1 Peter 2:11
We are strangers and aliens in this age.

Hebrews 11
Abraham confess it too.. that we are alien and strangers in this age

If we don't understand this, we will get distracted by sin. We are only here for a moment (James 1,4)

The reason why God left us here in this age is because we are ambassador to share the gospel.

We want the truth of us being 'alien and strangers in this age'to get into our spirit. So that we will not desire praise of men and fear anger of men because it doesn't matter. Our citizenship is in the age to come. Walk our life in such a way that we fixed our eyes on Jesus.
1 Peter 1:13

The book of revelation is the most magnificent book in the Bible that talks about the eternal glory of God. (rev11,12) Beautiful description of the eternal glory of our God. You can't stop worshipping when you read the book of revelation. Sin will look boring to us if we have eternal perspective.

You wrote...The reason why God left us here in this age is because we are ambassador to share the gospel.

The Kingdom of Heaven is more than to share the gospel, is about manifesting it. The kingdom of Heaven is not about behaving good so one day we get into Heaven. The Kingdom of Heaven is about knowing God now and realizing whose we are and who we are so His glory may impact this world.

It all depends on your definition of citizenship and your concept of the Kingdom of God. You can be a citizen of a country without being in that country. That's the whole concept of being ambassadors of Christ on earth. The earth once belonged to the devil, it now belongs to Christ through His sacrifice, and if is Christ's, then it belongs to us as well. Jesus will hand earth to the Father once all His enemies are under His feet (death is the last one). We are His ambassadors, we have His authority to destroy the works of the devil by bringing Heavens Kingdom (atmosphere, culture and government) to earth. We wake up to God's reality and it becomes our reality to manifest.

Many will die without seeing Heaven on earth because they believe in Jesus but they are not transformed by the renewing of their minds. They believe Heaven is about choosing between good and bad (you are still eating from the Tree of Good and Evil when you do that), when in reality we are supposed to connect and eat from the Tree of Life (Jesus Himself). In Romans 8 you read that even creation is anxiously waiting because it had hope that the Children of God were going to be revealed/rise up/manifest.

Everyone before Christ didn't receive the promise, we did.

References:

Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is in your midst." Luke 17:20-21

The heroes of faith can't wait to see us run to an awakening of who we are. Manifest the promise:
And all these, (Heroes of Faith) having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 11:39-40, 12:1-2

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised usup together, and made us sit together in the heavenly placesin Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7

But you area chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once werenot a people but arenow the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2: 9-10

Jesus said:
Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (Change the way you think because the Kingdom of Heaven is at arms reach).

Whoever believes in Him greater things they'll do.

Whoever believes in Him the same signs that follow Him will follow them.

That is what Jane meant as she put it in such purely biblical language: "Walk our life in such a way that we fixed our eyes on Jesus."

The kingdom of Heaven is not about behaving good so one day we get into Heaven.
Good does not get us to Heaven, that is a free gifts. Being good gets us rewards in Heaven.

So you behave here for a reward in Heaven, not because you love God? Where are your eyes set on then? I am who I am because my Father is who He is, and because of who He is I am who I am. We are to be a reflection of Christ because we know Him, not because are seeking a reward. Jesus Himself is our reward; to know Him.

You can be a citizen of a country without being in that country.
The Kingdom of God is still a part of us and you can not take that out of us. My wife says: "You can take the Filipino out of the Philippines but you can not take the Philippines out of the Filipino". If the Kingdom of God is in us then we will always do the will of the King. Jesus told us to pray: "Thy Kingdom come Thy Will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven".

So you behave here for a reward in Heaven, not because you love God?
One is not mutually exclusive of the other. If you want we could have a discussion about our love for God, but you should tie that in with our citizenship and not an attack on me. The evidence of our love for God is the love we have for our neighbor: "Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen." 1John 4:20

We are rewarded when we show our neighbor acts of love that they are not able to repay. For example: We are to love our enemy. How are we to love our enemy if the love of God is not in us?

There are people that will suffer loss and not receive a reward and that will be sad.
