Whenever I go out in the sun, my friends have often commented that my neck looks like a back fog light. Hot sunny places and my skin don't seem to mix very well unfortunately, so I won't be travelling anywhere too near the equator very soon.

Here are some places on my to-do list:
1. New Zealand
2. Newfoundland
3. South Africa
4. New York

Until I get some quality time off, it looks like I'll be staying in merry olde England for the time being. Life is never completely dull here. We have a crap government, the weather is predictably wet, the coast is never more than a couple of hours away. Even near where I live there are plenty of castles, as well as remains of Roman and iron age settlements.

In the US, I'd like to get to the Grand Canyon. Not terribly expensive of a trip beyond the overnight accommodations (I can camp but would prefer a bed and a shower) and the gas.

I'd also like to visit Florida one more time...and just enjoy the beaches and wildlife, this time not in pain and not juggling a softball schedule. Florida is an expensive vacation so not one I will likely be taking anytime soon.

Worldwide, I want to travel but don't know where I want to go. I used to want to see the pyramids but that doesn't seem to have as big of a draw anymore. So I ma not sure.

I don't care where I go, I just want to take backroads to get there. A trip across country taking all backroads would be my dream trip. I don't want to get above 35 mph. So, yeah, it would be a long trip, haha. I love to see the small towns and country side. Sometimes driving home from work I just take backroads, which isn't hard to do where I live. ;)

If you had an unlimited budget and the ability to travel anywhere in the world, what would be the one place or sight that you want to visit?

I went to Israel nine times starting in the 90's. I carried a camera and a notebook. I met some Jewish Christian people. I had the fellowship of other English speaking tourists at guesthouse breakfast tables. I went to Holy sites, antiquities sites and museums. I crossed the Israeli border at Eilat and toured the Sinai in a cab for two days during 1999 before Al Qaeda started blowing up hotels there. I only knew a few words of Hebrew and Arabic. In 2006 the Hezbollah War broke out while I was hiking on Mt. Meron near the Lebanese Border. Tourists were asked to leave Galilee as rockets were hitting houses and farm workers were afraid to go out into the orchards for fear of rocket strikes. I talked to retired a Jewish fisherman who fished the Sea of Galilee and had learned English. He told me some of the best fishing spots on the north end of the lake. One was at Tabgha near Capernaum where the tilapia swam in schools. I studied the Bible, Christian history, Jewish Talmud and Biblical archaeology/history publications between trips. Every time I learned some Hebrew I started to forget it as soon as I returned to the states.

I had thought about revisiting the SW USA, but keep putting it off. Some people who went on long journeys returned home poorer than when they left.

I would like to do that, fish the Sea Galilee. Did you do any fishing?

No. Some locals were using treble hooks, rod and reel to snag tilapia at the Tiberias marina. One used a cast net. I read online an American caught a tilapia with a fly rod, but most describe tilapia (St. Peter’s fish) as vegetarian. They sold fresh fish in Tiberias markets. Over fishing or pesticides may have caused a recent decline in the fish population in the lake. Joppa on the Mediterranean where Peter stayed (Book of Acts) has a fishing fleet. Old men fished from the shore for hours and caught nothing.

I've ticked off most already - I made it my sole objective once funds were available, and when I was well and truly independent with no ties to get out and see the world. Places like Hong Kong were so good that I actually plan on perhaps living out there for a stint and learning the language.

New York is my second most visited city besides London - Amsterdam is the first. New York has a way of reeling you in and making YOU it part of IT. It's also THE place to go if you're a bit of a procrastinator and want to get stuff done. It will indoctrinate you into believing that anything is achievable, and that YOU have the power to do it (I attribute this to the people - even kids as young as 8 are on the streets trying to make a living.) Also, Brooklyn is the best place you can be on July 4th.

Seoul is the REAL city that never sleeps, New York stays up till midnight, Seoul is as busy at 4am as it is at 4pm. It really is the ultimate 24 hour city. Nightclubs just don't shut, or stop, at all, ever. If you're under 30 Itaewon is a must. And I guess Shinjuku, Tokyo too (just don't talk to or make ANY eye contact with anyone who approaches you trying to make friends or invite you to 'a bar they know'.)

I guess now my focus is on places like Africa, Bangladesh, the outback, and, actually, quite a lot of Europe. I really haven't seen enough of Europe. Even as a resident of the UK,I haven't been any further north than Luton. I should fix that.

Finland. It's about 72% forest. I love forests. I'd also love to spend a year or so in Alaska.

Both of my parents and oh about half my other family members work for Delta. On account of that I pretty much have had the ability to travel wherever I please. At least as far as the flights go. I appreciate it a bunch but I've found on account of traveling a lot is that what I like best is nature. I like when nearly all the sound you hear is from nature. I love camping, fishing, just being outdoors.

Adding Newfoundland to my list too. That's a good one.

Everyone I know seems to think the idea of a perfect holiday is spending a couple of hundred quid to get rat faced on some crowded beach in Ibiza. I love the kinds of holidays where you can immerse yourself in the experience, get to walk on foot and see breathtaking scenery, meet the locals. Newfoundland is definitely one of those places you can do all these things! :)
