God wants to supernaturally multiply finances when we give generously.

Jesus addresses covetousness both to the rich and the poor. There are poor that love money just that they don't have it. Whatever Jesus emphasis, we want to emphasize.

The main emotions related to money is fear and covetousness. Instead of fear, act in faith. Instead of covetousness act in faith.

Luke 6:38
We get treasures associated to getting money in this age. The measure of giving generously to His kingdom, He will give back to you.

Matthew 6:19-21
You can't be loyal to God and money. Loyalty to God means laying up heavenly treasure. Loyalty to money means laying up earthly treasures. Use money in a way to lay up heavenly treasure. What we do with our money shows our love for God. We use money to express our love for God. But you can't be loyal to mammon when you are loyal to God. Money is a relational subject to Jesus, what we do with money, He remembers it.

Luke 21
Jesus makes it clear is not about the size of our giving but the size of our sacrifice. The woman that gave two mite gave more than those that gave out of abundance.

Don't lay up on earth treasure. treasure means what a person thinks of as wealth. Our treasure is anything we treasure as priority -position, reputation etc.

That's not been my experience.

Nor has it been the experience of almost all the Christians whom I know.

The only ones who say this are people who, in St. Paul's words, preach that "Godliness is gain," and get rich off the ignorant greed of their audience. They always say that their wallets are the field you should sow your money into.

God’s blessings are the result of my obedience and His grace. Giving had little to do with it. He blessed me financially before I came to faith and after the fact.

What, exactly, does this actually mean in any theologically meaningful way?

I definitely agree with a lot of what you are saying. We shouldn't operate in fear when it comes to our money and definitely give room for generosity. God should be first in our heart and if we disobey God in order to keep money that's definitely dangerous. I also think God does bless us when we are generous though it is often not a financial one.

Many people who say this mean, give generously to me, the preacher and not being generous to Christian missions, charities etc.

The false teaching of the prosperity gospel has made many Christians highly suspicous of these sort of encouragements.

God wants you 100%, but your money does go along with you. God the creator of the universe does not "need" your money even to multiply, but we need to give to grow. It is our privilege and honor to be part of God's work here on earth, to allow God to work through us.
God has plenty of "money", but we need to enjoy His Joy, by doing stuff for His other children.

Sounds like a quasi-pyramid scheme.

There are poor that love money just that they don't have it.

And there are some who would "give generously" in order to get even more in return. I'm not sure how it's "generous" though to "give" financially with the expectation that you receive more money in return. That's not generous giving; that sounds more like shrewd investing.

Luke 6:38
We get treasures associated to getting money in this age. The measure of giving generously to His kingdom, He will give back to you.

Luke 6:35 ..."expecting nothing in return..."

Yet it seems you say to expect something in return.
