I know a lot of CF users don't believe in climate change. So I'm just reporting the news:

UN Panel Warns of 'Sweeping and Severe' Consequences of Climate Change | The Weather Channel

I should probably add the summary:

At a Glance
  • The report was released by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
  • Sea levels could rise up to 3 feet by the end of the century.
  • The international team of scientists projected for the first time that some island nations will probably become uninhabitable.
the weather channel, along with msm, is owned by globalists. globalists have an agenda.

That's the point where you want to say to yourself: 'ok, I don't trust this certain source to reach conclusions for me since I think they are too political in some manner ( :) you'd be like me in that actually), and....I wonder what the in-the-field authentic researchers are finding -- plural, meaning a variety of them, in a variety of locations, independent of each other. '

That's not so hard to do, actually, if you have routinely looked up science articles for years and have searched for excellent science news direct from experimentalists and other working scientists. You want sites that don't have any political leaning.

Hal at your service. I know a site that cannot afford to be political or they would lose people like me, who know what is real science, in a minute. A site I know from years of seeing articles there. Here's the site phys.org (phys stands for 'physics') with the climate tag search:

https://phys.org/tags/climate/

Though it can be like drinking from a firehose (which I like myself), this is a good site for giving you the real deal, reliably. Pick a few articles and skim through, and you'll begin to learn about real facts from out in the field.

Here's the 3rd article tagged with 'climate' at the moment in the list:
https://phys.org/news/2019-09-thousands-meltwater-lakes-east-antarctic.html

It's interesting because when surface meltwater sits on top of ice, that water absorbs more sunlight than normal white ice does, and thus absorbs more solar energy into the ice sheet at its location than when there is no meltwater.
I feel like Im reading a rerun of the climate news from the 80s

Please see post just above.

Perhaps it could be:

'It's a global climate change emergency and we urgently need a global solution. We need a global government with a supreme leader. National sovereignty will not be relevant in light of the crisis. For efficiency we need one global financial system, no-one will be allowed to buy or sell apart from the system. To care for spiritual needs and to ensure compliance we need a global inter-faith church. The pope is popular and has shown aptitude for inter-faith relations, he can head this up assisted by the Dalai Lama, Kenneth Copeland and Joel Olsteen. Bible-fundies are not very numerous and can be discounted. Jerusalem and 'peace' will be a point of contention, but a false treaty can be offered to Israel and broken later'
Lol...yeah not to many years back the UN I believe told everyone we had 11 years. Well that came and went.. time to bring it up again I guess.
I've read through some of the responses to this and am too disheartened to read on.
The thing is, the oil companies knew. They have known for 20 years or more. Trump knows, even though he denies it. He is building a sea wall in Ireland to protect one of his golf courses from sea level rise. And regardless of if we believe what 95 percent of climate scientists have determined, we all know the detrimental effects of pollution.
We all know we need clean air and water and land, free from pollutants. And we all know what happens to people's health when the air and water and land become corrupted.
And we all know who profits from deregulation and climate change denial...muliti-national corporations who only care about profit and do not care who they harm.
Follow the money.
"The love of money is the root of all evil."
"Love your neighbor as yourself."
We cannot love our neighbor as ourselves if we refuse to see their suffering.
So, regardless of if people choose to deny climate change, we are still without excuse, because we all know pollution is harmful and that we need clean energy.
The scam is not from globalists. The scam is put forth by polluting industries, multi-national corporations, and those who profit from them; profit from destroying the earth. And only 3 or 4 corporations own 90 plus percent of the media. And it's what they leave out- what we don't hear from them that does as much or more harm than the twisted versions of what is true that we do hear.
Get some public, not for profit radio people. Watch PBS news programs. At least hear both sides. Be willing to listen to what people are going through.
Revelation 11:18... He will destroy those who destroy the earth.
He loves his creation; the people, the animals, the waters, and he
knows we need them.
We cannot love our neighbors as ourselves if we do not care for their environments. Everything is connected.
God bless Gretta Thunburg (sp?) .
Empower, protect and keep her Lord.
key words ... could .... probably

they aren't convinced themselves

The current rate of sea level rise is 1/8 inch per year. I live in Florida about 15 ft above sea level. I calculated if current sea level rise is constant, my lot will be hit by waves at mean tide in 1440 years. By then most oil, gas and coal will be gone.
15 feet seems pretty good elevation right? But it's not ordinary high tide you'd worry about (unless in certain cities already having real trouble in parts of the city like Miami and Charleston). It's when the waves are big and there is some storm surge pushing, and then if a high tide gets added to that -- that's the situation where it begins to matter a lot just how much that elevation is exactly, and how far from the coast, and whether the coastal geography does anything to increase or decrease the surge in the location. Any case, this is just a temporary life, and I'd not be worried to live on the coast so long as I could get to an adequate shelter somehow if a cat 3, 4 or 5 is coming. What was the death toll in the Bahamas anyway? It was more than just a handful of risk takers tho. But, basically if I wanted to live on the coast I'd go for it. Worst case I'd get to the good place sooner.

I would not worry about storm surge as I am more than ten miles inland from the barrier islands. The barrier islands kept watch during hurricane season.

IBM is awesome huh?

Yah. A good friend at church (whom I often get to visit with) works for the weather channel. It's sort of fun to hear him go on about the specific way weather systems work, for short term forecasting.

They are pretty good at forecasting?

I think todays modern day Snowflakes AKA "liberals" AKA todays Left, are just as bad to this planet as climate change.

Not saying that I disagree about taking CC seriously, but even if we fix this our world is still likely screwed due to the Gen-Y ideology that is absolutely insane and irrational. I've never expected anything to just spit on both religion and science.

I woke up today and noticed the weather is different than the previous day’s. Should I sue the previous homeowner or inspector for not pointing this out? I mean, it’s a civil right. It was either complete deception or something people took for granted. I will not accept a middle-ground position! :|

It's an old scam. Climate change rhetoric is Dems. trying to regain power over us because power means money, not only to DC but to Universities for grant money. I'm old enough to know, the climate is just fine.

That's essentially the only argument Climate Change fans have, isn't it? Believe us...just because. ^_^
I think both sides could say this, equally.

I full well do not believe that this climate change, that is real, is going to continue and flood the earth, melt the ice caps, burn us up, cause extinction of humans...

I've read the bible... that's not in the script.

Yes, we should be good stewards of the land and animals.... However, to think that animal flatulence is warming the globe.... nope.

If people want to remove products from their lives, that come from crude oil.... they have a big surprise at trying to do that.

I tend to believe the 1 of 100 presentations that contradict the scaremongering... why? Because the people presenting these counter climate change views have way more to lose and much ridicule to face for presenting their data....

I also believe that "peer" reviews are no longer valid as everyone is agreeing with this one thing or that one thing... in order to put food on their plates.

I think that Gretta Thunberg is going to be a very embarrassed mother as she watches her kids build snowmen, goes to the beach in Florida and enjoys an Alaskan cruise.

Breitbart....

I was waiting for this little gem... it always seems like they can attack the source....

You do realize that if a mentally challenged person states that it's raining.. when it's raining... they are 100% valid in what they say... right?

You also realize that if Alexandria Cortez states that it's Friday... on Friday... then she is right..... don't you?

Just because you don't agree with the source... dosn't
My background education is in physics and engineering, and it's not hard for me to evaluate graphs and science articles.

Climate is an unknown -- in large part unpredictable -- but it has become very political.

I'm not very political.

Here's a good metaphor. Climate is sorta like this:

We are all together in a bus riding on a mountain road which is unfamiliar.

The road ahead is around bends and not visible, and isn't known, in fact we can't guess much except to see what the road has done in the past up till now.

We only know about the past road and the current road immediately ahead a short distance....

With me so far?

Ok, someone in the bus has a instrument he's invented and claims the road ahead has some dangerous road condition.

Some other person in the bus claims he is being "Chicken Little".

You are the bus driver.

What do you do? Do you speed ahead, full speed?

Do you slow down some and take caution?

The road ahead is unknown, but it's obvious that higher speed has more risk, of course, just ordinary common sense.
You charge everyone on the bus a tax....

Actually, you use the best thing... what you said..
in fact we can't guess much except to see what the road has done in the past up till now.

We only know about the past road and the current road immediately ahead a short distance....

I'll take that over any little gizmo someone invented... until it proves itself... Especially if he is charging everyone money because of what his gizmo says. Claiming that he can fix whats coming... IF they pay him.

Cortez was taking a concerning new scientific study and over catastrophizing it. The study itself isn't saying the world will end in 10 years, it's estimating that we have 12 years to try and fix carbon emissions to lower the inevitable environmental damage that we will see grow worse over decades. The world won't end, but it will be radically different by the end of the century, and no one will be able to live the way we've grown used to living.
You're right.. It was Gretchen Thunberg that said 10 years... At this rate we will soon be done before the US election.

Lismore,
Wow, you must've really hurt yourself taking that leap.
We don't need any kind of crisis to lead to a one world money market, we are already close to there, with direct deposit, implants, etc.
Conspiracy theories not based on evidence, facts, or logic, are no different than lies. In fact, they are worse, being by nature complicated, convoluted lies and supposition, designed to confuse and distort the truth.
Have you heard the saying don't believe everything you think?
There is wisdom in it.
Romans 3:13
"Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive." The venom of asps is under their lips."
Revelation 21:18
"But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolators, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulpher..."

Hello Robin. Thank you for your reply. Can you explain what you mean though, I don't understand? You seem to agree with me about a global financial system then say I'm sharing conspiracy theories and lies? Are you upset about the tongue in cheek remarks I made about the Pope and Kenneth Copeland? Or that climate change will be used as a pretext to bring political change? God Bless
