I guess this is news now:

By Phil Helsel

On a night that featured the Democratic debate, President Donald Trump said he's being cast in a harsh light.

Trump's complaint wasn't about the candidates vying for the nomination and the chance to make the 45th president a one-termer, but was rather was directed at light bulbs.

"People said what's with the light bulb? I said here’s the story, and I looked at it: The bulb that we're being forced to use — No. 1, to me, most importantly, the light's no good. I always look orange," Trump said during a speech at a House Republican retreat dinner.

The audience at the 2019 House Republican Conference Member Retreat Dinner laughed at the comment.

It's not the first time the president has been described as orange. The hue of his hair and skin are often a source of jokes among his critics.

He said he's not the only one that the bulbs affect: He told the crowd that they, too, take on an orange tone under the lights.

Rest of this intriguing example of journalism:
Trump: I look orange, but so do you

Does he mean the curly bulbs or the LED ones? I never liked the compact fluorescents, but I think many LED bulbs are a suitable replacement to incandescent. And with LEDs we can even have those antique-looking Edison-style bulbs which certainly wasn't possible with the fluorescent bulbs.

My main issue with LED bulbs is that they still usually block half the bottom of the bulb with cooling elements (I think) which isn't suitable at all for certain applications like reading by a lamp. All the light is directed upwards... I have found on brand of LED bulbs that actually is a full bulb. And they were cheaper, too. I'm not sure why more companies haven't done that.

I also have one random "Finally" bulb which is based on Tesla's technology. Seems to work very well, though it does flicker once in awhile. But the light is very nice and natural.

It has been far too many years, and he was probably joking though who knows, but he is wrong about incandescent light. Back in my camera/film days it was quite well known that incandescent light was warm in color so that with a standard daylight film a subject photographed under such light would tend towards warm (orangish) color. Fluorescent lights tend to cast a subject in a greenish color ... and it used to be that one could purchase correction filters for various light sources.

My understanding is that one can purchase energy efficient bulbs in a wider range of color temps. It can be researched but I believe the old daylight film was about 4800K with incandescent at 2700K, fluorescent probably 1000K higher.
So his suggestion of incandescent would not be beneficial to his decidedly orange skin tones.

So we can have a blue Trump? :)
