Against a light floor and he’s the only one who had a mat that screaming loud color . Nah, not buying .
I also think she got the same sentence that she would have gotten for manslaughter aka a death caused by a stupid mistake. So I’m satisfied with the sentence

I think the 10 yr sentence she got is reasonable. Bc it's long enough to have a super major impact on her life which is only reasonable considering that she took somebody else's life but bc she didn't do so with malicious intent she shouldn't completely lose out on her own life by being imprisoned for more than 10 yrs.

Yes of course it's unfair that some ppl have been given way harsher sentences for comparable crimes but I mean it's not fair to give a sentence based on other ppl being treated unfairly.

exactly!

hasn't anyone here worked 14 hrs besides me?
you're exhausted

Yes, a ton of ppl have worked 14 hrs & made stupid mistakes bc of it. But this goes WAY beyond a stupid mistake.

At my university the dorms & student apartments all look totally identical. The same furniture, same size, layout, etc. A lot of ppl decorate their doors but not everybody does. Unlike in the US most ppl living in dorms here have private rooms so there's not a roommate to tell you if you've come in the wrong room.

It's super easy to make a mistake if you're tired, distracted, drunk. A lot of students work, some with serious jobs that require more from them, on top of going to school so it's not that uncommon to be operating on like 4 hours of sleep. So yeah I can see how mistakes can be made. But this goes way beyond that. The normal reaction is to ask why somebody is in your space, then give the chance to get a reply. Then you look around & realize that what they're telling you is true, that you invaded their space not the other way around.

Police officers should be way better trained than a uni student on how to react to stressful situations that are surprising when they're tired. She's a grown lady & a trained officer. It wasn't just that she shot him it was that she then didn't do anything to save him afterwards.

Such a sad thing. I don't think she planned to kill him in cold blood when she was coming home from a too long day. However she made a lot of bad choices. Perhaps she was too tired, but she's still responsible for her actions. Exhaustion and firearms don't mix. It's sad she didn't try to get him help; and as a police officer she should have been trained to make a better response than what she did. I agree that she is guilty .

You mean the Law that came 400+ years after this passage?
I am aware that the passage you quoted was prior to the giving of the Law but nonetheless, Christ did away with it on the cross.

I don't understand why it is done away with when God shows the intrinsic worth and value of a human life by the sort of punishment one deserves in unjustly taking it. We are made in the image of God, that's why it is counted as a capital offense. Are you saying that Christ took away our intrinsic worth and value too? If not, then you are inconsistent. If we are created in such a way, then unjustly taking it would be a high offense, do you agree?

10 years seems like such a pittance for taking a life. A woman lies about her address so her kids can go to a better school? 5 years. Police officer murders a man in his own home? 10 years.

But like the poster lamenting that she thought she was in her home, so it is okay, there is a certain segment of the US population that is treated like Brock Turner and it would be horrible for them to be punished for a crime. But should we be surprised? How many years did the officer that murdered Oscar Grant get? How many years did the officer that murdered Laquan MacDonald get? They say justice for all, but really it’s only justice for some.
I would have liked to see her get what a black man would have gotten in her place.

I think in this case, it was her blubbering that got her the light sentence. If a man (of any color) had done it, and had the same amount of regret (whatever that was) he probably wouldn't have cried in the courtroom. And that would have resulted in more time for him.

Watching the brother of the victim forgive and hug the accused brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful demonstration of forgiveness.

I definitely think it takes a lot of Chtistian heart to be able to willingly forgive like that.
