God is ultimately the one who will destroy the earth when it's time is due
Already there are places on earth that are being destroyed. Select areas of the Earth are being destroyed by wind or fire.

You would only be able to extract stored energy. The essence of what makes up a person would pass right though. If a shark were to eat an arm or leg, you will receive that back at the resurrection. It will pass right through the shark.

That's true but it also reduces human population. Less humans, less resources, and thus, energy to sustain human population.

Stringent global birth control laws would also work...... but not exactly easy nor simple to implement.

Consider the fact, not every ethnic groups have the same number of population. So if we have to preserve all ethnic groups equally while having sweeping birth control, some of them would have less stringent number of children policy (ethnic groups with low fertility rates) while others would have more stringent policy (ethnic groups with high fertility rates).

That of course is quite controversial in nature. But if we let our pride and selfishness disappear for a moment, I think such programs will work.

An average 1 child global birth policy would reduce our population in 100 years to highly sustainable levels.....ENOUGH for all people in the world to experience at least upper middle class quality of life in a highly automated society.

I wish the fans of shark fin soup would realize that. :sigh: That’s what I term people who destroy the earth. Trying to take from others what is essentially their’s by immoral motives and methods. Like producing like is God's law I see attempting being defiled.

The bible said the poor would always be with us. And God inspires some to have large families or adopt many children. Human mandates won’t circumvent the Lord. If He said always He meant it.

The command to increase in numbers is situational in the Bible.

When it was needed, God actually commanded the Jews and repeated the command to them at other times.

God did this in the Genesis (for obvious reasons) and then during Babylonian Captivity. Two separate times.

It would be interesting that Israel will face a dark period after Jesus left. But Jesus didn't tell the Jews to increase in numbers anymore (in literal terms). That time has passed.

Jesus meant a different thing whenever He said to increase in numbers - in the context of increasing the number of believers by preaching the Gospel.

And God does not want people living together in huge numbers (Tower of Babel incident). If the Bible doesn't discuss this extensively, there's plenty of reasons why it's a bad thing - disease, pollution, crime.

It would not be possible of course if the Earth is populated up to the neck. That's not the Will of the Lord for one thing, it will make life a lot harder for everyone. It's a lot worse in a 3rd world country, I know because I live in one. So yep, don't wish for it...

Please remember that you are in the Catholic forum. We do not practice birth control.

And there are many Americans adopting children from those places who already have families. I know several and they’ve built wonderful ministries around their work.

The world is a big place. What would be unfeasible in one area isn’t a hardship in others. You are operating from a limited perspective based on your circumstances. Understandably so.

But we’re addressing a limitless God who doesn’t have those constraints. He sees and knows all.

I feel guilty for saying this because I feel like I'm not supposed to feel this way but am I the only one who is not caring about the issue of climate change?

I wouldn't say that I don't care about it, but I will say that I don't worry about it. Besides, it's happened before---Greenland was ice-free between 8,000 to 11,000 years ago, and was ice-free again before that between 116,000 to 130,000 years ago----and there certainly weren't any human industrial activities taking place during either one of those periods to cause the warmer climate. Conclusion? Planet Earth is going to do what it's going to do, and while we human beings may contribute to it in some small infinitesimal way, I don't believe that our activities will destroy the planet....we're just not that powerful. I think scientists are studying a big, complex system that they really don't know a lot about, and they're freaking out about something that human beings can't control or change, even if they wanted to. Besides, I also believe in an omnipotent God, Who is in charge of all things, and He'll look after those who follow Him. :)

Or, as I heard anther guy put it one time, "Under the most rigorously controlled conditions of heat, pressure, and a host of other variables, any given biological organism (of which Earth is definitely one) will do pretty much whatever it cotton-pickin' well pleases. ;)

It's a test. God is testing us.

Remember the Parable of the Faithful servant.

The Master allowed the servants to do as they please with the everything the Master owns.

But they will still be judged according to what they did. It's a test.
We must be very careful not to twist scripture. The parable of the faithful servant is a direct reflection of Jesus's return, not the destruction of our planet at to our hands. There are multiple examples found in scripture such as Noah's ark and Sodom and Gomorrah which explain the reason for such widespread destruction of the earth solely being based off of a moral decay within society at large. If you look at Matthew 24, Jesus lists many things that will happen before His second coming and there is much destruction to come.

"Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age? ”And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." Matthew 24:3-8

No amount of "saving our environment" will prevent this from occurring so why then do we worry about such things?

"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." Colossians 3:2

Yes, exactly. And look at the moral decay happening simultaneously around the world, especially in the West. It's not mere coincidence, but definitely a sign of the times.

This is the end of the Church age and the beginning of the Kingdom Age. They call this the manifest Son's & Daughters of God.

I'll clarify what I meant...I meant that I have a hunch that the people in our government who are pushing the climate change doctrine have a motive - we don't know if the earth is naturally changing its climate, how much man has to do with it (I'm not discounting man's involvement), and whether a gargantuan spending amount to combat the climate change is sustainable. Some people in the political sphere say that these natural disasters that are happening don't have anything to do with God (e.g. Beto O'Rourke), and that really turned me off...
