Bishop Joseph Garlington (from Promise Keepers) said once a leader from his denomination growing up quipped that only 7 or 8 people from all of time and eternity would actually be saved and end up in heaven. So not even half of the biblical authors would make it.
I do not understand why anyone would think or remember that bishop, nor ever quote him..... perhaps as a negative example, or some other type of example ?

He was part of Rev Charles Simpson's ministry organization back in the 1970s and early 80s. I saw him frequently at CGM regional and national meetings.

I do not remember if his title of Bishop was from the AME or the COGIC denomination.

How is being surrounded by lost souls who won't be saved, better than finally being in the life to come, resurrected, with all the souls who are saved by Jesus ?
Dunno. I was responding to Bro David Gardner who said that leading people to Christ was better than making it to Heaven.

Hi
That is entirely up to the Sovereign Creator, and His Judgment.

There are from Scripture different crowns awarded, by the Father or by Jesus,
so that indicates possibly different rewards, but not based on man's understanding - rather fully based on the Perfect Understanding, Wisdom and Plan of the Father.

Remember the worker who works for the last hour only, may be paid as much as the worker who works for a full day, as illustrated in Jesus' Parable. It is not based on merit nor on man's accomplishments as seen by men, but on God's Perfect Choice - He Does as He Pleases.[/QUOTE

Do you think God has favorites?

What definition of “favorites” did you just say yes to?
No particular definition yet. Said yes in general. That is, the way people see what God does, it may and does or could "appear" to them that God has favorites. After all, He CHOSE ONE NATION, ONE PEOPLE, and left the other nations without Christ and without hope in the world, until Jesus was born ....
NOW, He CHOOSES only a FEW.... to be saved. Some people attribute that (in error) as God playing favorites, I think.

How does that differ from playing favorites?

God's grace through faith is the only thing that gets you into heaven.

Lack of God's Grace, and no faith is the only thing that keeps you out of heaven.
Yet God is Gracious even to the unrighteous. This does not get them into heaven, but He Is Still, and Always, Gracious, even when executing His Wrath upon the transgressors who are judged guilty.

Would their reward be the same as one who led thousands of souls to Christ?
The more works the more reward. Getting into Heaven is the same for everyone. If they have been a Christian all their life or if they have a death bed conversion.

God made everyone differently and thus will have a different rewards from one another. The main thing is to obey God and to listen to His direction He has for your life. Look at Moses, he was afraid to speak due to stuttering and yet God called Him to speak. Aaron became Moses' mouthpiece if you read his story.

There are many examples in the Bible about the calling of God and distributing rewards. Jesus Christ shares a parable about talents in Matthew 25. It really comes down to what He has us do and if we obey His voice and follow through. :yellowheart:

If just getting into Heaven is so great, how can it get more rewarding than it already is? Do you get better food if you lead a more fruitful life?

"Does everyone who winds up in Heaven get the same reward?"

No.

Rewards have to do with our good works DONE IN CHRIST BY GRACE & bearing fruit for God, both in character & in seeing people come to Christ & acts of loving our neighbors as ourselves.

Key passages are I Cor 3:1-10; Eph 2:8-10; Matt 25:14-46; Matt 10:42; Mark 9:41; Matt 5:19; Prov 31:31; Luke 7:28, etc.

Jer 17:10 I am the LORD who searches the heart, who tests the inner depths to give to each person according to what he deserves, according to the fruit of his deeds.

But Heaven is blissful for everyone in it, right?

Does everyone who winds up in Heaven get the same reward? Let's say a Christian who truly believes, but hasn't managed to help lead another soul to Christ. Would their reward be the same as one who led thousands of souls to Christ?
Some get responsibilities in heaven like the 24 elders.

Revelation 4:4
And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

Now those crowns of gold indicate authority bestowed upon then along with the seats they sit on and their proximity to the throne.
