I think there is improvement. It's hard to tell with the accidents that I've had, especially in my wheelchair. Let's put it this way - I need a new wheelchair.
I see two therapists tomorrow - one physical therapist and one occupational therapist. I questioned OT because I'm retired, but I didn't understand that was teaching you tricks to do what you want to in different ways (i.e. something as simple as putting your socks on can be difficult for me). I now have a plastic gizmo that makes it pretty easy. So, I'm just going to do what they tell me to and see what happens. Thanks for asking.
I have prayed for you, Tom, that the physical and occupational therapies will be of great benefit to you. My father had back troubles for many years and also took advantage of a few gadgets to ease things for him, such as something to help him slip his shoes on without having to bend over. It took years, but my father is now practically pain free all the time, as his problem slowly rectified itself without intervention by the docs. The doctors had hinted that this was a possibility and I am glad to say it happened for him. I realise that may not be possible for you, but I do pray that the pain you experience will be greatly lessened and kept under control so you can get about with ease and enjoy your day.
