I’ve been praying the same prayer to God night after night. Unfortunately, God always ignores me and refuses to answer my prayer. In fact, I didn’t attend church today because I prayed my prayer last night but didn’t receive an answer from God. He ignored me, so why should I go to church if he is going to treat me so poorly?

So here is what happened. God told me he would get rid of an extreme problem in my life if I were to do a request. I didn’t want to do that request, but I did it anyway just recently. It’s been like a week since I did as God required of me, but the extreme problem in my life still exists. God didn’t keep his word and get rid of it. Not only am I highly offended that God didn’t keep his word, I’m even more offended that God isn’t answering me when I ask him why he won’t keep his word. Please don’t write back and say God will eventually do it, just on his time, because this extreme problem has been going on for 8 years, and no end seems like it’s in sight.

Please pray for me and ask God to keep his word and get rid of the extreme problem in my life. Please pray for me and ask God to quit ignoring me and tell me why he didn’t keep his word.

It is a dangerous thing to say, “Thus says the Lord,” if it does not come directly from the scripture, the Holy Bible. There are two different ways of being guided. One can be normally guided by the scriptures, or specially guided by a supernatural revelation or vision. But if you are not walking according to the real will of God as revealed to us in the scriptures, don’t expect to receive from God a supernatural revelation.

Having said that I must also add that the sound of silence can be deafening. I have learnt from the Word of God that there are several times when God is silent in our lives. When God is silent, it is probably because He is putting you through his practical training school. When God is silent, perhaps it is because He is trying to teach you something or some truth about yourself that you need to know in your relationship with Him. When God is silent, perhaps He wants to see how you can really trust His words and promises (not just when the sun is shining, but even when the rain is pouring). When God is silent, perhaps it is because He loves you so much, and that He wants you to rest confidently in His love. Sometimes, God waits until we become quiet, so He can speak or work on our behalf. And sometimes, we may never understand “Why” on this side of heaven but we can still trust that His plans for us are for our good.

You can't make demands of God; and God doesn't meet us on the terms of "I'll help you so you have reason to serve me." We already have reason to serve Him- He made us for Himself, we are on his planet breathing His air, and all our powers are from Him. We are obligated to worship Him, serve Him, and live for His pleasure no matter what He does or doesn't do for us. He did not make the promise you think He made, though perhaps another entity posing as him or posing as an angel of him did tell you such a thing. The true God didn't though and it is perilous to take an extrabiblical revelation and say it's from God. I'm praying you'd come to your senses and justify Him and cease standing in judgment of Him.

BTW: I've had some big problems myself which have continued for several years. It is not easy bearing big problems. God cares for us in our pain, but we only make things worse for ourselves when we fret against Him, entertain expectations His Word rightly divided doesn't give, believe unfounded guarantees of ease, and make ultimatums of Him. Focus on doing what He demands of you in Scripture. That is our only hope for eternity anyways, and in doing that we can at the very least save ourselves from many unnecessary problems and be confident of His favor on our lives even when He doesn't the things for us which we hoped and/or expected.

1 Peter 5:6-11: "6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. "11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
