Revelation 19:8).
1 John 3:7 says, "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous."
1 John 3:10 says, "In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother."
Romans 13:12 says, "“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”
Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. For as He who has called you is holy, so you should also be holy in all manner of conversation because it is written: “Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-16).
What does to gird up your loins mean?
It is in a way to cover your underparts, but also to expose and free up the legs so as to properly fight. The analogy by Peter here is that we need to fight against sin.
Matthew 22:14 says many are called but few are chosen. This is exactly what it means. Narrow is the way and few be there that find it. The popular view in Christianity teaches that you can sin and still be saved on some level by having a belief alone on Jesus. But those who meet the requirements in being the chosen will have everlasting life and they will not be cast into outer darkness. We see in Matthew 25:30 whereby the unprofitable servant is cast into outer darkness. So things will not go well for those who disobey and or who justify sin in some way. For Jude 1:4 warns against those who turn God's grace into a license for immorality. But God's grace teaches us to deny ungodliness, and that we should live righteously and godly in this present world (See Titus 2:11-12).
The Sermon on the Mount was a commentary on the Law of Moses. Some Jews, especially the Pharisees, had established their own righteousness. Lord Jesus was pointedly telling them that it was not good enough. He told the disciples that they needed a righteousness better than the Pharisees. No man will be justified by the works of the Law. Jut obeying the Law is not enough. It is necessary to follow the spirit of the law. Only One has achieved that, Lord Jesus. Now if we will be led by the Spirit, we will indeed be pleasing God. The Law is made redundant. There is a new law, the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. No longer is it a set of rules to follow, it is a principle to live by. We are both led and empowered by Christ to fulfil God's righteous commands. I've tried both legalism and being led by the Spirit. Legalism is a curse and a blight. Shun it.Do you reject the Sermon on the Mount as being applicable today?

Right. And the intruder at the banquet was clothed in his own robe. He thought it was good enough. That represents fashioning our own sufficiently.

That is the point of that sermon. He is revealing how it is NOT possible to do these things fully and why the new covenant, and the writing of the law on the mind and heart by God, is needed. That doesn't mean, by the way... that we don't strive to do these things, it is just an acknowledgement that until the writing is complete, we will fail from time to time.Men like Bryan Denlinger rejects the Sermon on the Mount as being applicable today. He says that the Sermon on the Mount applies to the Millennial Kingdom because you cannot possibly obey all of the things on the Sermon on the Mount.

Hi I went to a Catholic high school and they had banners of how the golden rule was in a lot of other faiths other than Christian and it seemed like they were holding this idea of do unto others taught in the sermon on the mount as some interfaith ecumenical glue. A guy named Martin LLoyd Jones wrote a long book on the sermon on the mount and it is incredible. The sermon on the Mt is much like parables where people can spin it how they wish so I voted other. If you want to understand the sermon better check out Jones book.Do you reject the Sermon on the Mount as being applicable today?
