It would be a great blessing if only everyone that came here legally was hard working, humble and freedom loving. I would assume that the vast majority of that group that do come here legally are indeed that way. Additionally, they respect the laws of the country so they can be trusted to remain law abiding. I would be skeptical of how much of a benefit they would be to their new country if they did not have respect for those laws right from the start but as they have proven to be trustworthy in the first instance they are called upon to show their trustworthiness, I feel more confident in assuming they will remain trustworthy going forward.
There you go with your assumptions instead of empirical data and conclusions.

The actual count is a little higher than Cuccinelli's 22 million. Credit him with not inflating anything. But there shouldn't be any doubt about it not being the proverbial 11 million that is always cited and has been cited for as long as I can remember.

Obviously, when over 1 million have crossed the border in only the last 9 months, the total is not going to be 11 mill forever!

No doubt at all about the credibility of less than 11 million illegals in the country.

Probably less than that.

The vastly inflated report of 22 million is simply ludicrous, and the American public is not falling for that nonsense.

The study described the empirical data it used. Did you happen to look at the study?[/QUOTE
You have not. If you did, you could "point to where the study said that."

Ken Cuccinelli cites 22 million illegal immigrants, nearly twice previous tally

President Trump’s top immigration spokesman on Wednesday said that there are potentially 22 million illegal immigrants inside the United States, nearly twice the estimate regularly cited.

Ken Cuccinelli, the acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which handles the legal immigration process, said the number comes from a study done by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Hope President Trump is going to get on this.

I have looked at the study. It seems clear that you did not. (To be fair though, you haven't claimed that you did.)

Again, the study used empirical data. If you know what empirical data is and look at the study, that becomes obvious.

that a study has empirical data does not mean that an accurate empirical conclusion has been made, and nighthawke has not been able to show that such occurred.
So, now we're just attacking the accuracy.

Thanks for clarifying.

Because why should we want to make sure a study being cited to justify official government policy is actually accurate.

The truth of the matter is that nobody knows how many illegals are here. Not even the illegals themselves know the true figure. I have seen estimates of between 10 and 30 million, though 11-12 million is the most common number.

Of course. Your statement about it being scientific or accurate has no proof. You won't show it because you can't.

Nor can any other study.

The one thing which is absolutely true is that this most recent study uses current data. The much older studies which are frequently cited used, well, much older data.

This study admits that it is flawed, yes, and thus cannot contradict the older data.

It WAS the most common figure years ago. It cannot be correct today, even if you are right that the exact figure is not known to the border patrol or any of the other agencies that track these things.
