• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I got religious ocd and afraid to be condemn. I have pass the intrusive thought, vows, blasphemy, sold a soul and having a nightmare about my ocd. And I have overcome all of that and ignore it.I think it was my ocd. But now my fear develop to hearing voices. Also I afraid of coincidences. I think I have heard somethings likes "Don't go to.... or else you will be condemn. And the night later, I wake up and my thought pop up thinking that Go to.... or else I will be condemn. I afraid that God is saying to me. I don't want to be condemn, but I don't know I should go or not. Do you think it's godsaying that to me, or it just my anxiety?
For more information, I used to have sleepparalysis and hearing voices likes scary laugh but it dissapear.
In that night, which I hear a voices, Some phrases or syllable of my thought be in audio sound of different voices. But suddenly this sentence pop up in sound after my audio thought dissapear for a while.
Pray for me to choosing right decision.
*Actually, Go to...... is my dream and it so meaningful for me.
*Sorry for my bad english.
*This is my first post, I don't know if I have post it correctly or not.

Hello Grace, great name by the way. Can I assure you that God is on your side? He loves you and He is not interested in condemning you. It sounds like you are under attack from Satan. If you have accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour, there is no condemnation for you. God has justified you because you trust the Lord Jesus as your Saviour. If you have sinned (and who has not?) all you have to do is confess your sin. God will forgive you on account of the precious blood of Christ that was shed for you.
God does not speak directly into your mind. He will also never contradict His word, so if you are being condemned, be assured that it is not God. May I suggest that you read Romans 5, 6, 7 and 8? There is much in those chapters to reassure you concerning forgiveness and God's love for you.

It's important that you have your conscience educated by thoroughly reading and understanding God's Word. Pray to God for understanding and that you'd receive the knowledge you need to live blamelessly before Him. Along with that, evaluate fears of condemnation based on God's Word. God doesn't give random or subjective direction and send people to hell for not following it. He sends people to hell for holding onto sin and refusal to follow the clear direction of His Word which we all have the ability to know and follow. Seek Him with your whole heart and obey Him in what you do understand for certain- and you will then know you are right with Him and have confidence before Him.

It is important that you clear your heart before Him by confessing and renouncing every and any way that you know of where you have sinned against Him. As you do that call on the Lord Jesus Christ to wash you clean from your sins by His precious blood and to guide you in the path of Truth by teaching you good understanding of His Word and enabling you to be faithful to His Word. From there walk in the light of His Word trusting in His mercy AS you are under His authority through His Word. You can thereby have your fears subsided and be delivered from unreasonable fears. Call on Him and trust Him with a willing heart- He is good and He will do you good ultimately if you'll do that and continue in that. He loves righteousness and Truth; He is not a promoter of superstition and He is not the author of confusion- and the Bible even says He is not the author of confusion in 1 Corinthians 14:33.

All that God wants from us is honesty. An honest sinner can and will be helped. I don't know if it is the real you making the vows. If it is, then it is sin. God will forgive as you confess. If you are being lied to by the devil, then God understands that too. We do need to take responsibility for our words and actions. However, God is gracious and merciful. He loves you and wants to set you free. Ask Him to help you through this difficult time. Confess that you are helpless and totally dependent on Him. It's the strong and self sufficient who get no help from God.

If you are trusting in Jesus for your salvation you are not condemned, but are already a Child of God, with a place prepared for you in Heaven.

Jesus knows your struggles with OCD, intrusive thoughts etc, thank him that he has forgivenyou for any sins your OCD causes you to do or make you think you have done.

Friend, know that (1) God loves a contrite heart and (2) we are not saved by any kind of work that we do, nor by the might of our will, but rather from beginning to end by the person and works of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is, salvation is not a quality or a thing inside of us that we have to hold onto, but true and living faith is brought about by the Holy Spirit, which is trust in Jesus Christ and God's promise of salvation.

Don't be anxious about your salvation, but take comfort in that Christ has paid for it in full. As we read and study God's Word, we continuously see how grave our sins are, but it doesn't stop there, for we always see how great the forgiveness of our sins are. And in this way, we are sinners and saints at the same time. We are sinners according to our flesh - the old Adam - but declared righteous because of faith in Christ. So when God looks at you, He doesn't see you, but He sees you fully clothed in Christ.

Whatever evil thoughts or ideas you may have had, they are all nailed to the cross.

What do you think that sound from?

If you're struggling with a decision as to whether or not to go live abroad for a year, perhaps this will help:

A: If you are bound by commitments that you would need to break if you were to go, such as if you have some serious responsibilities in your home country, it would be better to stay. This could be things like, if your parents strongly disagree with you leaving, or if you're providing for someone and they are dependant on your support.

B: If you don't have any particular big responsibilities, but have the option to travel abroad for a year, you are entirely free to do so. You can travel with a clear conscience and without sinning against God or your neighbour.

When discerning God's will for our lives, we have to be careful about looking inwardly or to things around us, for we can be assured that God's will for us is clearly spelled out in His Word. To put it very simply: Outside of the Ten Commandments - or to condense it even further, to love God and to love our neighbour - we have Christian liberty to do whatever we like! So whatever the voice or feeling is, it's not of God and you don't have to be troubled by it. Instead, read God's Word and seek advice from pastor/priest and your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

No problem! God is always with you and He will never forsake you or leave you. He's with us on our journeys. If you would like to go, and if your family is supportive of you becoming an exchange student, that's more the reason to go! I don't know the specifics about where you may be going, but generally speaking, to live in a different country is good and educational, and it can open up for new opportunities.

Would you think that sound is from God?

You need to discuss this with your doctor/therapist about how you are currently coping with your ocd and how you will cope in a strange country, customs, languages, foods etc etc etc.

Will there be anyone where you would be going who could help you with your ocd?
Wopuld you be able to take with you any medication you need to treat your ocd.

Lastly what would happen if your ocd was out of control while you were on this exchange?

Sometimes I worried about that too butactually I think I can handle it. I have been Ocd about 8 years since I was a little kid.And I only told my family about this. Noone around me knows. I can control myself normally when I'm with others. But the problems I worried is about the sound I heard.

I got religious ocd and afraid to be condemn.
Wrong feelings and cruel thoughts can seem very convincing. But Jesus loves us and wants us to have "rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:28-30)

So, keep on trusting God to give you peace about what He really wants you to hear from Him.

God does make things clear with us. So, trust Him to make things clear.

If you go abroad, you can meet Christians who will help you. And you can learn more English. And know that God brings us to better than what we thought He was going to have us doing :) He enjoys surprising His children.

And now you have us praying for you. You are not by yourself!!!
