One of my favorite events in the Bible.

You can find various translation of Ezek 37 here:

Ezekiel 37 WEB

Ezekiel 37:
1The hand of Yahweh was on me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of Yahweh, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. 2He caused me to pass by them all around: and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and behold, they were very dry. 3He said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? I answered, Lord Yahweh, you know. 4Again he said to me, Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, you dry bones, hear the word of Yahweh. 5Thus says the Lord Yahweh to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.
[John 20:22 Revelation 11:11]

7So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8I saw, and, behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.
9Then he said to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Come from the four winds[Matthew 24:31 Revelation 7:1] breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. 10So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army.
[Luke 2:34 Acts 1:8 Revelation 11:11]

11Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off.
12Therefore prophesy, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, my people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel.
[Matthew 27:62]
=====================================
Here are a few passages and comments on this event.

Luke 2:34
And Simon blesses them and said toward Mariam His mother,
"behold! this-One is set/lying into a Fall and Resurrection/standing-up<386> of many in the Israel, and into a Sign being spoken against"

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,[Acts 2]
and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth/land.”

Revelation 11:
11 And after the three days and half days, a breath of life out of the God entered in them and they stand upon their feet
and great fear falls upon the ones observing them.
12 And they hear a Voice great out of the Heaven saying to them "ascend ye here!"
And they ascended into the heaven in the cloud...

Resurrection in Ezekiel 37:1-14, Can These Bones Live? |

The Meaning of the Dry Bones

The dry bones represented the whole house of Israel.
Metaphorically speaking, Israel’s bones were dry. Their
hope was lost. They were cut off from God who is the
hope of Israel, (Acts 28:14; Col. 1:27).

Israel receives life when they return to God in repentance,
and are reunited in his presence. It is then that he would
open up their graves, and bring them into the land of Israel.

While this prophecy may no doubt have served to give
the captives hope, the scope transcended their physical
captivity and deliverance to something of much weightier
importance.

We commented in other studies on the work and role of
the Holy Spirit and Israel’s new birth mentioned in the
last chapter, (36:24-28). This sets the time of the true
fulfillment beyond the ancient history of the nation to
the time of the apostles, (John 3:7).

The fulfillment begins with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit
on Pentecost in fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy, (2:28-30,
Acts 2:16-20 ).

Speaking of their future restoration to God through Christ,
Isaiah prophesies, “Your dead shall live, together with my
dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell
in the dust, for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the
earth shall cast out the dead. (Isaiah 26:19)

Like the dew that falls upon the earth, providing moisture
to seeds that sprout and grow, God is the dew of Israel,
causing them to rise from the dust, a figurative term
denoting their unredeemed fallen state.

Daniel says the prophecy of Israel’s resurrection takes place
in the time of the end, Daniel 12:1-4. Compare 12:1 and
Matthew 24:21 Israel’s resurrection follows the great
tribulation spoken of as the time of travail upon a woman,
with child,

We have shown the land promise being fulfilled metaphorically
in Christ. It does not refer to the geographical Palestine.

Israel’s hope for resurrection is carried through the New
Testament, (John 5:28, 29; Acts 24:14, 15; 26:6-8;
Romans 13:11, 12; 2 Cor. 5:5).

Israel’s graves are opened when God delivers them from
the bondage of sin to which they were held captive through
the law. (Romans 7:4-6; 10:1-4)

The Valley of Dry Bones and the Resurrection of the Dead - TheTorah.com

The scene of a valley full of dry bones, resurrected before the mental eyes of the prophet Ezekiel (Ezek 37:1-14), is one of the most enigmatic apparitions experienced by this prophet, who is famous for his other unusual visions.

The vision begins when God sets Ezekiel down in a valley full of bones (vv. 1-2) and asks Ezekiel if they can be brought back to life, to which Ezekiel responds that only God knows that (v.3). God then tells Ezekiel to speak this prophecy over the bones (vv. 4-6):.....

Resurrection as a Core Belief in the 2nd Century B.C.E.

Pseudo-Ezekiel is therefore the most ancient witness to the view that the Vision of the Dry Bones speaks of resurrection, and perhaps for the understanding of Isaiah 26:19 as speaking of resurrection.
When we read this text in tandem with the contemporary biblical text, Daniel 12, we can see that by the second century B.C.E., the idea that in the future, individual Israelites would be resurrected—whether all of them or only the pious ones—was already taking a firm hold as a core belief among at least certain groups of Jews.

Today is honestly the first time I've given much time to study this prophecy. It's beautiful!

I'm now reading about "the four winds" because that really caught my attention.
I am a Game of Thrones fan.....and this passage is so descriptive and powerful (and it makes me think of the imagery of the army of the dead in GoT)....but in the case of the Gospel - these dead were given LIFE:

7So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8I saw, and, behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.

9
Then he said to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Come from the four winds[Matthew 24:31 Revelation 7:1] breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. 10So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

St Irenaeus wrote in the 2nd century AD in his treatise, Against Heresies:

“There are four gospels and only four, neither more nor less: four like the points of the compass, four like the chief directions of the wind. The Church, spread all over the world, has in the gospels four pillars and four winds blowing wherever people live. These four gospels are in actual fact one single Gospel, a fourfold Gospel inspired by the one Spirit, a Gospel which has four aspects representing the work of the Son of God. These aspects are like the four cherubs described by Ezekiel. In the prophet’s words: `The first had the like ness of a lion,’ symbolizing the masterly and kingly role of Christ in priesthood; `the second had the appearance of an ox,’ the beast of sacrifice, recalling the perfect sacrifice of Christ; `the third had the face of a man,’ undoubtedly referring to the coming of the Lord in human nature; `and the fourth had the aspect of a flying eagle,’ with a clear allusion to the grace of the Spirit hovering over the Church. [cf. Ezek. 1:10; Rev. 4:7] The four Gospels correspond to these symbols. Christ is at the center of them. John actually speaks of his kingly and glorious Sonship to the Father in his opening words: `In the beginning was the Word.’ [John 1:1] Luke begins with Zaccharias offering sacrifice. Matthew chooses first of all the Lord’s human genealogy. And Mark leads off by calling on the prophetic Spirit which invests humanity from on high.”

Hello mkgal. Ezekiel goes together with Revelation like frosting on a cake.....I hope to translate it some day.

The Hebrew word Yahweh uses for man is "adam" [which is what I would use in my translation]. Perhaps when Jesus refers to "son of man" it could also be taken as "son of Adam"?

Luk 3:38
the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.
Romans 5:14
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.
1 Corinthians 15:
22 For just as in the Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all shall be being made alive.
45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

120 'adam from 119;
ruddy i.e. a human being (an individual or the species, mankind, etc.):--X another, + hypocrite, + common sort, X low, man (mean, of low degree), person.
H120 אָדָם ('adam) occurs 552 times in 527 verses
=================================
There are a few other Hebrew words for man/men:
582 'enowsh en-oshe' from 605;
properly, a mortal (and thus differing from the more dignified 120); hence, a man in general (singly or collectively):-
Strong's Number H582 matches the Hebrew אֱנוֹשׁ ('enowsh),
which occurs 564 times in 530 verses
376 'iysh eesh contracted for 582 (or perhaps rather from an unused root meaning to be extant);
a man as an individual or a male person; often
Strong's Number H376 matches the Hebrew אִישׁ ('iysh),
which occurs 1,639 times in 1,432 verses
=============================
Ezekiel can be seen as a type of Jesus in that He also came to both the common Jews and rebellious Jewish Rulers in the 1st century.

The word "rebellious" concerning the house of Israel is shown a lot in these 1st 6 verses.........

Ezekiel 2:
1 And He is saying to me, "Son of Adam! stand on thy feet! and I shall speak with thee.
2 And a spirit is coming in me when He speaks to me, and stands me on my feet, and I am hearing Him speaking to me
3 And He is saying to me "Son of Adam! I sending thee to Sons of Israel, to Nations rebelling who rebel against Me. They and their fathers transgress against Me until this very day.
4 And the sons obstinate of faces and hard of heart I sending thee to them.
And thou say to them 'Thus says Adonay Yahweh'.
5 And they, whether they are listening or whether they forbearing, (that they a house of rebellion), and they know that a Prophet in midst of them.
6 And thou son of Adam, thou must no be fearing them, neither be fearing their words, though briers and thorns among thee, and thou dwelling among scorpions.
Must not thou are fearing of their words, must not thou be fearing from faces of them, must not be being dismayed, that they are a rebellious house.
7 And thou speak My words to them, whether they are listening or whether they are forbearing, that rebellious they are.
============================
Isaiah 1:
23 Your rulers/princes are rebels, partners with thieves; they all love bribes and chase after gifts. They do not defend the cause of the fatherless; the widow's case does not come before them.
28 - But rebels and sinners shall be broken together, and those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

Ezekiel 20:38

“I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

Hosea 5:2 The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter. I will discipline all of them.
================================
This passage in Daniel could be talking about the 7yrs Jewish Wars leading up to 70Ad Jerusalem?

Daniel 8:23 - “In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a fierce-looking king , a master of intrigue, will arise.

In the 36th chapter of Ezekiel, the prophet tells the story of how all the Lord’s people, Christian Israelites, of Judah, Israel and grafted in: are gathered, redeemed and settled into all of the holy Land. However, before then, the story unfolds;

Isaiah 41:1 - Keep silent before Me you coasts and islands.... Five steps are mentioned here by the prophet; keep silent – When ancient Israel migrated from their captivity in Assyria, they remained hidden until they regained their strength. Then, let them come near – awaken to the true gospel, evangelism from John Wycliffe to Billy Graham, etc.

Let them speak – proclaim the good news around the world.

Still to come is ‘Let us meet in the place of judgement’ Isaiah 41:8-9 God will soon call His people back to the Land, where the administration of His commandments and Laws will be restored. Ezekiel 36:27

Jeremiah 3:8 Israel and Judah divorced from God and sent into captivity for their sins. For a decreed time: Ezekiel 4:4-6

Then God took Ezekiel in a vision to a valley full of dry bones;

Ezekiel 37:11 These bones are the whole house of Israel [All the 12 tribes] They say: our hope is gone, we are cut off. [from God]

Ezekiel 37:9-10 The Lord God says: let the winds [Gods spirit] come and breath into
the slain [dead to the Gospel] that they might live. They came to life and stood
up- a mighty company! [of Christians]

Ezekiel 37:12-13 I will bring you up from your graves [our present condition] and restore you to the Land of Israel.

Through Isaiah, God gives a message to the House of Israel, identifying them as a people who have lost the knowledge of their origin and forgotten their ancestors.

Isaiah 51:1-2 Listen to Me, all you who know the Law [the common Judeo-Christian Law of our countries] You who seek the Lord [Christian peoples] consider your origin, where you came from- Abraham and Sarah are your parents. I blessed them and now you are their offspring.

God is looking forward to the day when the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus is completed. His sacrifice of atonement and salvation is made available to all who accept it and acknowledge their Creator. Everyone who has the faith of Abraham, is deemed to be his offspring. Galatians 3:26-29 One of the Israel of God. Galatians 6:16

The great awakening of all the Israelites is symbolically represented as life from the

dead, for through the Resurrection of Jesus, God demonstrates His power and is enabled to do this; Ezekiel 37:14 I shall put My spirit into you and you will live. [a true Godly life] Thus you will know that I, the Lord has acted and spoken.

And in Ezekiel 37:26-28 I shall make an everlasting covenant with Israel. My sanctuary will be in their midst, I will be their God and they will be My people.

The Glory of God will be present in the new Temple, as in ancient times. Ezekiel 43:1-4
The Return of Jesus for His Millennial reign comes later.

There is no "later" at the end of verse 28.

Eze 37:26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore.
Eze 37:27 My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Eze 37:28 The nations also will know that I, the LORD, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore." ' "

Jesus is with His faithful people now and when they occupy the holy Land, spiritually; as He was with ancient Israel. 1 Corinthians 10:4
When He physically Returns, He will be personally with them forever.
