• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

It's been around 2 and a half to 3 years ago, I made several marks on my left arm. I did so with a Box Cutter. I was trying to do myself in. Normally, I've never been a cutter. The deepest cut was when I cut once with the box cutter, it opened up, and I cut again in the same spot. The only reason my family member didn't take me to the ER is because we were able to stop the bleeding. I did sleep a lot after it happened. I guess loosing a lot of blood make a person so that. I went into the regular physician several days later, and he put on external stiches. He told me I should have gone to the er to get stiches right then.

Every time I leave my house now, I wear a wrist ban that covers it. I could care less of what adults think about it, but I dislike it at times, because I do believe people give me pity sometimes because of it. Which I don't want.

Thee only reason I wear my wristbands to cover it, is because I don't believe that a child should ever have to see it. Nor would I ever want to have to explain to a child what I did to myself.
