John 5:24 Good News Translation (GNT)
“I am telling you the truth: those who hear my words and believe in him who sent me have eternal life. They will not be judged, but have already passed from death to life.

There is a sanctuary in heaven, the true tabernacle that the Lord set up and not humans. In it Christ ministers on our behalf, making available to believers the benefits of His atoning sacrifice offered once for all on the cross.

At His ascension, He (Jesus) was inaugurated as our great High Priest and, began His intercessory ministry, which was typified by the work of the high priest in the holy place of the earthly sanctuary.

It is a work of investigative judgment which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin, typified by the cleansing of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary on the Day of Atonement.

In that typical service the sanctuary was cleansed with the blood of animal sacrifices, but the heavenly things are purified with the perfect sacrifice of the blood of Jesus. The investigative judgment reveals to heavenly intelligences who among the dead are asleep in Christ and therefore, in Him, are deemed worthy to have part in the first resurrection.

In regard to the OP ...

It also makes manifest who among the living are abiding in Christ, keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and in Him, therefore, are ready for translation into His everlasting kingdom. This judgment vindicates the justice of God in saving those who believe in Jesus.

It declares that those who have remained loyal to God shall receive the kingdom. The completion of this ministry of Christ will mark the close of human probation before the Second Advent. Leviticus 16 Numbers 14:34 Ezekiel 4:6 Daniel 7:9-27 Daniel 8:13-14; Daniel 9:24-27; Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 2:16-17 Hebrews 4:14-16 Hebrews 8:1-5 Hebrews 9:11-28 Hebrews 10:19-22; Revelation 8:3-5 Revelation 11:19 Revelation 14:6-7 Revelation 20:12 Revelation 14:12 Revelation 22:11-12

When Jesus returns judgement has taken place ... in the meantime those who have accepted Christ and continue in Him have the assurance of their salvation now ... have the assurance they will not experience eternal death (2nd death) while living their earthly life ... know that judgement of them will be in their favor and will not suffer the 2nd death.

Daniel 7:22

The saved will have been judged and declared/presented as innocent (covered by the blood of Jesus) and will not receive the final judgement of the 2nd death ... because we are in Christ. This is the first resurrection that happens when He returns.

Matthew 25:31-46 J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS)
The final judgment
31-33 “But when the Son of Man comes in his splendour with all his angels with him, then he will take his seat on his glorious throne. All the nations will be assembled before him and he will separate men from each other like a shepherd separating sheep from goats. He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left.

34-36 “Then the king will say to those on his right ‘Come, you who have won my Father’s blessing! Take your inheritance—the kingdom reserved for you since the foundation of the world! For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was lonely and you made me welcome. I was naked and you clothed me. I was ill and you came and looked after me. I was in prison and you came to see me there.”

37-39 “Then the true men will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you food? When did we see you thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you lonely and make you welcome, or see you naked and clothe you, or see you ill or in prison and go to see you?’

40 “And the king will reply, ‘I assure you that whatever you did for the humblest of my brothers you did for me.’

41-43 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Out of my presence, cursed as you are, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels! For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink. I was lonely and you never made me welcome. When I was naked you did nothing to clothe me; when I was sick and in prison you never cared about me.’

44 “Then they too will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry, or thirsty, or lonely, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and fail to look after you?’

45 “Then the king will answer them with these words, ‘I assure you that whatever you failed to do to the humblest of my brothers you failed to do to me.’

46 “And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the true men to eternal life.”

John 5:24
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

In simple language, the investigative judgment is a process whereby Christ verifies to the onlooking, unfallen universe (symbolized by the embroidery of the angelic host upon the walls of the most holy place of the earthly sanctuary) that those who have perfected their characters (not their sinful flesh) by truly accepting Him as Lord and Savior (determined by an evaluation that will be plainly understood by all, as demonstrated by Him Who knows and sees all), after having been given glorified minds and bodies and also having the awareness of what the first rebellion cost the Son of God as born by the everlasting witness of His scars of the wounds for our transgressions, shall never allow rebellion to arise a second time. This is the edge that it was impossible for Lucifer and Adam and Eve to have.

The plan of redemption is a thorough quarantine and salvage operation, perfectly disposing of the problem of sin and evil.

Matthew 25:31-46 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
The Son of Man Will Judge All People
31 “The Son of Man will come again with divine greatness, and all his angels will come with him. He will sit as king on his great and glorious throne. 32 All the people of the world will be gathered before him. Then he will separate everyone into two groups. It will be like a shepherd separating his sheep from his goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the king will say to the godly people on his right, ‘Come, my Father has great blessings for you. The kingdom he promised is now yours. It has been prepared for you since the world was made. 35 It is yours because when I was hungry, you gave me food to eat. When I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I had no place to stay, you welcomed me into your home. 36 When I was without clothes, you gave me something to wear. When I was sick, you cared for me. When I was in prison, you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the godly people will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you food? When did we see you thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you with no place to stay and welcome you into our home? When did we see you without clothes and give you something to wear? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and care for you?’

40 “Then the king will answer, ‘The truth is, anything you did for any of my people here,[a] you also did for me.’

41 “Then the king will say to the evil people on his left, ‘Get away from me. God has already decided that you will be punished. Go into the fire that burns forever—the fire that was prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 You must go away because when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat. When I was thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink. 43 When I had no place to stay, you did not welcome me into your home. When I was without clothes, you gave me nothing to wear. When I was sick and in prison, you did not care for me.’

44 “Then those people will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty? When did we see you without a place to stay? Or when did we see you without clothes or sick or in prison? When did we see any of this and not help you?’

45 “The king will answer, ‘The truth is, anything you refused to do for any of my people here, you refused to do for me.’

46 “Then these evil people will go away to be punished forever. But the godly people will go and enjoy eternal life.”

A Basic objection comes from the Nature of God who is all knowing.

Jesus being God is all knowing and would not have to keep records.

Many early churches rejected the book of Revelation as Scripture because the image of Judgement there contradicted Matthew 25 picture in last post.

It was not until around 400 CE that Revelation was confirmed by the Church in an Council to be Scripture.

It is more likely that the passage in Revelation related to the Judgement is figurative.

No one denies in general here that I know of that there will be a final judgement.

OK, The Atheists here would reject it. I do not know if there are universalists here and that if they reject it.
