Most of us remember the slogan, 'An apple a day, keeps the doctor away'. Can't say that has always been true for me,but I find apples delicious and they are good for us. Today is international apple day. I like 'Golden Delicious' apples. Which do you like?

I remember years ago we used to walk up to a farm at the top of the hill. Farmer Price, we used to call him, was a "proper" farmer with a traditional Devonshire 'burr'. He owned an orchard where he would let us go in and collect apples. Hundreds of them. There was a gate nearby where an inquisitive 'horsey' would come and poke his nose over. He loved eating the apples we gave him!

Sorry . . . I just plain like apple sauce.

Oh, ok. I'll settle for Granny Smith only because they're sour (gotta watch my hypoglycemia with the sweet stuff). Plus, like my Minnesota cousins showed me, sprinkling salt on them adds some zing.

I see folks spread peanut butter onto slices or eat them with cottage cheese to reduce some of the "bite". Still, it is indeed a diet outlier

I've researched the James Grieve variety, and alas, I don't see it being sold in the U.S. Johnny Appleseed didn't do his job: Johnny Appleseed - Wikipedia

Apples. Daily, my wife blends apples, ginger, banana and some leafy vegetables to make a smooth beverage. Anti-oxidants galore. Changing up the apple variety keeps taste buds interested and makes me forget I'm drinking a visually unappealing mix.
