I said that BACs with the right heart attitude would NOT be on that list of sinners.

That sounds more correct to me. But Luke 18:9-14 does not indicate that the tax collector repented of his sins. It simply demonstrates that he was not self righteous and came to the Lord humbly. So I'm not sure what your point is. I don't remember seeing scripture that says unrepentant believers go to the lake of fire. While Luke 18:9-14 may indicate that humble sinners don't go to the lake of fire.

I guess you didn't see the OP ... it's the first post of this thread ... Enjoy!

Yes of course, you feel you made your position known. What I'm asking is that you clarify and spell that out for me. Forgive me but I didn't see what you're taking about in the OP.

Yes I looked at the OP again and it fails to spell out who goes to the lake of fire. That is covered in the responses in posts #2 & 3. The only conclusion I can draw is that Luke 18:9-14 gives us sinners guidance in how to approach the Lord. Sinners is then any of us who fail to follow exactly what's contained in posts #2 & 3.

Can OP define what it means to "Bear Fruit" please thanks ... John 11:25-26
Doing what is expected of believers, perhaps especially good works (E.G. Matthew 25).
And don't forget about "the fruit of the Spirit": peace, love, grace, long-suffering, etc.

The verse I provided does talk about works. The will of the Father is to believe on Jesus whom He sent. Btw

I can tell you who dwells in the everlasting fire.

Isa 33:14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
Isa 33:15
He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;

So then I can sin so long as I'm humble and ask God for mercy? And then I won't go to the lake of fire?

He basically avoided giving a clear answer to what you ask. But the question is
important because there are plenty of humble, sincere NON believers, some of
whom may be more truthful, kinder, people outwardly than proud bible-thumpers.
Nevertheless in spite of these commendable characteristics, they reject the salvation
offered to them in the redemptive work of Christ. They have elected to put their
trust in something else once they cross death's portal.

● believers who fall away during Christian persecution ●
● believers who submit to taking the mark of the beast ●

The way his post reads initially, he makes it seem that Christians who are "cowardly"
go to the Lake of Fire. This is clearly unscriptural, and is why you and other people have
questioned it. Some of the categories of people listed:

● pastors who are afraid to preach Scriptural Truth ●
● believers afraid to do what they know is God’s will ●
● believers who do not confront Satan and his demons ●

These may be failing believers, some of whom correct their failings and flaws over
time. But they still remain Christians nevertheless, and are not headed to the
Lake of Fire.

Perhaps a case can be made for the last two- people who apostatize or reject
the faith having once believed. There are several examples such as ex
pastor Joshua Harris or "Screaming Comedian"- Sam Kinison, who also
started out as a preacher and whose vicious mockery of Christians
and Christianity turned out to be very profitable for him, on
this side of death at least.

Who gets cast into the everlasting lake of fire?

It’s not my job to make that decision and I highly doubt the entity who makes that decision posts on this forum.

Matthew 7:21

Those that do the will of the Father... those will enter His kingdom.

Who will be cast into the lake of fire? Those that do not do the will of the Father.

IF you do the will of the Father, you will fulfill the purpose that the Father has for your life.

If you follow direction of the Father, you will bare fruit. Just as a branch bares fruit because it is nourished by the tree.

If a branch is not part of the tree, or is on the tree but does not produce fruit (Following self will of the flesh over the Fathers will) will be cut off and cast into the fires.

John 15:2

It is not to say that only perfect people are saved.... it is to say one must change their minds about the severity of sin. To not wish to be drawn to it any more.

There is a difference between the one that is made clean and stumbles into a mud puddle, needing to be cleaned again (asking forgiveness) and the one that is all too eager to return to the mud puddle.

2 Peter 2:17-22

We either follow the way of the flesh (as the world chooses... which leads to death) allowing our body to master us.

OR

We choose to follow the way of the Spirit (which leads to life) and master our flesh with the help of the Spirit.... picking up our cross and following Him.

The world is full of MANY people that claim Christ as their savior, but have no desire to live seperate from how the world lives.

Jesus said that MANY would come to Him saying Lord Lord and claiming to have done works in His name.... clearly these people thought themselves saved.. or they wouldnt call Him Lord Lord or do work in His name.

Those, that do the will of the Father, NOT will of the FLESH.

I DO believe that there will be many in His kingdom that many were certain would be in hell and I believe there will be many more in hell that everyone was so sure would be in Heaven

Yes it could be seen as those who follow the Beast, but it seems to have a universal
bearing as well.

"But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part [shall be] in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death. "

The above would be true of all men, unless they are covered by the redemptive work of Christ.
Failing Christians who do some of the above will lose reward in the world to come, and will likely have to pay the price while here on earth (i.e. Christians who commit murder will be executed same as everyone else, adulterers who are Christians may pay a painful price in broken marriages and estranged children etc etc), but these failings, would not affect their eternal salvation, assuming of course that they were genuine Christians to begin with, not mere pretenders.

What makes a "literal translation" literal? How do you know that they are actually literal? Can you show me any use of "age during" anywhere other than a so-called "literal translation." It is not even a word anywhere else. I find that people who claim to only believe "literal versions" are the ones who have a skewed theology.
Here is a word study I did on the Greek words αἰών/aion correctly translated eternity and αἰώνιος/aionios correctly translated eternal/everlasting.
In twenty one [21] of the following verses αἰών/aion and αἰώνιος/aionios are defined/described as eternal, everlasting, eternity etc, by comparison or contrast with other adjectives or adjectival phrases.
List of verses:1 Timothy 1:17, 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, 2 Corinthians 5:1, Hebrews 7:24, 1 Peter 1:23, 1 Timothy 6:16, Galatians 6:8, John 6:58, John 10:20, 1 John 2:17, 1 Peter 5:10, Romans 2:7, Luke 1:33,Revelation 14:11, John 10:28, John 3:15, John 3:16, John 5:24, John 8:51, Ephesians 3:21, Romans 1:20, Romans 5:21, Romans 16:26.

…..In the NT “aion/aionios” sometimes refer to things which are not eternal but neither word is ever defined/described, by other adjectives or adjectival phrases, as meaning a period of time less than eternal, as in the following verses.

[1]Romans 1:20
(20) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal [ἀΐ́διος/aidios] power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
[2] Romans 16:26
(26) But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting [αἰώνιος/aionios] God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
In Rom 1:20 Paul refers to God’s power and Godhead as “aidios.” Scholars agree “aidios” unquestionably means eternal, everlasting, unending etc. In Rom 16:26, Paul, the same writer, in the same writing, refers to God as “aionios.” Paul has used “aidios” synonymous with “aionios.” In this verse by definition “aionios” means eternal, everlasting.
[3] Luke 1:33
(33) And he shall reign [βασιλευσει][Vb] over the house of Jacob for ever; [αιωνας/aionas] and of his kingdom [βασιλειας][Nn] there shall be no end.[τελος/τελος]
In this verse the reign βασιλευσει/basileusei, which is the verb form of the word, is "aionas" and of the kingdom βασιλειας/basileias, the noun form of the same word, "there shall be no end.” “Aionas” by definition here means eternal.
[4] 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
(17) For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal [αἰώνιος/aionios] weight of glory;
(18) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal;[πρόσκαιρος/proskairos] but the things which are not seen are eternal [αἰώνιος/aionios]
In this passage “aionios” is contrasted with “for a moment,” vs. 4, and “temporal,” vs. 5. “Age(s)” an indeterminate finite period, it is not the opposite of “for a moment”/”temporal/temporary” “eternal” is. “Aionios” by definition here means “eternal.”
[5] 2 Corinthians 5:1
(1) For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal [αἰώνιος/aionios] in the heavens.
In this verse “aionios house” is contrasted with “earthly house which is destroyed.” Is God going to replace our destroyed earthly house with a house only lasts a little longer which will also be destroyed at the end of an age? The aionios house is not destroyed, the opposite of “is destroyed.” Thus, “aionios” by definition here means “eternal.”
[6] Hebrews 7:24 but because Jesus lives forever [αἰών/aion] he has an unchangeable [ἀπαράβατος/aparabatos] priesthood.
In this verse “aion” is paired with “unchangeable.” If “aion” means “age(s),” Jesus cannot continue “for a finite period” and be “unchangeable” at the same time. Thus “aion” by definition here means “eternal.”
[7] 1 Peter 1:23
(23) For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, [ ̓́αφθαρτος/aphthartos] through the living and enduring word of God. …
1 Peter 1:25
(25) but the word of the Lord endures forever.[αἰών/aion] " And this is the word that was preached to you.
In verse 23 “word of God” is paired with “imperishable.” The same writer, Peter, in the same writing 1 Peter in verse 25 writes the word of God “endures εις τον αιωνα unto eternity. ” Thus by definition “aion” here means “eternity.”
[8] 1 Timothy 6:16
(16) Who only hath immortality, [ ̓́αφθαρτος/aphthartos] dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting [αἰώνιος/aionios]
In this verse “aionios” is paired with “immortality.” If “aionios” is only a finite period, God cannot be “immortal” and only exist for a finite period at the same time. Thus “aionios” by definition means “eternal.”
[9] Galatians 6:8
(8) For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; [φθορά/fthora] but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. [αἰώνιος/aionios]
In this verse “aionios” is contrasted with “corruption.” “Fleshly” people reap “corruption” but spiritual people reap “life aionios,” i.e. “not corruption.” “Age(s), a finite period, is not opposite of “corruption.” Thus “aionios life” by definition here means “eternal/everlasting life.”
[10] John 6:58
(58) This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.[αἰώνιος/aionios]
In this verse Jesus contrasts “aionios life” with “death.” If “live aionios” is only a finite period, a finite period is not opposite “death.” Thus “aionios” by definition here means “eternal.”
[11] John 10:28
(28) I give them eternal [αἰώνιος/aionios] life, and they shall never [αἰών/aion] perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
In this verse Jesus pairs “aionios” and “aion” with “[not] snatch them out of my hand.” If “aion/aionios” means “age(s), a finite period,” that is not the opposite of “[not] snatch them out of my hand’” “Aionios life” by definition here means “eternal life.”
[12] 1 John 2:17
(17) The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. [αἰών/aion]
In this verse “aionios” is contrasted with “pass away,” “lives aionios” cannot mean a finite period, A “finite period” is not opposite of “pass away.” Thus “lives aionios” by definition here means “lives eternally.”
[13] 1 Peter 5:10
(10) And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal [αιωνιον/aionion] glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, [ολιγον/oligon] will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
In this verse “aionios” is contrasted with “little while” Does Jesus give His followers a finite period of glory then they eventually die? Thus “aionios” here, by definition, means “eternal.”
[14] Romans 2:7
(7) To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, [ἀφθαρσία/apftharsia] he will give eternal [αἰώνιος/aionios] life.
In this verse “aionios” is paired with “immortality.” If “aionios” is only a finite period, believers cannot seek for “a finite period,” and “immortality” at the same time. But they can seek for “eternal life” and “immortality” at the same time. Thus by definition “aionios life” here means “eternal life.”
[15] 1 Timothy 1:17.
(17) Now unto the King eternal, [αἰών/aion] immortal, [ ̓́αφθαρτος/aphthartos] invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever [αἰών/aion] and ever [αἰώνιος/aionios]. Amen.
In this verse “aion” is paired with “immortal.” “Aion” cannot mean “age(s),” a finite period and be immortal at the same time. Thus “aion” by definition here means “eternal.”
[16] Revelation 14:11
(11) And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever:[εις αιωνας αιωνων/eis aionas aionon] and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
In this verse “aionas aionon torment” is paired with “no rest day or night.” If “aionas, aionon” means “a finite period” at some time they would rest, “Aionas, aionon” by definition here means “forever and forever.”
[17] John 3:15
(15) That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal [αιωνιον] life.
In this verse Jesus pairs “aionion” with “shall not perish.” Believers could perish in a finite period, “aionion life” by definition here means eternal life.
[18] John 3:16
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting [αιωνιον] life.
In this verse Jesus pairs “aionion” with “should not perish.” Believers could eventually perish in a finite period, thus by definition “aionion life” here means eternal or everlasting life.
[19]John 5:24[/B]
(24) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting [αἰώνιος] life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
In this verse Jesus pairs “aionios” with “shall not come into condemnation” and “passed from death unto life.” “Aionios” does not mean “a finite period,” by definition here it means “eternal,” unless Jesus lets His followers come into condemnation and pass into death.
[20] Romans 5:21
(21) That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal [αἰώνιος] life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
In this verse “aionios life” is contrasted with death. “A finite period life” is not opposite death, “eternal life” is. “Aionios life” by definition here means ‘eternal life.”
[21] Ephesians 3:21
(21) to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever [του αιωνος/tou aionios] and ever! [των αιωνων/ton aionion] Amen.
In this verse “tou aionios ton aionion” is paired with “throughout all generations.” "Age(s)" a finite period cannot refer to "all generations." By definition “tou aionios ton aionion” means forever and ever.
[22] John 8:51
(51) Very truly [αμην αμην/amen amen] I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never [ου μη εις τον αιωνα/ou mé eis ton aiona] see death."
According to noted Greek scholar Marvin Vincent "The double negative “ ου μη/ou mé” signifies in nowise, by no means." Unless Jesus is saying whoever obeys Him will die, i.e. see death, unto the age, by definition aion means eternity.

Your post, quoted above, will not end the ongoing debate revolving around eternal versus non-eternal. At least admit that you are not the final authority, and no, I am not either. I try to point out how critical word choices can slant a whole theology, like a leaf changing the trajectory of a bullet.

Gal 6:4 -5 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load.

We each need to be assured in our own hearts of our standing with God.

As for who will be in hell and who will not. The bible tells us who will perish, it is recorded in speech regarding the last day:

2Th 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Firstly we need to establish what righteousness is, true righteousness (in my opinion) is not an angry, list of rules, from an angry wrathful God. No, the bible tells us clearly, God is love, and His thoughts of good toward us "are as innumerable as the sand on the sea shore". The bible tells us God is "sow to anger and abounding in mercy", and "long suffering not willing that any should perish but that all should have life". The scripture you first quoted, showed us what sin was, it was a lack of love and concern for ones fellow man, not giving to the poor, not clothing the naked. Jesus farther more stated in the parable of Lazarus, that it was the rich man who refused to help the needy that ended up in hell. Jesus told his disciples to love one another, as I have loved you. We are told "faith working through love" ... is our goal ... and "we are called to liberty, only not to use that liberty as an excuse to sin, but through love to serve one another".

In regard to saying anyone with a drop of fear will be in hell is rather confronting. In scripture, Peter was a coward, he feared the Jews, at Jesus crucifixion. Yet Jesus when restoring him asked him just one question, "Peter do you love me"? Peter went on to be bold. But he had weakness. Many Christian's, including myself struggle with boldness. But I don't think it will send me to hell. I witness from time to time, and there are times when the devil resists me with great feelings of fear. Do I always overcome those feelings of fear? Not at all. Yet do I think Jesus will send me to hell for it, I certainly hope not.

To me I believe that the ones who will be in hell, are not the Christian's struggling to battle through life, but the unbelievers who choose to delight in sin. Do I delight in some times being a coward, not at all, I strive to over come it. Do I sin against my family, by being unfaithful, no I follow God's law to the letter, ensuring that I have no sin. Yet I feel you are pushing the law, hard against me, condemning me, even though I attempt to live my life in a way honouring to God.

It is never wrong to preach the word, and not wrong that we should attempt to keep it. But just remember Paul's words "If righteousness came by the law Christ died in vain". I prefer to lean on Jesus forgiveness not my own works.

Matthew 25:33-46 “And He (the Son of Man) will set the sheep on His right hand,
but the goats on the left.
Then the King will say to those on His right hand,
‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world” … Then He will also say to those on the left hand,
Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for
the devil and his angels.
… Assuredly, I say to you,
inasmuch as you did not do it (help) to one of the least of these,
you did not do it to Me.
And these will go away into everlasting punishment,
but the righteous into eternal life.”

The sheep are the righteous believers who inherit the kingdom of God/Christ.
The sheep hear Jesus voice, He knows them, and they follow Him (John 10:27).
The goats do NOT inherit the kingdom … they are habitual sinners (1 Cor. 6:9-10, Gal. 5:19-21, Eph. 5:3-6).
The righteous do good works … while the unrighteous are lacking in doing good works.
The goats are the unrighteous who get cast into the fire.

John 15:2-6Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He (Father God) takes away;
and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear
more fruit.
… He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much
fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered;
and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned
.”

Believers who do NOT (continue to) abide in Jesus do NOT bear fruit and are thrown into the fire!

Matthew 3:10-12 “Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit
is cut down and thrown
into the fire. … (God will) gather His wheat into the barn;
but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Those who do NOT bear good fruit are thrown into the fire.
The chaff is separated from the wheat and is thrown into the fire.

Matthew 7:15-20 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly
they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. … every good tree bears good fruit,
but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

False prophets do NOT bear good fruit and are thrown into the fire.

Matthew 18:8 “If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you.
It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet,
to be cast into the everlasting fire.”

One of those extreme verses!: If you do NOT overcome sin, you will be cast into the fire.

Matthew 13:49-50 “So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth,
separate the wicked from among the just,
and cast them into the furnace of fire.
There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

The just are the righteous … the wicked are the unrighteous.
The wicked (habitual sinners, etc.) will be cast into the fire.

Matthew 13:37-43 “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.
The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom,
but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.
The enemy who sowed them is the devil,
the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.
Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.
The Son of Man will send out His angels,
and they will gather out of His kingdom
all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire.
There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth
as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
The righteous are the good seeds of the kingdom sown by Jesus.
The unrighteous are “the sons of the wicked one” sown by the devil.

Who exactly are the “sons of the wicked one” in Matthew 13:38 above?
“Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous,
just as He is righteous … In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does NOT practice righteousness is NOT of God,
NOR is he who does NOT love his brothers/sisters
.” (1 John 3:7-10)

The “sons of the wicked one” do not practice righteousness.
The “sons of the wicked one” do not love other Christians.

I saw this as interesting regarding obeying the Law and not receiving Grace thru faith:

Galatians 5:1-9

5 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

Ephesians 2:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God

John 15:2-6Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He (Father God) takes away;
and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear
more fruit.
… He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much
fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered;
and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned
.”

Believers who do NOT (continue to) abide in Jesus do NOT bear fruit and are thrown into the fire!

Matthew 3:10-12 “Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit
is cut down and thrown
into the fire. … (God will) gather His wheat into the barn;
but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

The Son of Man will send out His angels,

all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire.

ALMOST EVERYONE!

But don't worry, it's good news. With God, all things work together for the good.

How's that? Well, it's obviously not a literal fire made to torture people forever. That would be very very bad news - even for those not in it.

The good news is that punishment is KOLASIS not TIMOREISIS - correction not retribution.

So you can't be corrected forever, that makes no sense. You'll get corrected, that's an outcome. And then you'll be part of 'everything made new'. So it's the baptism of fire, the cleansing of sin, the destruction of unbelief, cowardice, idolatry and so on. Regeneration, restoration, renewal, purification, sanctification. It's the omega of HIS SALVATION. Praise the Lord!

Always fascinated by non Jewish believers using the book of Matthew for church doctrine.

Why not use Leviticus while you guys are at it?
If Matthew has your church doctrine then you are required to comply with everything in Leviticus.

Matthew 23:1-3 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, saying the scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do;

Dear Shewd: Being down under or being at the top of the earth, that is a fact!

Another fact=

The Lake of Fire & our God the consuming Fire are one in the same and all of us are destined to dwell in Him.
