From wikipedia (I added emphasis):

Crime in the United States has been recorded since colonization. Crime rates have varied over time, with a sharp rise after 1963, reaching a broad peak between the 1970s and early 1990s. Since then, crime has declined significantly in the United States,[1] and current crime rates are approximately the same as those of the 1960s.[2]

From Pew Research:

Violent crime in the U.S. has fallen sharply over the past quarter century.

Property crime has declined significantly over the long term.

Public perceptions about crime in the U.S. often don’t align with the data. Opinion surveys regularly find that Americans believe crime is up nationally, even when the data show it is down.

I concede there have been some increases in crime in the 1970s and 1980s.

Crime is only the most visible aspect of human evil.

All men died in Adam at the fall.
All men are rebels against God.
All men hate God and His word, until they are saved.
I don't hate god and I don't rebel against god.
Just as I don't hate fairies and I don't rebel against fairies.
Just as I don't hate Darth Vader and I don't rebel against Darth Vader.

When one rebels against God's rules they rebel against God.

why are there so many evil people in the world?
Depends what you mean by evil. More people are losing faith and eventually there will be more unbelievers than believers. Rejecting God allows Satan to have his way which is what he wants. Satan wants to be God but in an anti-God way. We are seeing humans have the ability to play God with modern technology and soon we will have designer babies and be able to manipulate the code of life. This may bring some good results as far as helping people but it also allows humans to play god. I think the more we remove God from the equation the more we will go down a path of sin. Evil is the end result of living in sin and many sins such as pride and greed are not necessarily seen as evil.

There has always been sin and evil but now we are seeing a new level of sin where evil acts are more depraved and well more evil. inappropriate content is now a normal part of life and teens are exposed to this and are seeing this as the normal way to have relationships. From this sexual immorality has grown. Pedophilia is becoming organised and more common. With the acceptance of things like abortion and different sexual orientations we are seeing designer babies where a fetus will be aborted because it is the wrong sex or has some minor abnormality.

Young people suffer mass mental illness and are losing respect for elders. In the past a young person would not have attacked teachers, parents or the law like they do today. There is more sexual promiscuity, marriage is treated as nothing and people are willing to have affairs on each other. Young people are put in positions where they cannot handle relationships and as a result there are many poor consequences like underage pregnancies and emotional and mental health problems. All this is eroding the sacredness of a relationship between man and women.

I agree. However the very real improvements are being threatened by a rise of right-wing politics throughout the first world and increasingly effective tyranny in other areas.
Evil according to God doesn't work in a way where we can cite stats. If we take the sacredness of the relationship between man and women as in the bible. Though you say that women's rights have improved this was a reaction to men dominating. Now women are ascending it has been at the cost of men being made out to be monsters and now they are losing rights. This has led to many males suffering mental illness and suicide. Who said that maybe it was best for males to be the hunters and women to look after the children (evidence seems to support this). As a result this has led to many other problems like women putting off having a family, out of marriage pregnancies including teen pregnancies and many relationship and family breakdowns.

When we see crime rates go down there is usually another issue that goes up as a result such as addiction and mental health problems. When we see some prospering with better standards someone else is losing out such as how poverty is growing in western nations who are suppose to be an example of successful economies. Because we place so much importance of individual rights it comes at the cost of some other right. There is never a balance and that is because humans choose to do things their way rather than listen to God on these matters. So stats do not show the real picture when it comes to humans rejecting God and doing things their way.

Whether the Bible teaches that the world will get better is debatable - some readers interpret all the predictions of doom and gloom as referring to events in the first century.

What is clear is that, in general and over long time scales, life is definitely getting better - much better - for almost all people. This does not mean that there are not very serious threats facing us. But the data is pretty clear - things are getting better.
I thought the bible talks about when Christ comes back ther world will have fallen away from God like in the days of Noah. So most people will be rejecting God and living in sin. This is not in the time of the bible because it refers to Christs second coming.

Some people would like to think that the world is more ‘evil’, because it suits their narrative about the world ending.

Fact is, the world has never been better, overall, than it is at present, with regard to man’s relationship with his fellows...

When there are high levels of anxiety & depression, even among children, I think we can assume that something is not right about society.

"The American Psychiatric Association ran a poll on 1,000 U.S. residents in 2017, and they found that nearly two thirds were "extremely or somewhat anxious about health and safety for themselves and their families and more than a third are more anxious overall than last year." (Medical News Today)

"U.S. suicide rates are at their highest since World War II, according to federal data—and the opioid crisis, widespread social media use and high rates of stress may be among the myriad contributing factors." (Time June 20, 2019)

The topic is about the WORLD, not just one strange subset of humanity in which the inhabitants keep a gun in each pocket...

And, even in the US, violence and crime rates are lower than they have been in decades. Higher suicide rates aren’t necessarily because people are being more ‘evil’ towards one another...

Because of globalisation, we no longer conquer other tribes. We no longer associate as "our" race, "our" culture. We are all a mix of many cultures and we are all the human race.

I agree. Humans tend to be driven by “narratives”, not facts.

But we need to reign in this impulse, and defer to what the world tells us, not what we tell ourselves.

The evidence is overwhelming - things are getting better on the whole.

I don't rebel against god's rules, just like I don't rebel against the rules of the sith.

I meant the God. Also, the rules are now spiritual, not literal.

But we don't know that. I had to be taught that the banjo came from Africa. I thought it was a uniquely American instrument. I also thought that the music was ours as well, and was shocked to learn that it has a Scots-Irish origin.
