What should be in our daily prayers?

Christ taught His disciples and through them us to pray with the Lord's prayer ("Our Father"), so I would start with that. :)

Also the Psalms are filled with wonderful and strong prayers for all sorts of things. Psalm 150 features prominently in the daily prayer of my Church, but there are circumstances where any may be appropriate. For instance, you could pray Psalm 57/56 to be protected from anything or anyone who may trouble you (not as some kind of magic spell, of course, but to pray asking for that protection):

(You don't have to sing it like this guy does; that's just our way, but you could just pray it earnestly.)

All the above. Jesus gave us the outline in the Lords prayer. That's what the Lords prayer is, not that it needs reciting ten times but to use as a guide.

It's reasonable to always give thanks and praise before asking anything. It's reasonable to address the Father through the name of the Son since Jesus is our intermediary and translator, perhaps editor as well. God likes communication, it's not just that we pray but also that we listen, calm ourselves to receive. Scripture says if you are His you can talk/ask anything you want and He will answer. He didn't say you will necessarily like the answer. I remember asking for an easier work load a couple of times, thinking I was about at my limit. Invariably the work load increased and guess what ? I did the work. So sometimes we want to be careful what we ask for, in fact it's always wise to be careful what we ask for. He likes us to be about His business and interests.

I like to pray as things come to mind. It alleviates the possibility of forgetting as the day unfolds and reinforces the practice of praying without ceasing.

My moments with the Lord are a combination of fellowship, intercession, and petition. There are many instances when I seek His company or He grabs mine instead. We commune in prayer and throughout the day.

LaBella, before I retired and was working full time I often opened a prayer in the morning as I went into work and didn't close it till I went home. Prayer without ceasing lol ! I just added to it as the day progressed. It's really just a mind game but it helped me mind my business more than once thinking the phone is off the hook and live so to speak. God loves communication with us though, it's what He wants. I love your mind set on this !

Yes! I love the way you phrased that. It takes a little practice but after awhile you’re always praying. This is a great help to your psyche and temperament. :)

There are times I pray spontaneously, telling God what is on my mind, and sharing my thoughts. I often tell Him how the day has gone, thanking Him for the things that have gone well and asking His help for the things I could have done better. I remember people in need and I ask God to help them. I spend time in silence so I can listen to what God may be saying to me. I also have a Bible handy, and may use one of the daily readings or a reading from the lectionary.

I personally find it helpful to use a prayer book as a guide. The main one I use is the Daily Prayer used in the Church of England which contains prayers for morning, daytime, evening and night time (compline). It is incorporated into my Bible which makes it very handy to use.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Question do you usually write down who you're praying for? And what you're going to pray about? It all just seems overwhelming and I know God dislikes prayers that just go on and on about the same thing.

You remind me that I need a new prayer list. It's in my old phone. I generally have a list of 15-20 people and some families. But I just use the app on my phone, the old phone had One Note, the new one has Samsung Note or something like that. After you enter a couple of people in there you then will come to organize it. I've done church intros using that method as well. You will think of ways to lay it out.

Some prayers are so simple " your will be done Lord but if you would consider this +++++". There are all types of prayer, sometimes healing, sometimes speaking for non believers ( I've had good success with this). And for families of deceased. And don't forget yourself. Prayers don't have to be long and involved, He reads our hearts and minds anyway, but the act of coming to Him is often enough.

So I can make notes on my tablet everyday maybe. That's an idea. I do have a cellphone but it sucks. So tablet is good enough for me.

I use the outline of the Lord's prayer, the unending prayer throughout the day as mentioned above, and this:
(A) Adoration

(C) Confession

(T) Thanksgiving

(S) Supplication

That sums it up ! We need to touch on each to gain effective prayer warrior lives. Now if I could better adhere to that order but indeed that is the order.

The tablet works well. I've used my kindle Fire as well. You can copy paste, email yourself etc. The only problem for me is if there is no wifi in doing a presentation in some remote place. Not thinking here so much about the prayer list but intros for the pastor and getting to my notes.

Yeah... my tablet has no wifi anywhere but at home. Because everybody password protects their wifi (as they should). But imo Walmart shouldn't protect their wifi. It should available to all of their visiting customers. But even grocery stores and stores here protect their wifi.

we all have needs, we all have desires, we all need a miraculous touch from God either in our own lives or those we love and know.

and to ensure these things are what God grants to me, I do exactly what we were "instructed to seek for first."

1. God, to anyone, if I remember or cannot (which hope is the case that YOU GOD remove it from my "memory") but I FORGIVE anyone who has done me wrong, or planning to do me wrong. I give them to You God. May You help them and Bless them and teach them to see Your Ways!!

Yeshua was very clear in the "Lord's Prayer," Our Heavenly Father wants us to forgive those who TRESPASS/DO US WRONG first, before we go to Him on our own behalf..

Another way to pray is to pray the words of Scripture to myself

Being aware of sin in my heart, I can pray
Psalm 51:10-11 Create in me a clean pure heart, (inner man, mind, will, heart) O God; and renew (repair) a right spirit within (inward part) me.

"...first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;" I Tim 2:1-3
