I'm reading this at the moment - tying Revelation with Exodus 19 (Moses on Mt Sinai):

Quoting Adam Maarschalk:

Series: “Little Gems from Our Study of the Book of Revelation”

What point(s) did John, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wish to get across to his initial readers when he distributed the book of Revelation to seven churches in first century Asia Minor? What themes are weaved through the book? In considering these questions, keep in mind that the full title of the book is “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Proposal: One of the Holy Spirit’s aims in Revelation is to guide the early church in navigating the transition period from one covenant (the old) to the next (the new), especially as that period was drawing to a close. This period lasted roughly 40 years (30 AD – 70 AD), parallel to the 40 years that the Israelites wandered in the wilderness.

Basis (one of several): The same imagery that was present at the giving of the law, the old covenant, is echoed several times in the book of Revelation (4:5, 8:5, 11:19, and 16:18). This post will highlight these passages and their significance.

Parallel Scripture Passage: “In that He says, ‘a new covenant,’ He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away” (Hebrews 8:13, 1st century AD).

Moses and the Israelites at Mount Sinai
Just before examining these passages in Revelation, let’s look at Exodus 19, the passage I believe they echo:

In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai. For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. So Israel camped there before the mountain. And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

…Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly (Exodus 19:1-18).

So we see that God reminded them of how He bore the people of Israel “on eagles’ wings”* out of Egypt and to Himself. God was establishing a covenant with them at this time, and He called them to be “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”** This gathering was marked by thundering and lightning, the sound of a loud trumpet, thick smoke, and the whole mountain quaking greatly.

*Compare to Revelation 12:13-14, where the persecuted woman “was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.”

**Compare this with John’s opening greeting to the seven churches, where he says that Jesus “has made us kings and priests to His God and Father” (Revelation 1:6).

Four Passages That Echo Mount Sinai in Revelation
echoes-of-mount-sinai-in-revelation-e1395780259961.jpg
The same cosmic phenomena present at Mount Sinai are seen again in the book of Revelation.

When the dust settles from the barrage of judgments in Revelation, what does heaven shout? “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God” (Rev. 21:3). This did not suddenly become true because some buildings fell in 70 AD. Remember that Paul told the Corinthian church this was already their reality and that they were “the temple of the living God“ (II Cor. 6:16). The downfall of Israel, Jerusalem, and the temple in 70 AD, however, did remove the far less glorious old covenant system which competed against, and greatly opposed, this reality. It was a stunning and vivid demonstration that God had chosen the glorious new covenant over the inferior old covenant (see Hebrews 8). This was the time for rewarding God’s “servants the prophets and the saints, and those who fear [His] name, small and great (Rev. 11:18). ~ Search Results for “second exodus” – Pursuing Truth

....And this:

Quoting N.T. Wright: First, the story of Israel, particularly the Exodus, was far more present in Paul’s mind than is usually supposed, informing his reflection on what had happened with the death and resurrection of Israel’s Messiah and the gift of the promised Spirit. Second, there is no great gulf between justification and baptism in Paul’s thought. Both have to do with the reconstitution of the people of God and their new public definition as a single worldwide family marked out by faith alone. Third, the fact that God’s people will inherit the newly liberated creation ought to energize a proper concern for the created order. Fourth, if Romans 5-8 as a whole argues that the true Exodus has come about in the Messiah and by the Spirit, this explains all the more poignantly why Paul must turn at once to the problem of Israel in Romans 9-11. ~ The New Inheritance According to Paul

Great post mkgal!
One of my studies involves the burning Mountain in Revelation.
Futurist [and Jews] miss out on so much of the OT Hebrew imagery being displayed in Revelation.

Allusions in Revelation from Old Testament

Faith, Mountain, and Sea Matt 21:21/Mark 11:3

Matthew 21:21
Yet Jesus answering said to them, "amen I am saying to ye, if ever ye may be having Faith, and no ye may be doubting<1252>, not only the of the fig-tree<4808> ye shall be doing,
but even-ever to this Mountain ye may saying, 'Be being lifted up!<142> and be being cast!<906> into the Sea', it shall be becoming"; [Revelation 8:8/Hebrews 12:18]

Hebrews 12:
18 For you have not come to a Mountain that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and to blackness, darkness, storm,
19 the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which those who heard it begged that not one more word should be spoken to them,
22 But ye have come<προσεληλύθατε 4334> to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels,

Some commentaries on "trumpets"

Revelation 8 Commentary- Plagued by Trumpets
The Roman Assault on Israel Began around the Feast of Trumpets Hence the Seven Trumpets of Revelation—Thus Began the Jewish War.

In A.D. 66 while Judea was aflame in bloodshed, riot and revolt, Rome responded by sending the 12th legion in addition to thousands of auxiliaries from neighboring kingdoms. These troops, as if orchestrated by God, arrived in Jerusalem in the Jewish month of Tishri, a month that begins with the Feast of Trumpets. Called the Day of Judgment, it is on this day that trumpets sound the somber days of atonement and final judgment (Leviticus 23:24, Numbers 29:1). Thus began the Jewish War.3
The A.D. 70 Doctrine View, Interpretation, Exposition and Commentary of Revelation 8: In Every Event that Fulfills the Seven Trumpets of Revelation an Audible Trumpet Sound Was Heard.

The Sound Of The Trumpet

The Apostle Paul used the Roman military trumpet as a metaphor for spiritual battle. First-century historian Josephus wrote that the Roman army did nothing, except by trumpet signals. He listed three specific trumpet sounds, all of which can be devotionally applied.

The first trumpet was a signal to prepare to depart. "Now when they are to go out of their camp, the trumpet gives a sound."(1) The Bible believer should be ready to depart swiftly for any field of conflict as ordered, always ready to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12; 2 Tim. 4:7).

The second trumpet was a signal to form up: "Then do the trumpets sound again, to order them to get ready for the march."(1) At this stage, a believer should have on the whole armor of God. The Lord wants skilled warriors, lined up with others, who will do battle against the wiles of the Devil (Eph. 6:11).

The third trumpet sound was the order to march: "Then do the trumpets give a sound a third time, that they are to go out."(1) Some have suggested that this is the equivalent of "the last trumpet" that Paul referred to in 1 Corinthians 15:52 concerning the Rapture of the church: Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed--in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (1 Cor. 15:51-52).

This trumpet may also point to the personal resolve of a believer to march out to serve Christ, to stand against all challenges to God's kingdom, and to be willing to endure hardships like a good soldier (2 Tim. 2:3).

Benson Commentary
Revelation 8:8-9. And the second angel sounded, and, as it were, a great mountain burning with fire — That is, a great warlike nation, or hero; for in the style of poetry, which is near akin to the style of prophecy, heroes are compared to mountains; was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; and the third part of the creatures which were in the sea died — The sea, in the Hebrew language, is any collection of waters, as Daubuz observes: now, as waters are expressly made a symbol of people in this prophecy, Revelation 17:15, the waters which thou sawest are people, and nations, and tongues; the sea here may well represent the collection of many people and nations into one body politic, or empire; and when a sea is considered as an empire or a collection of people into one body, the living creatures in that sea will be the people or nations whose union constitutes this empire.

Thank you, LLoJ, for all that information (I'll put on my study cap).
Your welcome mk.....
Here is a thread I am going to be devoting a lot of time with.........Josephus, Olivet Discourse and Revelation.
Futurists don't appear to like him very much......;)
Preterists and Amills do/should........

JOSEPHUS, OLIVET DISCOURSE AND BOOK OF REVELATION

Josephus really intrigues me.

There is a question now whether or not he had access to a copy of Revelation based on some of his writings concerning 70ad Jerusalem?
I think this would make for a fascinating discussion, whether one is preterist, futurist, amill, etc.

First off, like the Apostle Paul, he is said to have been both a Jew and Pharisee, according to this source.
If so, wouldn't he have had some contact with some of the Apostles or Disciples of Christ at one time?
Discuss..........

HISTORICAL
SIGNIFICANCE

"During the Middle Ages, Josephus was the most widely read ancient author in Europe.. Josephus' literary influence had no equals, with the sole exception of the Bible."

Flavius Josephus | Jewish priest, scholar, and historian

Flavius Josephus, original name Joseph Ben Matthias, (born ad 37/38, Jerusalem—died ad 100, Rome), Jewish priest, scholar, and historian who wrote valuable works on the Jewish revolt of 66–70 and on earlier Jewish history. His major books are History of the Jewish War (75–79), The Antiquities of the Jews (93), and Against Apion.

I view the last four posts as a deliberate attempt to derail and bury the Bible proofs that I have presented of how we Christians will migrate to and live in all of the holy Land, soon after the lord's Day of fiery wrath has cleared the entire ME region.

That this truth is rejected and opposed by people, shows their failure to understand God's plan to have a people who would live in His Land being His witnesses, Isaiah 43:8-10, John 15:27 and His Light to the nations, Isaiah 48:3-8, Matthew 5:14-16

To assure I'm not accused of "burying the Bible proofs":

Galatians 3:16: “Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, ‘And to seeds,’ as referring to many, but rather to one, ‘And to your seed,’ that is, Christ.”

Romans 4:13: “For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world (cosmos) was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Ephesians 1:18: “I pray…that you will know…what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”

Daniel 2:44: “But in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.”

Daniel 7:13-14 ~ I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven, One like a Son of Man was coming, and He came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; and His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed.”

Matthew 28:18 All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth

Scripture doesn't contradict Scripture - read in fullness (and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit) it reveals truth.

Pastor David Wilkerson predicted a time when Christians and Jews would be persecuted........

Pastor David Herzog was shown USA Jews going north to Canada first and later on to Israel. Due to Canada being so much less populated........ Jews would tend to be safer there.

That prediction is around the seventeen minute mark in this video....

Jeremiah 16:14-15 The days are coming, declares the Lord; when it will no longer be said: As surely as the Lord lives, Who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt, but it will be said: As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites [now; every faithful Christian] up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them. For I will restore them to the land I gave their ancestors.

This unfulfilled prophecy, is referred to as the ‘Second Exodus‘ and does not only refer to the return of Jews to the Land of Israel after World War 2, but to the Return also of millions of re-identified Ten Tribers who have lost their identity among the nations where they were exiled for 2730 years. The immensity of such a vast re-identification and Return will totally overshadow the original miracle filled Exodus from Egypt, according to Jeremiah.

The principle is that the Lord uses periods of travail upon His People to purify and strengthen them spiritually. Their struggles with hardship, adversity and misfortune serve to mould them into the righteous likeness which they must have to be part of His Kingdom and to be in His service.

This Divine method is not just used in the final refining process of His elect, but, throughout all humanity, even as initial Calls for their heart and minds. The Lord constantly calls on those who know Him not, who rebel against Him, but, in response, like Pharaoh, they challenge Him, for they do not wish to acknowledge Him. First God appeals to their emotions, but, like against Pharaoh, after the first Plagues, God changes His approach and even hardens his heart, while appealing to his intellect.

We, the people of Judah and Christian Israel today, when applying the allegory of ‘Pharaoh’ to ourselves, are also hard of heart against His Calls for higher devotion and commitment. This has become especially evident as we now approach the Final Redemption.

Then, like with Pharaoh, God “puts on the screws” when He calls for final refining. This time He is using a different method. He is appealing to our intellectual resources rather than our emotional. The troubles may increase, physical persecution may become a reality (like through wars or anti-Semitic onslaughts even on our lives). It is all about a higher Calling for our final refining.

As we approach the reality of the last few years before Jesus Returns, there are things that have to change and need to be achieved:

· The restoration and recognition of the Lost House of Israel, consisting of the ten Northern Tribes in exile among the nations, lost to history, but not to God. Amos 9:9

· Reconciliation has to be achieved between these re-identifying and returning Lost House of Israel and the House of Judah before the Peace can be established which will enable the Return of the Shekinah (visible Divine Presence) of God to the holy Land. Ezekiel 37, 43:1-4

· Judah: the Jews, must recognize Joseph, the Christian peoples, as the now Chosen people of God. John 15:14-16, 1 Peter 2:9. Ephesians 1:11-14 The people who have received the Kingdom; Matthew 21:43

· Joseph/Ephraim, the Ten Tribes, the peoples who have generally believed the Gospel and accepted the Salvation offered by Jesus, has to turn away from their inherited pride and rebellion against Judah (as their fathers did for which they were exiled ). As the returnee Prodigal son, they have to respect and acknowledge their ‘Brother’ Judah who has been keeping ‘The House of their Father’ during their exile ‘to the pig sties’ of paganism. They should shake off their arrogance of pride in rediscovery of Torah principles and rather than try to ‘save’ Judah, humble themselves and acknowledge the Divine Mandate of Judah as the Lawgiver of God,’ Psalms 60:7, 108:8

Like God did with Pharaoh, He will “put on the screws” in this final refining. He will be appealing to our intellectual rather than our emotional spirituality. The world is facing catastrophic culmination for its evil empire Babylon which it has been building throughout nearly 6000 years. The Sabbath Millennia is at the door.

Jeremiah 46:27-28
“Do not be afraid, Jacob, [all 12 Tribes of Israel] My servants;
do not be dismayed, Israel. I will surely save you out of a distant place; your descendants from the land of their exile.
Jacob will again have peace and security and no one will make him afraid.
Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant, for I am with you,” declares the Lord.
“Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you,
I will not completely destroy you.
I will discipline you but only in due measure;
I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”

That may be your conclusion - but that is an opinion. Self identifying beliefs as "truth" is not what makes it such.
I realize that the idea of we Christians going to live in the holy Land, is a new idea to most people. But it is there in plain scripture:

Nearly 4000 years ago, God met with Abraham and made an irrevocable Covenant with him: that his descendants would inherit all that area from the Nile to the Euphrates. Genesis 15:6-20 This has not yet happened, the holy Land has never been exclusively occupied by people who are faithful to the Lord.

Later, after the incident at Mt Moriah, Genesis 22:15-18, God promised to make his descendants as numerous as the sands of the sea and they would possess the cities of their enemies.

Immediately, we see the problem with those who say that the Jewish people are all of Israel, because the Jews, who are only 2 of the 12 tribes of the sons of Jacob, have never been really numerous, or have been conquerors. We see this difference again in the blessings given to the tribes by Jacob: Genesis 48 & 49 and Moses: Deuteronomy 33. Note particularly in Genesis 48:3-4….I shall make you fruitful and increase your descendants until they become a host of nations.

This truth completely removes any idea of the Jewish State of Israel being the sole inheritors of the holy Land. In fact they only occupy a small portion of it and Bible prophecy is clear: because of their apostasy and sins, they will be thrown out. Jeremiah 10:18, Jeremiah 12:14, Isaiah 22:14, Ezekiel 21:1-7 Amos 2:4-5, +

There can be no argument as to who it will be that does inherit all of the holy Land: it is those whom Jesus came to save: the lost sheep of the House of Israel. Matthew 15:24 They are the people descended from the 10 tribes that were taken into exile by the Assyrians and have lost the knowledge of their ancestry. Paul talks about this secret of God in Ephesians 3:1-6, where he refers to them as Gentiles. i.e. non Jews.

The Apostles and Josephus knew where they were. Of course the Jews know about their kin, as we see in John 7:35, and their Rabbis still speculate as to when the tribes will rejoin.
The remnant of Judah, the Messianic Jews, will rejoin with their Christian brothers at the great spiritual regeneration described in Ezekiel 37, Jeremiah 50:4-5, Romans 9:24-26

Galatians 3:14 God’s purpose in all of this, is so that the Blessings of Abraham should be extended to the Gentiles, so that we can all receive the Spirit through faith.

Ezekiel 11:15-20 The whole people of Israel [the 10 tribes] to whom Judah [the Jews] have said: The Land is now ours to possess. The Lord says: When I sent Israel far away around the world, for a while I was their protector and blessed them wherever they lived. I shall gather My people from their dispersion and give the Land of Israel to them. I will remove their hearts of stone and put a new spirit in them. They will be My people and I will be their God.

This prophecy says how the Jews believe the holy Land is their possession. But the Lord will give it to His righteous Christian people, the peoples who have been blessed with prosperity and strength. They will be joined by born again Christians from every race, nation and language. Isaiah 56:1-8, Revelation 5:9-10

This will happen soon after the forthcoming Lord’s Day of vengeance and wrath:

Ezekiel 20:34 By My outpoured wrath, I shall bring you out from the nations and gather you from wherever you are dispersed.

Isaiah 41:8-10 Have no fear, My people - the descendants of My friend, Abraham. Galatians 3:29 I have not rejected you, now I summon you from the four corners of the earth; I am with you and will give you strength.

But not all of those whom God knows are actual Israelites, Amos 9:9, will be allowed to enter the holy Land:

Ezekiel 20:35-38 I shall bring you out of the nations and I shall state My case against you. I shall make you pass under the Rod of Judgement. Just as I did in the wilderness of Egypt, so I shall indict you. I will count you as you enter, but those who revolt and rebel, I shall take them from the lands where they now live, but they will not set foot in the holy Land.
Thus you will know I am the Lord.

BEFORE the Return of Jesus for His Millennium reign.

These are plainly stated prophesies, not yet fulfilled, but surely will be.

You seem to have missed what God had done during Jesus' first advent.

Deuteronomy 28:58, 63 ~ “If you are not careful to observe all the words of this law which are written in this book…It shall come about that as the Lord delighted over you to prosper you, and multiply you, so the Lord will delight over you to make you perish and destroy you; and you will be torn from the land where you are entering to possess it.

Proverbs 2:21-22 says it like this:

For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it; But the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be uprooted from it.”

....but the story doesn't end there. The story continues:

Rather than obeying everything that God commanded when they entered the promised land, every man did what was right in his own eyes. In faithfulness, God brought tyrannical nations to rule over the Israelites. And when they would repent, God would raise up a judge to deliver them. Then they asked for a king to rule over them like the other nations.

First, God gives them Saul — a king just like the nations. He acts wickedly, so God anoints a different king — a man after His own heart to rule the people, King David.

Eventually, the kingdom of Israel splits in two, and both kingdoms get kicked out of the land and are taken into captivity.
God restores the southern kingdom — Judah, from her captivity, preserving the line of the Deliverer. The Promised One would be a descendant of King David.

Habakkuk warned Judah to turn from her sin. At that time, Habakkuk prophesied about the future.

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:14

Despite Israel’s faithlessness, God’s name would be exalted throughout the whole earth.

Habakuk was looking forward to the Promised One, the Delivererwhen all the nations of the earth would be blessed in Abraham’s seed.

How could God be faithful to two seemingly contradictory promises?

    • To give them the land as an everlasting possession
    • To kick them out of the land if they were unfaithful
The answer to this question is located in the New Testament. So hold on to it — and we shall get there. But now, we’re surveying the history of the Old Testament.

Prophecies About the Deliverer
There were hundreds of prophecies concerning the Deliverer in the Old Testament. Each revealed a little more about His lineage, what His names would be, where He would be born, how He would die, and more.

One such prophecy is found in Isaiah 9:6-7:

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace on the throne of David and over his kingdom to establish it and uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

There are some important elements in these verses that are often overlooked. I know I overlooked them for years.

    • The government will rest on the Child’s shoulders
    • There will be no end to the increase of His governance of or peace
    • His rule would be over David’s kingdom
    • The rule would be established with justice and righteousness
    • The ever increasing rule would begin at the birth of this Child
    • God’s zeal would accomplish it (unconditional)
God was going to cause something wonderful to happen in the world when the Deliverer was born: He was going to begin to fulfill the promise to Abraham that all the nations of the earth would be blessed through this Child — whom we know as Christ. And that’s exactly what happened when Christ came. But there was more.

The Promise Fulfilled and Expanded

God kept His promise to Abraham — His promise to bless all the nations of the earth through his seed by bringing salvation to the Gentiles.

      • It was Christ and His co-heirs who would be faithful to inherit the land promised to Abraham’s descendants.
      • The kingdom would only increase in size from the time of Christ’s birth and onward — according to the Scriptures.
Plus, the land promised to Abraham was not limited to the land of Israel: the inheritance was extended to the entire world, the Cosmos — which would naturally include Canaan. And it would come in the exact same way: through faithfulness to God (or God’s faithfulness).

New Testament Teaching of the Land Promised to Abraham
When Jesus, the Deliverer, came into the world, He taught that the gentle (or meek) would inherit the earth — or land (Matthew 5:5). We know that the ruling class in Israel was not gentle. They were evil at the core — seeking to kill, steal, and destroy. They were in league with the enemy. Surely Jesus wasn’t going to let them have the land promised to Abraham — they were unfaithful.

In the book of Romans, Paul clears up any misconception we might have about who will inherit the land of Canaan — and how far the promise extends, insisting that God has in view the whole world — or Cosmos.

Romans 4:13: “For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world (cosmos) was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.”

The promise was never intended for the physical descendants of Abraham — but the spiritual descendants. Those who are putting their faith in the Deliverer.
**************************************

TLDR point:
Who Is Abraham’s Seed?
In Galatians, Paul unequivocally identifies who the seed of Abraham is.

Galatians 3:16: “
Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, ‘And to seeds,’ as referring to many, but rather to one, ‘And to your seed,’ that is, Christ.”

The promises that God made to Abraham had their entire fulfillment in Christ. He is the one who will inherit the land — and He is the only one who will ever deserve it. But, we participate with Him in His inheritance as co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17) when we are faithful to the Great Commission.

Who Inherits the Promises?
The Bible tells us that Christians, themselves, are part of Christ’s inheritance.

Ephesians 1:18: “I pray…that you will know…what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”

Ephesians is not sharing anything new, no mystery. For the Old Testament has been telling us this very thing all along.

But it is there in plain scripture:
For one thing: Scripture isn't "plain" (or else we wouldn't have all these different interpretations)......and secondly, it's still just an opinion. People have believed the Bible states all sorts of things "plainly" or "clearly".....and, thankfully, a few of those issues have been put to rest (like the disagreement of slavery....but that took until about the early 1980's to clear that up - and, sadly, there are some that still see things through those lenses).

mikgal, Your point in #30 seems to be that eventually we Christians will inherit the world.
This I agree with, but there is a progression, just as the Bible; esp Revelation tells us.

There is no doubt that the holy Land area is special to God. I have been there and I felt the ambience of that place.
God gave it to Abraham and his descendants. Neither Abraham or his descendants have ever fully occupied all of that area from the Nile to the Euphrates. Will God's gift never be taken up by those who believe in Him and keep His commandments?
NO. and there is ample prophecy that proves there is a time coming, Amos 9:13-15, when it will be we Christians who will live there in peace and prosperity. Psalms 69:35-36
Believe it or not!

God gave it to Abraham and his descendants.
Did you not notice? The passage above makes it clear that the promises were made to one singular seed - and that was Christ. That has been fulfilled.

Therefore we Christian followers of Jesus, will receive the Land thru Him.

At the great gathering into the promised Land, as described to us by the prophets, the Lord’s righteous people: every faithful Christian, will march proudly to music as they enter their heritage. Ephesians 1:10-14
Their Redeemer and Deliverer is waiting to show them His favor, He will guide and protect them, in the same manner as He did with their ancestors during the Exodus from Egypt. 1 Corinthians 10:1-5 The Land will blossom and flourish, Isaiah 35:1-10 and they will live there in peace and security, excepting for a 3½ year period of control by the Anti Christ. Then will come the return of Jesus for His Millennial reign.

Isaiah 30:18 Yet the Lord is waiting to show you His favor, He yearns to have pity on you. Happy are those who wait on Him!

Ezekiel 20:34-38 By My strong arm and outpoured wrath, I shall bring you out from among the peoples and gather you from the lands where you have been dispersed. I shall bring you into a desert place and bring you into judgement, as I did with your ancestors out of Egypt. I shall pass you under the rod of judgement and count you as you enter Israel. Those who revolt and rebel against Me will not enter the Land.

outpoured wrath’ refers to the next prophesied event – the terrible Day of the Lord’s wrath and vengeance, that destroys His enemies and cleanses the Land by fire. The Christian Israelites will then march into and take over all that area promised, so long ago to Abraham.

Ezekiel 36:8 You: Land of Israel – grow your trees and yield your fruit, for the homecoming of My people, Israel, is near.

Micah 4:6 On that Day, I shall gather those who are lost, I shall assemble the dispersed.

Micah 2:12 I will assemble you, the whole House of Jacob. [now every faithful Christian] I will gather you together with those remaining in Israel and herd them like sheep in a fold.

Jeremiah 3:22 Come back, you apostate people and I shall heal you. Here we are, our God, we are coming back to You.

Jeremiah 31:8-9 See how I bring My people from the ends of the earth, a vast company – they come home, weeping and repentant. I shall comfort them and lead them on smooth paths.

Isaiah 43:19 I am about to do something new, can you see it? I will make a path for My people.

Isaiah 58:11 The Lord will guide you, He will satisfy your needs in the desert and give strength.

Isaiah 62:10 Pass through the gates, clear a road for My people and mark their way.

Isaiah 42:16 Without fail, I shall lead the blind and guide My people along paths unknown to them.

Psalms 68:7-9 The Lord, leading His people, marching through the desert- the earth shakes and rain pours down. Isaiah 44:3

Isaiah 30:29 For you there will be joyful singing, as you march into Israel, the Holy Land of God.

Isaiah 40:26-31 Lift your eyes to the heavens, consider your Creator, He leads His people out – each summoned by name, none are missing. He gives strength to the exhausted and those who look to Him will not faint, they march as on eagles wings.

Obadiah 19:21 My people will possess the Negev, Samaria, Northern and southern Jordan and all the coastlands of the Mediterranean.

Isaiah 49:8-11 The Lord says: In the time of My favour, on the Day of Deliverance, I will come to your aid, you are My people destined to be a light to the nations and to restore the Land. Go free now and in the Land you will find food and water in plenty. It will not be too hot when the One who loves them will guide them along highways. My people, coming from all parts of the world, will shout for joy as they enter their Land. For God has comforted His people in their distress.

You still seem to be overlooking what God has already done - that, in Jesus, most (if not all) of what you're placing in the future has already been fulfilled.

You also seem to be missing that God's purpose from the very beginning wasn't just for certain people (nor was His plan up to people to accomplish - but God) - it was for the redemption of the whole world (through Christ).

You seem to be presenting an elitist scenario where only a select few are "chosen" and that goes directly against the nature I see of God (you and many others may have a completely different perception of God's nature despite what I see all throughout Scripture).

Quoting from linked article: In giving His Law ONLY to Israel, God had not forgotten His promise to Abraham that ALL the earth would be blessed through him.

God was careful to remind Moses that His promises were intended for ALL the nations of the earth.

So the Lord said…’but indeed as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord.'” Numbers 14:20-21

You might like to think that, but the historical record refutes you. I see preterism as a cop out, a way to avoid facing the unavoidable future as described in the Prophetic Word.

But the sad thing about not knowing is: God's Plan for us Christians is for our good and He intends to Bless His people in an amazing way.
Soon the Lord will take action and the world will never be the same again.

If you ignore history, sure (or disqualify those that oppose your theories).

I see futurism as a denial of God's work, sovereignty, and faithfulness (if we're giving opinions on the beliefs of others).

I'm not sure what's "sad" about that - unless you're implying that those that don't agree with you are the in camp of NOT being actual Christians (and you're expressing your "pity" on us).

In my belief - He's already turned the world upside down (as this book states):

https://www.amazon.com/Day-Revolution-Began-Reconsidering-Crucifixion/dp/0062334387 Quoting from link:
Wright argues that Jesus’ death on the cross was not only to absolve us of our sins; it was actually the beginning of a revolution commissioning the Christian faithful to a new vocation—a royal priesthood responsible for restoring and reconciling all of God’s creation.

Wright argues that Jesus’ crucifixion must be understood within the much larger story of God’s purposes to bring heaven and earth together. The Day the Revolution Began offers a grand picture of Jesus’ sacrifice and its full significance for the Christian faith, inspiring believers with a renewed sense of mission, purpose, and hope, and reminding them of the crucial role the Christian faith must play in protecting and shaping the future of the world.

I know history quite well. I have books by; Herodotus, Tacitus, Josephus, Gibbon, Bright, etc, in my library.
None of them tell of any events like what is prophesied in the Bible, for the time of the end of this Church age.
Your denial and rejection of plainly stated forthcoming events, is just a 'head in the sand' attitude, which leaves you 'in the dark'.

NT Wright's book is correct. Jesus commenced a revolution, it is still ongoing and it will culminate when He Returns.
Meantime; we have work to do! And we should know about and be prepared for what the Prophets have so carefully told us will happen before that glorious Day.

Psalms 68:1-35 Let the Lord arise, let His enemies be scattered. Let those who hate Him be gone! Let the Lord’s enemies perish in His fiery judgement1, like wax before a fire and as smoke is dispersed.
Lord: summon Your strength, use it now as You did for Your people long ago. Rebuke those wild beasts, those proud and arrogant sinners; all those who love violence and war2. All power and strength belongs to the Lord, enthroned on high. Cleanse now Your holy Land and give strength to Your people, we pray.

The Lord says: I shall bring My enemies together into the place of slaughter, from wherever they are. I will smite them there, their blood will flow out so that you can bathe your feet in it and your dogs will lick it up.

When the Lord speaks out in mighty thunder1, kings and their armies will flee in terror. When the Almighty scatters those evil peoples and clears the holy Land, snow will fall on Mt Zalman3.

We sing the praises of our Saviour and Redeemer. He who rides on the clouds, He is our Father and the defender of His righteous people, but those who refuse to acknowledge Him will remain in the desert4.

When the Lord saves His people, there will be thousands of vehicles for them5, as He leads them to safety through the barren desert. The earth will tremble and rain will pour down to replenish the holy Land6. There Your people will settle, for in Your goodness Lord, You provide for the poor and needy.

The procession of all Israel comes into view; into the Holy city. First the singers, then the musicians. The little tribe of Benjamin will lead, with Judah, Zebulon and Naphtali following, marching on their way the Zion’s holy mountain: on to the Temple in Jerusalem. Kings will bring gifts and envoys will come from far off nations to honour and praise Israel’s God. His Majesty and blessing is over the holy Land , the Lord enthroned in heaven will give strength to His people7.

Praise be to God! Ref: REB, CJB. Psalm 68 in a chronological order.

1/The Lord’s judgement by fire; an earth directed CME explosion of the sun: Isaiah 30:25-28, Malachi 4:1, Isaiah 66:15-16, Revelation 6:12-17, 2 Peter 3:10

2/ The Islamic peoples who love war and death: Ezekiel 35:5-6, Proverbs 1:16

3/ Mt Zalman – near Shechem. [Nablus] This detail informs us that the Day of the Lord’s wrath will happen during a Northern winter. Judges 9:48, Matthew 24:20

4/ Then all of the Lord’s people are gathered, then ‘passed under the rod of judgement’. Ezekiel 20:35-38…’those who revolt and rebel will not enter the Land’. Deuteronomy 32:36

5/ The Lord will provide transport! Isaiah 66:20, Psalms 107:1-32, Isaiah 60:1-9

6/ All of the holy Land will be regenerated and become fertile: Ezekiel 36:8-11, Isaiah 35:1-2, Isaiah 66:12, Joel 2:21-26, Amos 9:13-15

7/ Strength and comfort to His people: Isaiah 40:29-31, Jer. 31:21-26, Zech. 10:12 Note that the Lord remains ‘enthroned in heaven’. The glorious Return comes later. The Lord's true Christian people, from every tribe, [of Israel] every nation, [of the world] every language, [ethnic group] will gather in Jerusalem. Revelation 7:9.
THEY will build the Temple, Zechariah 6:15. THEY will elect leaders, Jeremiah 30:21, Hosea 1:11. THEY will greet Jesus after all that is prophesied takes place, with the shout: Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord!

What I am trying to do with this thread is to show how it will be the Lord's faithful people who will occupy all of the holy Land during the final 10 years or so of this age.
Comments about historical events; unless they are shown to have fulfilled prophecy, are not only useless, but are just a red herring, only causing further confusion.

The truth of every faithful Christian going to live in the holy Land, is throughout the Bible. Most fail to see it because they don't make the connection of how we Christians are now the Israel of God. Galatians 6:14-16 They often actively oppose that idea, on the grounds that they will be in heaven, while Jewish Israel remains under tribulation. Those ideas are not stated anywhere in the Bible.

Christians are the only people of God, there is no special people, the Bible is clear that the Jews have lost their status as 'chosen'. Matthew 21:43, Revelation 2:9

Your interpretation is way off the mark my friend.
