I wasn’t preached into the Kingdom of God by using the fear of hell but I was drawn into the Kingdom by the love of the Father.
I was taught the love of God through the fear of hell. How? Jesus displayed that love to destroy that fear. So I was brought to the kingdom through both.
Amen!!

Just like the lyrics in "Amazing Grace".

God is GOOD!!!!

Yeah, that's what I talking about the Gospel of FEAR, good ole Hell Fire and Brimstone FEAR.

But then again John said this.

1 Jn. 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

And Matthew

Mat. 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

How about Charles Wesley?

And can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Savior’s blood
Died He for me, who caused His pain
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

interesting -- but my question was about the option that the Bible is telling the truth
I am reminded of Jesus naming certain actions but also conditions of our heart that are required for salvation. He condemned some and praised others. I would quote such-and-such parable to you but quoting scriptures is annoying when you only have a phone.

Yes of course as Christians we all believe that the Bible tells the truth. That has never kept people from using the word for whatever purposes that happen to be in their will and understanding. Therefore we should all be cutting off evils and casting them away least the evils in our will and understanding drag us down and further away from God.

I'm getting more and more convinced that the people that go to hell deserve to be there. It makes me breathe a sigh of relief. God knows what he's doing!

He left His Father’s throne above
So free, so infinite His grace
Emptied Himself of all but love
And bled for Adam’s helpless race
‘Tis mercy all, immense and free
For O my God, it found out me!
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shoudlst die for me?

Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light
My chains fell off, my heart was free
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou, my God shouldst die for me?

No condemnation now I dread
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine
Alive in Him, my living Head
And clothed in righteousness divine
Bold I approach the eternal throne
And claim the crown, through Christ my own
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou my God, shouldst die for me?

Amen. THAT'LL grip one's heart. It's a GOOD thing. It reminds me of just how MUCH (and THEN some) of what HE has done for me.

i NEED those reminders.

Thank you.

This song below comes to mind. God uses it to bring me to my knees and to just ask God to cleanse my heart, mind, and soul of those things that i soooo overlook and get so distracted, that i don't have an awareness of how much i'm "tuning Him out", etc.

Thank you for posting those lyrics.

i needed this.

It is to warn people to wake up to the eternal danger of their soul, and God works in such people to listen.
Nowhere does it say in the Bible that people converted because they heard about hell

John the Baptist preached such warnings to Israel, and we read the following:

"But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." - Matthew 3:7-10

If no one used hell to warn people to convert, why did John say any of the things above? Didn't he "turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers" (Malachi 4:5)? He obviously prepared the hearts of the Jews for salvation in Christ.

Those were people who believed in God.
Did the Apostles or St. Paul talked about hell during Acts?

Acts 17:30-31, when he preached to the Athenians about judgment day.

John the Baptist preached such warnings to Israel,

Mark 1:4
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

John did not Preach the Gospel of Salvation which you are speaking of.

If it wasn't Christ, then what did he preach repentance to?

Then I guess I am glad that Jesus thought the same thing.

Mat 3:13-15
13) Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14) But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15)
And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

If Jesus hadn't been Baptized for the remissin of sins, where would we all be now.

Did Jesus receive Salvation at that time also?

But wait Jesus did go to Hell didn't He?

Do you mean when I got saved I was supposed to burn my house too? :doh:Man, I hate it when I'm left out of the loop.
Saved is a different word, we are talking about the word repent. This is three letters. one represents a house or dwelling, one represents fire to burn down that house, then the third letter represents a door. This is how we become a part of the Kingdom of God. We depart from the old and we become a part of the new.

To be saved you have to nail it to the cross. The atonement is through the Blood of Jesus. The word saved is a nail - hand - nail - fire - Eye ===== Vav - Yod - Vav - Sheen - Ayin The only letter that saved shares with repent is the Sheen for fire or to devour or consume.

I've noticed that some here think it is wrong to preach that unless people will repent they will end up in hell, saying we shouldn't scare people into the kingdom. I beg to differ. Hell is something to be feared and avoided at all costs, and it is one that should exhort and encourage sinners to get right with God.

Did Jesus ever preach hell to make sinners fear of entering it? Yes!

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." - Matthew 7:13-14

"And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched" - Mark 9:43

"But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him." - Luke 12:5

There are many other such passages. It would be wrong to leave that part out of our evangelism to the lost, for Jesus never was silent about it!
The point was to fear God, not to fear hell, and that is where all to many get very confused...

Only fear of hell only, will only take you there in the end...

Allow others already on their way there to manipulate you into going there, etc... In the end, etc...

God Bless!

Saved is a different word, we are talking about the word repent.

Oh, I'm sorry, when I got Saved I Repented of my life of Sin, being Baptized into Christ I was buried with Him, dead to the Flesh, and rose in again with Him in His Resurrection unto Newness of life, in the Spirit.

My body of Sin was destroyed, by Him because sin in the Flesh was destroyed.
