What you are describing has already taken place in 70 AD. (see Partial Preterisim). Also, there are many anti-Christs. In that day it was Nero. His gematria number is 666, code for Jewish believers in that day. There is an alternate view other than Dispensational Futurism. It is call A-millennial Preterisim which does believe Christ will come back a second time but it is on the last day when ALL will be resurrected.

I hope that there is less heat than light in this discussion. Is there anything more pointless? We don't know. Doctors of Divinity and other hugely qualified theologians disagree on interpretations. We will find out who is right, hopefully very soon.

Hi Jane, when a woman gets married she is no longer "Miss" but "Mrs" because she is in a completely different role in life being married.

Similarly, the little horn person, in that role is not the Antichrist. The little horn when he becomes the King of Israel, but not approved by God to be their king like Jesus, then he is the Antichrist. But not at other times.

After being the Antichrist for awhile, he betrays the Jews, Israel, revealing himself as the man of sin. Which ends his time as the Antichrist. As the Jews will reject him from continuing as their King and will turn to Jesus.

As the revealed man of sin, he is killed and brought back to life - in his final role as "the beast".

Hopefully soon? Who wants the antiChrist soon?

I know I'm in the minority, but I sometimes ask God if He can delay Jesus' return just a little for specific unsaved people I know who just aren't there yet. I'm not sure that prayer would ever be answered, but... I get the longing for Jesus' return, but I can wait a little if it means others have a chance to be saved as well.

I mean, in Romans 9 Paul even went as far as to say he'd give up his salvation if he could see the Jews saved. I mean, that's pretty extreme...

Fair enough. "Soon" is pretty flexible. God alone knows when that day will be. I see the world getting darker and darker and Christians suffering more and more persecution. That troubles me.

You're right.
When it happens, I think it will seem to have come soon enough and for most the time will have been too short.

The Anti-Christ is ALWAYS Anti-Christ. Its a spirit that has always existed. There couldn't be Holy without evil. Satan acted upon that spirit then tempted man to do the same. So this coming MAN the Anti- Christ will always be anti-God/Christ. He is only the Beast {which means DOMINATOR of Israel/Mediterranean Sea Region/Nations) for 42 months.

The reason we get Daniel 11 is because Antiochus is his EXACT TYPE. He will be a Gracian, he will appoint a High Priest like unto Jason whom Antiochus appointed who tried to Hellenize the Jews but met resistance from the Maccabeans via their Revolt. So Jason, real name Yeshua, is THE TYPE False Prophet. And just as Antiochus and Jason ruled at the same time, so will this Government Beast {Anti-Christ} and Religious Beast {False Prophet}. Antiochus had the Pious High Priest Onias III killed, he was Jason's brother.

Be on the lookout for a modern day "Worldly type" of High Priest.

Daniel in his four vision talk more about the Antichrist than the Christ.

Matthew 24 is the primary chapter that Jesus taught about end time.

Unless the second Jewish temple is still standing, Christ was a partial-preterist in the Olivet Discourse.

Olivet Timing Revealed by Luke’s Gospel:

Compare Luke's Gospel to that of Matthew if you want to understand the timing.

Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple (These subtitles are found in e-Sword.)

Luk 21:5 Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,
Luk 21:6 "These things which you see—the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down."

(Mat 24:2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." )

Luk 21:7 So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?"

(Mat 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?")

( Mar 13:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,

Mar 13:4 "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?")

Luk 21:8 And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them.

(Mat 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. )

Luk 21:9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately."

(Mat 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.)

Jesus Foretells Wars and Persecution

Luk 21:10 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

(Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. )

Luk 21:11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

(Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. )

Luk 21:12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.

(Mat 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.) (Read Acts 22:19-20, where Paul reveals that he fulfilled this text.)

Luk 21:13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.
Luk 21:14  Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;
Luk 21:15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.
Luk 21:16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.
Luk 21:17 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake.

(Mat 24:10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. )

Luk 21:18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost.
Luk 21:19 By your patience possess your souls.

(Mat 24:13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.)

Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem

Luk 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.

(Mat 24:15 "Therefore when you see the 'ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand),

Luk 21:21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.

(Mat 24:16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.)

Luk 21:22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Luk 21:23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.

(Mat 24:19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! )

Luk 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
(Almost all Bible scholars agree that the first part of the verse above is about 70 AD. At the end of the verse we find a period of time known as “the times of the Gentiles”. In the verses that follow we find the future Second Coming of Christ.)

The Coming of the Son of Man

Luk 21:25  "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

(Mat 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.)

Luk 21:26 men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Luk 21:27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

(Mat 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.)

Luk 21:28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

(Mat 24:33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!)

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

From "Antiquities of the Jews" by Josephus, Book 12, chapter 7

"6. When therefore the generals of Antiochus's armies had been beaten so often, Judas assembled the people together, and told them, that after these many victories which God had given them, they ought to go up to Jerusalem, and purify the temple, and offer the appointed sacrifices. But as soon as he, with the whole multitude, was come to Jerusalem, and found the temple deserted, and its gates burnt down, and plants growing in the temple of their own accord, on account of its desertion, he and those that were with him began to lament, and were quite confounded at the sight of the temple; so he chose out some of his soldiers, and gave them order to fight against those guards that were in the citadel, until he should have purified the temple. When therefore he had carefully purged it, and had brought in new vessels, the candlestick, the table [of shew-bread], and the altar [of incense], which were made of gold, he hung up the veils at the gates, and added doors to them. He also took down the altar [of burnt-offering], and built a new one of stones that he gathered together, and not of such as were hewn with iron tools. So on the five and twentieth day of the month Casleu, which the Macedonians call Apeliens, they lighted the lamps that were on the candlestick, and offered incense upon the altar [of incense], and laid the loaves upon the table [of shew-bread], and offered burnt-offerings upon the new altar [of burnt-offering]. Now it so fell out, that these things were done on the very same day on which their Divine worship had fallen off, and was reduced to a profane and common use, after three years' time; for so it was, that the temple was made desolate by Antiochus, and so continued for three years. This desolation happened to the temple in the hundred forty and fifth year, on the twenty-fifth day of the month Apeliens, and on the hundred fifty and third olympiad: but it was dedicated anew, on the same day, the twenty-fifth of the month Apeliens, on the hundred and forty-eighth year, and on the hundred and fifty-fourth olympiad. And this desolation came to pass according to the prophecy of Daniel, which was given four hundred and eight years before; for he declared that the Macedonians would dissolve that worship [for some time].

7. Now Judas celebrated the festival of the restoration of the sacrifices of the temple for eight days, and omitted no sort of pleasures thereon; but he feasted them upon very rich and splendid sacrifices; and he honored God, and delighted them by hymns and psalms. Nay, they were so very glad at the revival of their customs, when, after a long time of intermission, they unexpectedly had regained the freedom of their worship, that they made it a law for their posterity, that they should keep a festival, on account of the restoration of their temple worship, for eight days. And from that time to this we celebrate this festival, and call it Lights. I suppose the reason was, because this liberty beyond our hopes appeared to us; and that thence was the name given to that festival. Judas also rebuilt the walls round about the city, and reared towers of great height against the incursions of enemies, and set guards therein. He also fortified the city Bethsura, that it might serve as a citadel against any distresses that might come from our enemies. "

Josephus confirms above the understanding of the Jews of his time, who knew that Daniel had predicted the events of 167 BC, by Antiochus Epiphanes.
Josephus confirms it as a historical fact.

John 10:22 is a reference to the celebration of Hanukkah each year by the Jews of Jesus time.

The Book of Matthew was addressed mainly to a Jewish audience. Jesus was telling the Jews of His time that something similar to 167 BC would happen during 70 AD. Not only did Antiochus desecrate the temple, but he also attacked the city killing thousands of Jews and stopped the temple sacrifices. The temple sacrifices would also stop in 70 AD, due to the destruction of the temple. Based on John 10:22, the Jews were well aware of this historical fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy. Luke’s Gospel was written to more of a Gentile audience, so he spelled it out for them.

Matthew 24:15-16 and Luke 21:20-21 are clearly parallel accounts, because we have the same reference to flee in the second verse in each Gospel.

Judas who? Not the new testament Judas, are you suggesting (via Jospehus), surely not ?

Luke 21:21 - followed by the Jews lead captive into all nations (Luke 21:24) - 2000 years later the Jews back in control of Jerusalem (1967) - and the gospel having been preached to the nations(Matthew 24:14) - Matthew 24:15 (end times), which our generation (Jews back in control of Jerusalem, the fig tree) shall not pass away without seeing the abomination of desolation which triggers the great tribulation to be ended by Jesus's return.

When did the Jews return to the land of Israel and regain control of Jerusalem? What event? It is recent history, a little over 40 years ago. I assume that partial-preterists believe in historical fulfilled events.

(Mat 24:33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!)

Your view certainly has many adherents and is a historical view so I can see how you have come to believe it. If you were to try to learn what futurist see as their view and overlay it with current events your view in my opinion was a shadow of things to come sort of like Nebuchadnezar's image he made everyone bow down too. The future view requires Israel to be a nations again and a 3rd Temple to be rebuilt and the sacrifices resumed for the abomination of desolation to occur in. The fact Israel is there and all the preparations for a 3rd temple are made is strong evidence that this cannot be dismissed. If you look at all the other accounts of when the kingdom comes and is established it is when Jerusalem is being overrun and the LORD saves them. Dan 7 shows the son of man coming when the pompous one has been persecuting the saints for a time times and half a time and to his is given the kingdom that covers the earth and has no end. In Zech 14 the kingdom comes when Jerusalem is being overrun and the LORD comes and fights that day and the LORD is king over all the earth. In 70AD Israel was destroyed not saved. 2 Thess describes the antichrist as the man of sin who is revealed when he exalts himself as God in the temple. In Rev 13 he is given control over every tribe tongue kindred and nations for 42 months which would mean from the time the sacrifice is taken away in Daniel't 70th week. There were no two witnesses who came on the scene back then. There was no global mark of the beast back then and the fate of the pompous one in Dan 7 the Beast in Rev 13 and the man of sin in 2 Thess is they are all destroyed by the coming of the LORD. If you maintain that the LORD is ruling now and Satan is bound then the visible condition of the world is not supporting the righteousness described when the kingdom comes or the peace that covers the earth. You have to push all that to the new Jerusalem when Jesus is to rule with a rod of iron. That is not necessary as everyone who makes it there will no longer have a sin nature. The binding of Satan is future the rise of antichrist and the NWO one world government is coming. Hosea 3 says this 4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, without ephod or teraphim. 5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They shall fear the LORD and His goodness in the latter days. The return of the sacrifice is linked with the return of the kingdom. The sacrifice is the stage for the abomination of desolation which 42 months after will bring in the return of the king Jesus. Israel has gone over 1800 years without a sacrifice and it is on the horizon. David in 3 places is said to be raised up. He will at this time be back. The promise of Jesus
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

I am surprised at times to realize that many Dispensational Futurists are promoting a rebuilt temple, with renewed animal sacrifices.

They ignore Matthew 10:5-7, and Romans 1:16, and Galatians 1:14-18, which reveal that the Gospel was taken "first" to the Jews for about 7 years before Paul took the Gospel to the Gentiles. This was the 70th week of Daniel during the first century.

Daniel Chapter 9: Dr. Kelly Varner

I am also saddened that the modern Church has done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with Orthodox Jews.

I have seen lost Orthodox Jews appearing on Christian television shows, and being used as the expert on a Biblical topic.

Why have we failed to share the "suffering servant" of Isaiah chapter 53, and the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, and the timeline of Daniel 9, which reveal the true identity of the Messiah from the Hebrew scriptures. Why have I never seen this simple three-part message on Christian television?

The Two Peoples of God doctrine of modern Dispensational Futurism is a form of Dual Covenant Theology, which is at least partially responsible.

I know what the doctrine teaches, because I was once a deacon in a conservative Bible Church, which taught the doctrine.

When did the Jews return to the land of Israel and regain control of Jerusalem? What event? It is recent history, a little over 40 years ago. I assume that partial-preterists believe in historical fulfilled events.

The answer is found below.

The identity of the man in this video is found in Revelation 3:9, if the man's source of truth would be the Babylonian Talmud, instead of the Hebrew scriptures.

Judas who? Not the new testament Judas, are you suggesting (via Jospehus), surely not ?

He probably meant Joshua of Zechariah chapter 3, not the Exodus Joshua of course, but a High Priest that came later.

Zechariah 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.

6 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,

7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.

9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

10 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

The answer is 1967 the six day war, the Jews recaptured the old city of Jerusalem and the temple mount from Jordan.

I see the world getting darker and darker and Christians suffering more and more persecution. That troubles me.

That is largely your own perception. Statistically people are living longer, safer, healthier, with less global death by violence or disease than ever before while being more educated on average. You just get your opinions biased by watching TV coverage.

Nobody is interested that Mr. John Smith had a good average day again or that people in Mali are having 7% longer lifespans than decade ago.

It is much more flashier to read that tornado tore Bahama apart.

So I guess it would be more accurate to say that your world is getting darker and darker.

I don't watch TV at all. I do keep up with current events. People may be living longer. Where I am, the suicide rate is climbing, we have major drug problems, alcohol abuse, a domestic violence epidemic and people's standard of living is in decline. Unemployment is high, whatever the statistics say. Many of those who are in work are not earning enough to live on, especially the young. I'm not so concerned about living standards. I'm concerned that the head of a large corporation can call the Bible hate speech and get away with it. I'm concerned that China, a totalitarian regime, is arming itself to the hilt and defying international rulings to take over the South China sea. I am concerned that militant Islam is on the rise in Indonesia, funded by Saudi Arabia. I'm concerned that North Korea has nuclear weapons and that China still eyes off Taiwan. Not to mention Hong Kong. That's before we get to the Middle East and Africa. "As in the days of Noah". ISIL killed around 90,000 people, most of them Christians, in 2016. We have some of the survivors in Australia. Mali is not that good an example. There used to be peace between Muslims and Christians but not so much recently, especially in the North. They've had a couple of civil wars in the last decade also.
