Hi, we have been freed from the Law being our overseers once it has led us to Christ as our Savior. The Law is like the taskmaster in Egypt. Always demanding more but giving no power to make the bricks and all the other demands still of the Law still with it demands hanging over us, Constantly demanding, constantly judging you constantly against anyone under it. really enjoyed your post thanks. The verse in Colossians means that Jesus Christ's finished work is complete. He obeyed the law of God and then took the penalty of death we deserved for our disobedience to it. The law is still in effect, but it is for unbelievers, not Christians (1 Timothy 1:8-11). Christians now live by grace through faith (Galatians 3:11); responding to the indwelling Holy Spirit guiding us from within. And, as the Bible says, "love is the fulfillment of the law (Romans 13:10)." We don't live by following commandments because a commandment is a law. And because of the forgiveness we have (Colossians 2:13), there is no penalty for violating the law. Therefore, the law is obsolete in our lives (Romans 5:13; Galatians 5:23). We use the law to show an unbeliever that they are spiritually dead to God in sin, not to live by.
Grace and Peace
Thank you. Freedom from the law and the bondage of its impossible demands on our flesh is the key to approaching our God with confidence (Hebrews 4:16). We cannot get to know our God under the law (Galatians 3:10). Only through His grace can we begin to experience His unconditional love (Romans 8:35-38), total acceptance (Romans 15:7), complete forgiveness (Romans 4:8), and His resurrected life in us (Romans 5:10). Hello!
So ive been thinking abut this and im a bit confused. God put the 10 commandments in place billions of years ago which lead up to todays generation. When jesus came around, he said,"I have not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it" And one prophecy concerning the sabbath (wrking on sunday? idk) says in amos, "When will the new moon be over that we may sell grain, and the sabbath be ended..." Amos 8:5 and then the lord answers in verse 9. When jesus is asked by a rich man about which commandments to follow he replies with, "you shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, steal, give false testimony, honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 19:18) And in Colossians, it appears that the mosaic law was taken away when scripture says, "having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us, he has taken away, nailing it to the cross.' (Colossians 2:14) Here are my questions: What does this verse mean?, If jesus fulfilled ceremonial law, then wouldn't that take away the sabbath? Which commandments do we follow if this is the case? From a fellow believer- Michael V
You abolish the law which is the will of God.. you abolish the will of God. Sounds like the Adversary might like that idea. Wonder if it had a hand in creating that doctrine of man.it would be ridiculous for Him to abolish the Law in any way - He would be abolishing Himself.
The written laws described as from Moses are in the the Torah. Laws of God outside of the the Pentateuch were described by Paul as faith or prophesy. Jesus came not to do away with laws against murder or adultery, but to show what works might be done by one who believes. He healed many people.

What commands in the NT and not in the OT? Are you saying that Yeshua and The Father are at odds? A divided house can not stand...
Clearly we are unequipped to follow the entire Law perfectly, but that isn't the point. We don't throw the baby out with the bathwater and say, "forget the obligation to obedience to the Law!" - we take the GRACE given to us by the sacrifice of the Word of God Himself, and say, "Let's try to be just like Him - honoring the Father with love and obedience." He will correct us along the way and show us how and in what quality to follow the Law - but we have to understand obedience to the Law is an expectation that comes with being who we say we are (Christians). We can now follow the Law without the burden of penalty (read: death), because that is the GRACE afforded to us by the sacrifice of the Word of God (and, His resurrection because of His Perfection as Son of Man), and the promise afforded to us by the New Covenant, and technically the Old Covenant given by the Most High God.
Hi Bible what do you think of Titus 2: 11-15If you obey the Old Law, you must obey all of it according to Romans 2.
Also, Jesus says for us not to put new wine into old wineskins otherwise they will burst.
Furthermore, Hebrews 12:14 says the Law has changed.
Hi Bible what do you think of Titus 2: 11-15
your right we do not throw the baby out with bathwater, Neither are we called to live but the Law which has no Grace in it and places men in the position serve or die.
When the Lord lifted the curtain between the seen and the unseen we were shown Satan making the claim "Job" only serves because he has no choice which is what Saint says when men are under Law. But when men are under the Royal Law of Love where there is no do it or else instead its a do it because you love and are free to do so. Enjoying exchanging ideas with you. thanks
So much for the Lake of Fire crew.
quite the contrary. There is a GWTJ that all men will stand before. Some before the go to eternal damnation or hell the rest are at the GWTJ before the enter eternity with the Christ. So much for the Lake of Fire crew.
Do you know how nice it is when brothers dwell in unity of correct doctrine, I think you do. thanks for making my night and may He come for soon. God blessHello, and good evening to you in the Lord.
Well, Titus 2:11-12 is one of my favorites. Most think God's grace is a license to sin on some level. But Titus 2:11-12 says that God's grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and that we should live righteously and godly in this present world. God's grace does not teach us to sin, or to treat sin lightly, but to deny sin and to live righteously. That was what God's grace teaches.
I believe the "blessed hope" that we are to look to in Titus 2:13 is the Pre-Trib Rapture. We are to be ready spiritually at any moment and we are to look forward to His return whereby we are always waiting and watching for our Lord to take us home. That should be our mindset. The "blessed hope." For their is hope in Jesus. Titus 2:14 says the same thing as Ephesians 5:25-27. In Titus 2:14, Christ died for us so that He will redeem us from all iniquity or sin within our lives. This is what God's grace teaches. A life of holiness. Christ can help us to overcome the power of grievous sin in our lives. We don't have to steal, lies, cheat, lust, etc.; Or live for ourselves alone instead of living to serve the King and in loving others. Ephesians 5:25-27 says that Christ died for us so that He might sanctify and cleanse us with the washing of the water of the Word (Scripture) so that we might present to Himself a church that is holy, and blameless. Same line of thinking here in Titus 2:14. Titus 2:15 is saying that we should tell others these things and do not let them disregard what we say on this matter. Meaning, we should fight the good fight and defend the faith. Of course this should be done in love and respect.
I was referring to this line as it contrasts those who would rather use fire and brimstone (do it or else)there is no do it or else instead its a do it because you love and are free to do so.
It depends on what rabbinical commentary you rely on. In Israel the elevators stop on every floor from sundown Friday til sundown Saturday. This is because they thought pushing an elevator button is work. They are not allowed to light a candle during the Sabbath as it is work. They cooked enough food for 24 hours before Sabbath began. The Orthodox can not walk more than about half a mile on Sabbath. Some blocked off their neighborhoods so people could not drive there during the Sabbath.
If you obey the Old Law, you must obey all of it according to Romans 2.
