Feeling Grace and His Holy Spirit

I'm interested in surveying how people experience saving grace and the Lord's Holy Spirit.

I have vibrations in my nervous system to the point where most of my nervous system is quite literally dancing for joy. Other times I feel Him give me an insight after meditating on something or He sends an answer my way through some other activity. But the tingles of my nerves are quite indescribable. I get that feeling when I am in the presence of greatness and by helping others and being Christ like. I get the feeling when I feel Our Father giving me deep insights that I cannot say are individually inspired.

I'm just wondering if others feel this too and if they know they did something wrong when that feeling subsides for a time.

Sometimes a hymn gets me in that right spot. It's the words digging deep into me. I stop singing because it gets me choked up (and I ain't about to cry tears of joy in front of God and everybody, haha). But yeah, sometimes I get a sense of joy and I can hardly stand beside myself.

Exactly. I like to say it's like when you are at a concert and everyone is singing together and your hairs stand on ends and you have goosebumps times a zillion.

I cry too. The crying is awesome too. And it's followed by laughter and happiness.

I would say that generally describes what strange physical gift I seem to have been given when praying to or guided by the Holy Spirit (and of course I am always sure to recognize whether it is Him or not by my taking the words of 1 John 4:1-3 at face value). I like this. And I think 1 John 4:7-21 really typifies the spirit of the Holy Spirit and so if you feel it when you are practicing lovingkindness and compassion and mercy you can believe it is Him and not the spirit of the antichrist. And you can basically spot those false prophets by the sum of their actions and behaviors, which is to say we all sin and all are imperfect but the sum of our actions and behaviors should tip others off that we walk with Him and He resides within us for we are all, each of us, a child of God.

I imagine the Spirit would not manifest His presence in our lives and hearts in completely the same ways for everyone. But we can be sure it is Him so long as these moments exhibit His fruit according to Galatians 5:22-23.

So awesome. Thanks for all the citations. Just further reminder that He is our Advocate and loves us and wants to be with us.

I find I get closer to the Holy Spirit too when I deprive myself of certain earthly pleasures or rather displeasures (gluttonous eating, marijuana, nicotine, masturbation); He came back into my life in a real tangible way when I cleared the highway for His return in me. Now I am working on being kinder, less angry, with less malice toward others, more forgiving, less wrath, more mercy, less slander and obscene language and more humility, patience and meekness. I'm also working on being more thankful and just expressing gratitude and going that extra mile not just for God but for others in my daily life.

But you are right, we likely all experience Him differently like where some will have visions, others will hear His voice and still others will have a gift of speaking and being taken by Him so that any who listen can hear The Word right through him.

I love Jesus and what He did for me so I can be closer to Him.

It is how I try to let my very being be guided in all things, by a face-value reading of 1 John 4:1-3, ever since the Lord graciously healed me from a severe case of religious OCD that made my life absolutely miserable for a solid eight months at one point several years ago. And the times I have failed in this and sinned, I recognize the Spirit by His admonishment, rather than the constant condemnation and terror as I felt during that awful time of obsessive compulsive disorder.

I have this tendency too. I got 1 John 4 on my mind now evermore. New Christian here so tons to learn but I am picking up quite a bit thus far. Thanks again, Sarah.

Paul also talks about how Jesus doesn't want us to worry or be anxious.

To me, this now means God is never silent, but He is quiet in His love. So, if He changes me to be quiet with Him, I will experience sharing with Him, all the time, and this will be while we submit to His personal leading in His peace.

I have to learn this. I could learn to be quieter and have my alone time with Our Dad. He likes when we are quiet.

I had to learn this over the past couple of days. I was being very judgemental of others when I clearly had no place. But He still loves me and so He provided a couple of insight while cutting the cord slightly to let me know He was serious. I love Dad so much. He is the kindest disciplinarian I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know.
