So apparently 2 dozen GOP congressmen just forced their way into a closed hearing of a CIA expert on Ukraine claiming they were being denied the truth. This was a hearing that already included many of their Republican colleagues. They also brought cellphones into the classified area.

Absolutely transparent and ridiculous nonsense. Trump will love it.

Were there no GOP in the hearing?

Reinforce Capitol security and arrest any congresscritter who does this stunt again.

Yes there were plenty of Republicans in the hearing.

It is a stunt that to make it look like they are shut out, when they have members on the committees holding this close door interviews. They really don't want this to become public, they want it to be shut down.

Lol what a couple of spanners. I'm struggling to imagine something so utterly absurd happening in another country.

The point was there are the meetings being held in private, when everything should be public, and they are right. Their attempt to go in was to further reinforce the reality of the privacy imposed, with the exception of the lies the Dems are choosing to 'leak' to sway public opinion.

Glad to see you noticed. Guess it worked.

No, SeventyOne, you are wrong: the GOP is represented on the committee in the hearings.

The GOP will not be allowed to continue their coup against the Constitution, checks and balances, and separation of powers.

The past two impeachment inquiries were also conducted in private - initially..

All prior impeachment inquiry votes have failed. This is not an impeachment inquiry, but a coop, hence the speed, privacy, and propaganda.

In essence, what the Dems have done here is made it allowable for a Republican Speaker and a few committee chairs to dig until they find anything they disagree with by a future Dem president (God forbid), call it an abuse of power, and then try to kick him out. And the Dems will either have to fall in line in order to not be hypocrites, or oppose it and expose this current coop for what it really has become.

I seem to remember that the President and Barr that the public only get a redacted version of Mueller's report.

The Pres can struggle along with his GOP lackeys all they want, but the law is inexorable, and they are in its grip.

You and your comrades are dead wrong. The coup has failed. You are all in the grasp of the talons of the law now, particularly the President.

Please don't break the law.

Please don't be violent at any time.

The reckoning is beginning.

When the Mueller hearings were open, the whining was about it being all for show. Please make up your mind.

Did anyone point out that the actual trial, if it comes to that, will take place in the Senate?

The Republicans need to decide whether they're going to let Trump go down by himself ... or whether they're going to go down with him ...

The impeachment inquiry into Nixon was NOT public interviews of witnesses. There were months and months of interviews, document gathering, etc. and only 7 days when there was a public hearing and 6 of those were over a year from when the inquiry began.
So I'd suggest being patience it will all come out. The Republicans and Dems. alike will make sure of that.

The U.S. Constitution gives "sole" authority to the House of Representatives to conduct an impeachment inquiry. However you describe it is meaningless.

Why would it all be public? Is there any example of a similar procedure being carried out entirely in public? What would be the benefits of that?

I don't think anybody cares. The outrage appears to be about the Democrats having the audacity to even think that the Chosen One could do anything wrong.
