This looks interesting and, if the facts are as alleged, looks really bad for this officer and the Chester police. link

She said everything started they day before, on Oct. 1, when Officer Pasquale Storace III arrested her sons and nephew for loitering while they were playing in her front yard.

"The gentleman were taken to jail, they had high bails placed on them. The families scrambled to get their money together, they were able to get them out the next day," she explained.

When the young men, who are black, were released from jail, they were greeted by family members on that same lawn where they were arrested. Kevin Mincey, the family's lawyer, said that's when officer Storace, who is white, showed up and decided to re-arrest them as well as several other members of their family.

This same thing happened here except the five young(black) men did not get arrested, but were given tickets for loitering in their own front yard. It got thrown out of court and the officer was fired.

Ughhh. Reminds me of the Dave Chapelle stand-up bit (do not Google it unless you can stand strong language) about black people getting arrested for being in their own houses if those houses look nicer than the police think a black person would have: "Huh...would you look at that...it looks like this black guy broke in and hung up pictures of his family everywhere!"

It's not funny to see this manifest in real life, of course. Here's hoping officer Storace becomes ex-officer Storace real quick, with appropriate penalties placed upon the police department as well, to whatever extent is allowed by law. This is a clear violation of their rights, and they deserve justice -- and all the more for having been put through it twice!

Not really, there is no one to police the police...we are only getting one side though.

Yes, that is the reason I'm withholding my condemnation of this police officer. It sounds horrible, like a gross abuse of power; and if the facts are reasonably represented the officer should lose his job and the PD should pay for this abuse. But, it is purely the story from one side and I'd at least like to hear the other side of the story.

Abuse...they spent a night in jail, abuse is broken bones, sexual battering, denial of healthcare. I don't think these young men will be scared for life.

Notice the context, "abuse of power." Or are you going to claim, assuming the story is accurate, that the police officer did not abuse his power?

They'll propably think twice about ever approaching a police officer again when they need them. Then again, in the US that is always a good policy for african americans, for various reasons.

You're wrong. That kind of injustice is scarring for life. Sure, they spent the night in jail, but for what? For being who they were on their on property. Yes, that has an effect, not only on them but their families, friends and neighborhood.

They also could have lost their jobs for this. They were lucky in that their families were able to raise their bail right away. Which leads to the question - what kind of judge would set bail on a case such as this?

We only have one side, their could be more to it. Let's see what the investigation shows.

There are always three sides to every story...his side, their side, and the truth, which is usually somewhere in the middle.

the kind of judge who feels there was probable cause for the Cop to arrest them.

And sometimes one side is telling the truth, one side is lying and in the middle is still a lie.

Maybe, the Cops in the US, on a whole, are not a force for evil. There are crooked Cops, but the vast majority are out there serving, and protecting.

But yes, there are dirty cops.

I guess it will be for the courts to puzzle this one out. The only thing we as members of the public can rely on are statements from both sides, filtered through the bias of various news sources.

The sad thing is, the media propably won't even report on the outcome of the trial, at least not in any noticeable way. New scandals bring more clicks than the resolution of old ones. Propably one of the reasons why modern society seems so intimidating, the news is always full of new catastrophes, but lacking in answers and resolutions.
