Can someone be Charismatic and believe the Bible has errors?

i was raised Pentecostal, my Grandfather was an evangelist and taught in Seminaries and Bible based Universities from Texas, Oklahoma, to Florida.

He was Presbyter of the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ and co-founder with G.T. Haywood (wrote the song "i see a Crimson Stream of Blood that flows down Calvary).

if this will post, when you hit PLAY, it will begin at the 1:12 mark (if not just go to 1:12 mark and hit pause).
FAR LEFT, the short JEW, that is my Grandfather :)

GT Haywood is the Man in Center and Closest to your camera view (man in white shirt) :)

anyways, we have always known the Bible had errors, but not enough to take away from God being God. and it is a relief now having the original Manuscripts to clarify now when i can obviously see something not as it should be.

I for one do not agree. The Bible has NO ERRORS only a lack of understanding and study.

The Bible cannot err
, since it is God's Word, and God cannot err. This does not mean there are no difficulties in the Bible. But the difficulties are not due to God's perfect revelation, but to our imperfect understanding of it. The history of Bible criticism reveals that the Bible has no errors, but the critics do.

If you deny inerrancy, you have to ask, which of these two premises do you not believe?

Premise #1.
Jesus said, “Your Word is true,” not “Your Word has truth.” Hebrews says, “It is impossible for God to lie.” So you can mark that one off your list. Jesus said in John 10:34-35 that the Scripture cannot be broken ,it is infallible. And Paul said, “All Scripture is breathed out by God (2 Tim 3:16). Throughout the Scripture over and over again the Bible is called the Word of God.”

#2.
Whatever Jesus affirmed as true is true. Jesus affirmed the Bible is the Word of God. Therefore, it is true that the Bible is the Word of God.

He affirmed the Bible is indestructible 90 times. He said heaven and earth will pass away but not the smallest part will pass away from it until all is fulfilled. Jesus said the Bible is unbreakable and has all supremacy. He affirmed it is historically reliable. He picked the most disputed passage in the Old Testament; for example, Jonah and the Whale. Jesus says the Bible has scientific accuracy.

So then, there are many errors in the copies. King James says Ahaziah was 42 in one passage, 22 in another. Also differences in the number of Solomon’s stalls. These errors are found only in copies. Nobody has found an original copy with an error.

You are absolutely Correct, the Bible cannot error.

but it can reveal that is was tampered with, changed, added to or removed from by having Papyrus Dated records of clear dates when the "originals" were written and do a side by side comparison, like I did with 1 John 5:6-8 between the Aramaic, Greek, Latin Vulgate (ALL of them one thousand plus years before and older than the KJV)(which means, the KJV should be almost WORD for WORD with the Originals) (but show clear and obvious changes) and the KJV Bible..

What is the best English Bible to use for your primary studies. I would suggest one that uses the Masoretic text for its Old Testament translation base and the tried and true Textus Receptus (Received Text) manuscripts as the basis for its New Testament. Scriptures based on these manuscripts include the New King James Version and the Holy Bible in Its Original Order.

The main advantage of the modern translations is that they are written in modern English so the reader will not be mystified or misled by the archaic English of the KJV. The mainstream modern Bible versions have been translated by teams of highly qualified Bible scholars who have diligently done their very best to convey the true meaning of the ancient Hebrew and Greek manuscripts to the modern reader.

and this is all good and well, but when the literal "original" by dates Papyrus reveals 1 John 5:6-8 is talking solely about our Lord and Savior Yeshua, and then the KJV changes those words defining yeshua and now turning those words into a triune theme, we have the work of SATAN at play!!

because no matter how you read the KJV 1 John 5:6-8, or the new English Standards, NONE OF THEM follow the "Original Manuscript." so You are always going to get a FALSE READ from the KJV and newer English Bibles all because NONE OF THEM follow what the Original states.

so, you keep your new Bible, believe it is OK, and figure it out at Judgement Day for believing something that was not suppose to be!!

as for me, i have the "original materials" because I showed you the error and where the KJV does not follow or comply...having and following the "Original" in this matter actually matters!!

Do you think that the "stuff" in that link was wrong????

Are you trying to say that I "Mr. conretecamper", since I can not disprove anything said, will instead try to attack the messenger and ignore the message.

Good luck with that because YOU are the only one who believes that.

Just posting this to provide information as you are talking about the original languages.

There is a site that has scripture in the original languages with translations here:

Scripture4All - Greek/Hebrew interlinear Bible software
Interlinear Bible (PDF format) (terms of use)
bullet_05.gif
Hebrew-English Interlinear (14 Jan 2008)
bullet_05.gif
Greek-English Interlinear (25 Jan 2010)
bullet_05.gif
Grieks-Nederlands interlineair (27 Dec 2014)

Another useful site for the study of scripture in looking at the original words is:
www.blueletterbible.org

You can look up a scripture and click "Tools" and get information, like:

Screenshot 2019-10-06 at 10.47.04 AM.png

You can also select different translations and compare. Click on the "Bibles" tab after looking up a verse and get this:

Check it out for your Bible study. These are good resources.

thank you,

but the issue with INTERLEARS are if you copy/paste the Creator of the Interlears, and do a search, you can see the Creators "Personal View" in the "Translation.

the Greek is horrific.

4 examples of 1 verse and the Greek is different in each one.

Paul spoke Koine Greek so there should be "Only the Same One" translation in all Linears.

you go to the Papyrus for these facts, if i may offer...

We are not saved by what translation we think is the best.

IMO, you are allowing the trees to keep you from seeing the forest.

We are saved by FAITH IN WHAT ALL translations say in John 14:6...……….
"I AM the way the truth and the life and no one goes to the Father except by me".

Agreed!!

but I am discussing when the milk has ran dry and it's time as a Believer to finally sit at the table and eat "meat.."

it's time to be a full time student for God and learn exactly who God is by having the wonderful access to the "Originals."

and it can not only become eye opening, revealing, somewhat enlightening, but it gives you a true preface to understand the entire Puzzle to even see what is lying await for us.

Study to shew thyself Approved!!

the "Originals" are what allow specifically just that...

Mark chapter 10 claims "anyone" who has left parents, spouse (Disciples as in left at home until time being), children, siblings, friends to "Follow Yeshua"...that person gets 3 things "Equally.."

1. gets 100 fold on all their losses here on Earth for sacrificing family/friends for our God and Savior

2. gets equally "persecuted" (made fun of, have people do you wrong behind your back, lose a job(s), lose marriage(s), beaten, lose your loved ones while not being able to save them, maybe sued, whatever it is that can feel like you are being Persecuted (attacked and outnumbered), this is going to be an absolute 100% guarantee when we go to God and present Him our personal losses so He Blesses us with what we lost 100 Fold = get 100 Fold + equal Persecution simultaneous in your lifetime.

3. Guaranteed Eternal Life

That is directly from the mouth of God in the flesh!!

I would just point out that nobody has the originals. The earliest manuscripts we have (typically fragmentary papyrus) are copies many times over. There are NO original autographs in existence today.

In the nicest way I can say this, why do you keep saying that the "Originals" are the only ones we can trust. Do YOU have the "Originals"?????
Have you read the originals?
Have You even SEEN the originals???

The truth of the matter is that the original documents that comprise the 66 books of the Bible—sometimes called the “autographs”—are not in the possession of any organization or person.

exist to provide confidence that the text that exists today is what was originally composed.

There are 5,300 Greek, 10,000 Latin, and 9,000 miscellaneous copies of the New Testament extant today, and more continue to be unearthed via archaeology. The combination of early dating and the enormous number of New Testament copies causes historical experts such as Sir Frederic Kenyon (former director and principal librarian of the British Museum) to say, “The interval, then, between the dates of original composition and the earliest extant evidence becomes so small as to be in fact negligible, and the last foundation for any doubt that the Scriptures have come down to us substantially as they were written has now been removed. Both the authenticity and the general integrity of the books of the New Testament may be regarded as finally established.”

Source...….Is the original Bible still in existence? | GotQuestions.org

So what does all of this mean???? It means that while no one today possesses the original autographs, we do have many extant copies, and the work of biblical historians via the science of "TEXTUAL CRITICISM" gives us great confidence that today’s Bible is an accurate reflection of the original writers’ work. As an analogy, if the original and preserved unit of measure known as a “yard” was lost in a fire in its holding place in Washington, D.C., there is little doubt that that measurement could be replaced with full assurance through all the exact copies of it that exist elsewhere. The same is true of God’s Word.

I am saying that your argument of "Originals are only the valid" source of truth is therefore INVALID.

I would suggest that you move on to something more pressing and important instead of the Original's are the only acceptable means of truth of God's Word.

we do have the well preserved Torah whom the Hebrews/Jews have retained and maintained in mint condition. Plus we have the actual Papyrus (complete) for the Aramaic. the Greek is where your concerns come from, but then again, we have so many Greek Fragments of Papyrus we could make 10 bibles.

so, there are "originals," and they are there for our access!!

the universites my Grandfather taught Theology have preserved Papyrus.

the KJV is the 5th Language translated.

that is 4 Languages the Bible existed in before the English version.

those Language Translations from Hebrew to Aramaic/Greek, and then to Latin Vulgate are still in existence and Valid.

you just don't want to accept that the KJV had words ADDED TO IT that aren't from the Direction of God!!

you will just have to get over it, because it is a FACT!!
