Can Bernie's Campaign Recover from His Surgery?

What impact will his surgery have on Bernie Sanders' poll numbers?

  • His numbers will drop, as voters will be concerned for his health.

    Votes: 12 85.7%
  • His numbers will rise, partly due to the sympathy factor.

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • His numbers will not change.

    Votes: 2 14.3%

  • Total voters
    14

First, Let me say that I like Bernie, I really do. I was for him in his quest to beat Hillary in 2016. However, running for the Presidency is an enormous task and I really doubt that a man of his age is up to the job of getting nominated and elected and running the country for four years. I could be wrong. Only time will tell. He has raised a lot of money, but his poll numbers have already slipped in recent weeks. It is possible that his recent health scare could cause his numbers to drop further or just perhaps the sympathy factor could cause his numbers to climb a little. What do you think? Will Bernie double stent surgery cause his poll numbers to drop, rise or stay the same?

I for real love Bernie, he's a super amazing person imo. I wish he was in my family. I have doubts that his campaign is gonna survive this bc it just is too much of a risk factor. This isn't something that he can control really so it's not like him being amazeballs is gonna mean that he won't have a heart attack. Several of the other ppl running are super old too, Trump isn't much younger. So they could easily have heart problems too but they haven't had them publicly yet so it's not as much of a jeopardy. I'm sad about it.

He's right to use this as an example of how health care reform is desperately needed in the US bc medical emergencies can happen anytime.

i claim to vote for the best candidate and have voted for both parties. had, and i stress this word "had," Bernie not been cheated out of the Nomination, he no doubt would have destroyed Trump.

ironically, the cheater who ousted Bernie, was then cheated herself.

ultimately, God had His way!!

but as this moment in time, this decade, this remaining political race and beyond, the sure thing president in 2016 (i would have went to Vegas with a boatload of cash taking Bernie over Trump)(we all know it was Bernie's own voters who turned on hillbillary and either voted Trump or did not vote causing Trump's win) will "never" be considered a reliable Candidate again.

Best of Health, Bernie, but you will never be our President!!

I do not know if your thesis holds up in WI and PA, but there seems no doubt that Bernie's voters cost Hillary MI.

it's just a guess one way or another lol

but when that 2016 election revealed before running against Trump, that Hillary cheated and won against Bernie, i knew the gap was very close in that race and if Bernie's voters flipped, this world was about to see a Miracle unfold before their very eyes, as in, the very hand of God in action..

Just curious - how do you think the hand of God would have been evident in a Bernie 2016 - 2020 presidency?

Do you think he would have delivered more for Christians than Trump has? If so, what type of things, other than what you apparently hope he would have tried to do for federal run health care?

I think it will case serious doubts of his physical ability, not just to run for office, but to maintain the demands of the office.
That is my hunch, too. He not only suffered the recent health problem, but he looks and acts like a really elderly person. Trump is just the opposite, although the age difference between them is slight. People simply age at different rates and Bernie appears to be one of the less fortunate.

i hate healthcare as a tax, it is unfair. but, you get a standard service. private healthcare you get exactly what you want. government healthcare, is avery good option, but to support that means cutting deep into the wealth of those opposing you. and at times, that cuts into available jobs in the market. and elsewhere.. it's iffy...

well, this and we as life on a planet circling the Sun, all are confined to the ultimate "timing of God." and that meant Bernie was "never" going to ever win, then, definitely not now or the future.

I think we need to take into consideration that he has been campaigning heavily for several months already and that may have played a part in his health problem.

Bernie's campaign might recover, in terms of making appearances, etc, but his candidacy won't. Too many people are going to regard this as the determining factor, on top of his age, in his ability to meet the demands of the office.

It won't get any easier when the general election campaign starts or if he becomes president. I presume that anyone who might think twice about him now, on account of age or health, will also be thinking ahead.

Interesting reply. Yes, I agree Bernie was "never" going to win 2016.

It seemed that you thought he might have been a better instrument for God to use, so I was curious about what you policies or directions he might have steered that would have done more or better than Trump did for Christians.

I think Trump is too old to be the President as well.

Whatever your opinion is of Trump, he does appear to be thriving on the demanding rigors of the job very well, wouldn't you think?

I think age is relative to the person. At 70 years old you certainly have gained a lifetime's worth of knowledge and wisdom, so if you are strong enough to withstand the demands of the job, who better to have in office than someone in their 70's?

I agreed with few of Obama's policies, as a disclaimer, but if he would have had Trump's vigor and life experiences he might have been able to accomplish more than using his pen in a way that his successor could strike most of what he did down.

But then, perhaps I'm selling Obama short because it does appear from early reporting that he was able to stage a loyal force within that was prepared to pull a coup on the next president based on some of the speculation recently in the news.

I always liked Bernie too and wish he would have been in the last running/race. I don't think people will vote for him for sympathy with this surgery as Americans rarely work that way with these elections, so I left that one blank. I'm thinking his popularity may go down a bit unfortunatley.

Where is the sympathy vote? I thought that someone would guess that his numbers might climb due to the sympathy factor?

I don't think there is anyone who votes for a President because they feel sorry for them.

Well, I mean if it is a health concern for his own health popular or not he has no business in office.
