In today’s post-truth world’, mistakes, and more precisely, doctrinal mistakes move about freely with their author's feet never really being ‘held to the fire’. Critical reviews on those lesser infractions barely leave a mark while the more blatantly erroneous “Strange-Fire” and the rogue over-critical authors of the “Name it Claim it” movement pump out more and more lucrative teaching videos on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. More than enough capital to further impose spiritual carnage, namely, the removal of our estate in the liberty and strength in Him.

What name might we place on these authors’ liberty to foster such un-checked teachings? I wouldn’t be so concerned with that nearly as much as I would the strange unity they all share.

The two above yet well-known examples I gave for instance may not fully agree with each other, but both wish to refuse portions assigned to the Christian we have clear liberty to enjoy.

The over-correction therefore is held in place by spiritual and doctrinal bias and continues to thrive and be nurtured in my view, by the absence of soundness’ concerted voice – you the Church.

All full-gospel thoughts welcome, thanks!

Come back to Him, the Man. The more we know Him as the Person that He is the less we flip flop around on the latest egotistical fad.

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

There are over 300 passages in the Bible about God's concern for the poor.

"If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday." (Isaiah 58:10).

"Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him?" (James 2:5)

There are also many passages which warn about accumulating wealth or having a desire to become materially rich.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal" (Matthew 6:19).

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money" (Matthew 6:24)

But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ (Matthew 16:25).

I am not a fan of the "name-it-and-claim-it" gospel. To me, it is a bit like a child in a toy shop thinking that if he cries and shouts long enough, his parent will cave in and give them what they want. The Lord knows what is best for us and has already promised to supply us with all our needs. But He will do it in His own time and under His own terms.

"Yet not what I will, but what you will." (Mark 14:36)

On the other hand:
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’ ”

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Prayer is fundamentally about developing our relationship with God. You are right, we are called to be persistent in prayer, we should always pray and not give up. And God will help us in times of trouble and supply all our needs. The difference is that we should expect God to supply us with what we need, but not necessarily with everything that we want.

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phillipians 4:19).

Not opposing you my brother, and don't disagree with what you have posted. Only trying to bring it closer to Him.

Ohh-Anthony, you have gone straight to the source of soo much of what ails our understanding!

Sorry, but may I make a brief case-in-point? I remain completely correctable, please, feel free to re-align my understanding. For I’m afraid error is too easily accomplished and surfaces when we unknowing propose one thing said by the Holy Spirit but omit His own commentary concerning things in particular elsewhere, the Holy Spirit mentions here through Paul that he was the “last” (1Cor 15:8) Apostle.

I have always believed that God will faithfully supply us with everything that we need. That has certainly been my experience.

I remember years ago in my baptism service, inviting a friend to play the piano for the service. My friend had her own car and had to travel a couple of hundred miles and I paid for the petrol. I was a student and she was out of work, so neither of us had much money to spend. Shortly after, I got a letter in the post from another Christian friend who was not even aware that I had paid any money. In her letter she enclosed a cheque for the amount the petrol had cost.

I did not need to badger the Lord with demands or requests. He already knew what I needed!

That is so interesting, I don't know if we have similar problems in the UK. Locally in the North of England, our problem is being too liberal! I tear out my hair (not literally) as the preachers tell their congregations that they have nothing to worry about. Sermons which are just feel good talks, yuck. They will have to answer to the Lord one day. The old film from the 1960s comes to mind 'Thief in the Night'. Fortunately, their are some very good Gospel Churches too.

There is a concept of the first button. If you do not know what that is, try buttoning your shirt with one button off by putting it intentionally in the wrong hole. All the rest of the buttons seem to line up really well until you get to the end and either you have a button left over or an extra hole. Something is off; and you need to go look at that first button and where it was placed. Correcting that will eventually straighten out the rest of the buttons.

In our case the first button was incorrectly positioned in the 2nd century.
