Any advice that contradicts the Lord's teaching is no good advice. We must stay on guard against those. We must reject, not accept.

2. He’s balanced: Family and friends always comes first. He prioritizes his time and is well-rounded in many areas. He’s a modern Renaissance man.

Pretty obvious why this one is contradictory to the Lord's teaching

8. He has self-respect and gives respect to all: He focuses on the kind of man he wants to be, and creates a positive internal self-dialogue. A good guy is empathetic and forgiving.

Respect is subjective based on culture, situation, and the person demanding respect. Jesus and His disciples were unable to cater respect to all and thus, annoyed many. Example in 2 John 1:10-11

9. He challenges himself to be a better man: Most men are raised to believe they need to fight and conquer. A good guy understands to overcome one’s own self is better than competing and beating anyone else.

A proper time for all things. A time for peace and a time to fashion a whip of cords and overturn tables.

15. He’s humble: He lets others sing his praises instead of himself.

They probably wouldn't have anything to sing praises for if he kept his good deeds in secret - Matthew 6:1-4

20. He’s shaped by men he respects: He finds mentors, men he wants to be like, and regularly meets with them.

Only FEW ever finds the WAY so this can be a problem, a huge one.

22. He has a desire to advance culture: When he leaves the world, it will be a better place.

The world keeps getting worse...Either there's really no gentlemen or they don't really make any difference.

27. He has a vision to lead: With long-term thinking, the good guy leads with the realization his actions today will affect his life and others in the future.

This is actually a good one BUT only very FEW have realization of this. The vast majority only thinks 30 to 100 years ahead, not really care what goes beyond that.

Greetings timewerx,

There are 7.7 billion souls on our planet. It is impossible for a message to resonate with every reader. Whether the qualities exist in few or many persons is immaterial. God knits us in the manner He deems best.

While the attributes may not resonate with your perspective or personal experiences. I would hope you do not expect others to embrace your way of thinking in light of their own and the Holy Spirit’s leading.

You are welcome to disagree and maintain the stance you feel is best. But please respect our ability to do the same. Yours is the lone voice of dissent. It shouldn’t overshadow the others or be seen as an ideal we should accede to.

My intention with this thread is encouragement and support. Not debate. If you feel the subject should be discussed in that measure, you are welcome to start a thread arguing etiquette’s place in our society.

We're the same

Most of the items in the list is actually good. Gold nuggets to practice in life.

I only pointed out 6 items out of 30 in the list which can conflict with Christian principles (not all the time though). Just to advice caution.
