‘The Trump Prophecy’ Is a Horrifying Window Onto Evangelicalism

On Tuesday morning, a post about a movie called The Trump Prophecy happened to cross my social media feed. The film, which was produced in cooperation with the film department at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University and made with the help of a small army of Christian film students, tells the “true story” of a retired firefighter from Florida named Mark Taylor who claims to have dreamed that Donald Trump would one day be the president of the United States back in 2011.
There was a screening that night in Seattle, so I went and checked it out................

But therapy alone is not enough to stop Taylor’s dreams, which increasingly involve CGI demons with bodies of fire and devil horns. During one such dream, he has the flash of inspiration that leads him to write his “Commander-In-Chief Prophecy” in his dream journal. This takes place in 2011.............

What matters is how they believe God is using him, likening his role to that of Cyrus the Great, a Persian king who conquered Babylon in the 6th century BCE, allowing the Israelites to return to Jerusalem.
Trump’s support of Israel is a recurring theme in the film, particularly his role in moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem — an action that evangelicals believe is a necessary bit of staging for the immanent apocalypse....................

The last half hour of the film is a documentary designed to rally the Republicans’ evangelical base: a tear-jerking montage of veterans and their family members holding old photographs and folded flags,...................

The Trump Prophecy is a piece of political propaganda disguised as a film about faith, and not a very interesting one at that.
I was honestly expecting something weird and unhinged, and left the theater feeling shortchanged by a movie that somehow managed to make wrestling with a CGI demon seem boring.
But when I got home and googled Mark Taylor, I got all the weirdness I was expecting from the film and then some.

Mark Taylor originally said Trump was going to be president in 2012.
But that did not happen.

Here is just a sampling of his other failed prophecies:

Taylor prophesied that Barack Obama would serve a third term. Defending his objectively false prophecy, he now claims that Obama is running a “shadow government,” and his prophecy indeed came true.

Taylor said,
“There will be no ‘Blue Wave.’ A lot of people are talking about a ‘Red Wave,’ but it’s actually going to be a ‘Red Tsunami’ is what the Lord is showing me,” he continued.

You can hear Taylor talking about the “red tsunami” during interviews right here and right here.

Obviously there was no “red tsunami."

He has got to be a false prophey like those of old. The way he flatters Trump is inconsistent with the Word of God and grossly inaccurate with regards to Trump.

A better prophecy, and hopefully more accurate, is that we have all heard the 'last trump'

It is very wicked to say these words if God has not spoken. Im not against prophecy (or interpretation of tongues) but this is a serious abuse of the spiritual gifts.

Please my American brethren; withdraw your support from 'evangelical' churches and organisations who dishonor the name of Christ in their support of Trump.

The enemy will say Israel, Israel, what about Israel? For Israel will be protected by America once again.
