Yes, however, I think you have answered it by the post that followed on where you alluded to "folk tales", when discussing something like the Holocaust, a historical factual event.

There is nothing else to say, thank you goodnight.

Goodnight.

I would like to add though that by folk tales I was referring to the passed on word of man not the actually event in question. People can say whatever they want, doesn't make it true but I'm not a historian so I leave it to the experts.

Dave instead of engaging in the matter soberly, you introduce ridicule through the folly of extremism which everyone agrees with anyway. In so doing you throw out the baby with the bathwater and promote a bondage to scripture that God never intended, and in so doing bind up folks to legalism. As a result of this the living conversational relationship with Jesus is bought into disrepute, and believers are robbed of a vital walk with Jesus that withesses His Glory. No wonder the church is largely ineffective in demonstrating Jesus to the world when this sort of theology is being pushed.
If scripture thoroughly furnishes us, God does not speak vocally to any claiming he does.

Actually at Mt. Sinai the Lord did speak vocally, audibly, to the ears of the terrified Israelites below Mt. Sinai while He gave them the 10 Commandments. The Bible also says He will not alter what goes out of His mouth. So it seems helpful to see if what He said is conforming to what our mainstream Churches are teaching.

I should have been more precise. I'm referring to many today who claim to hear him speak in their heads or audibly.

The punishment is stepping aside and letting us reap what we sow, cause and effect of living a life of self interest.
The examples I gave were visual, tangible, quick.
God does not punish. He merely steps aside when man refuses to do His will. The result is man expanding on their own will which always leads to these atrocities.
What you say is true sometimes. The Bible says we reap what we sow. But that isn't the only way He has things to operate. He, Himself, when He chooses, is seen in the Bible to directly and sometimes instantly punish people. In those cases there was no time for sowing and reaping. Just instant catastrophe.

I already cited some examples. There are quite a few more in the Bible.

Hebrews 10:28-31 “Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Matthew 25:46 “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

In the list of Bible verses given in the link here, the word "chasten" is being used, and chasten is a synonym for punishment. If anyone doubts that the Lord Himself punishes, I suggest they really look into the Bible more deeply, with search words like "God's punishment....God's wrath...."

73 Bible verses about Punishment, By God

Well, okay. But who are we to presume that the Lord never speaks to anyone audibly today? Can you give any data to support that belief? Remember, Yahushuah, aka Jesus is "the same yesterday, today and tomorrow." Paul heard his voice on the road to Damascus. Paul was just a mortal like us, and one who started out terribly, too. (And btw, he had no authority whatsoever to do what the Scriptures strictly forbid, namely adding to or subtracting from them, as with changing the 4th Commandment or anything that the Almighty ordained. But with deep research into the Bible we see he wasn't trying to do that anyway. As Peter said, Paul can be difficult to understand. See Acts 21 in the KJV and research first century historians on the lives of the early believers. But I digress.)

P.S. The Bible talks about words of knowledge and words of wisdom. I have experienced them over and over and have been able to reality check them. For example, years ago out of the blue I was inaudibly told to pray for someone that he would not be hurt in a vehicular accident. He was someone I barely knew, and who was nowhere in my mind, too. Well, I did pray. Within a month I heard that he had been in his van when it was overturned. But he was not hurt.

Countless people hear from the Lord all the time. They know what I am talking about. He WANTS to talk to us. The Bible says "You will hear a voice behind you saying 'This is the way. Walk in it.'"

I would say His favorite way of speaking to us is to correct us from our sins, most of which we don't initially think are sins.

Now we are also to "discern the spirits". Messiah warned us about "the voice of the stranger." So He is saying that the devil speaks to people also. We have to pray to be sure it ain't him, or our imaginations. We can all be fooled sometimes if we are not very careful.

Only crazy people, or the deceived with hyperactive imaginations hear "god" vocally if as Paul says, scripture thoroughly equips us.

Now you're the one claiming a lot of things without any evidence. Be consistent.

The Scriptures never say that only crazy people hear from or those with hyperactive imaginatons hear from the Lord. We are also not to insult people on this forum.
