I thought I'd start a thread for everyone to share your favorite Christian music and songs! Or otherwise Christian music that you really enjoy listening to. I thought it might be a great place for people to discover new Christian music that they haven't heard before! :)

To start off with, I've been listening to Andrew Peterson lately. I really like this song:

There is a not well known guy named Jeff Bastardi who has some great songs. "God's light" and "I am the Vine" are two of my favorites from him and they can be found on youtube (very few views, which is too bad).

Festive Verses of the Cymbals for the Nativity -- Coptic living room edition! (Hence all the drum and socks and such...actually, nevermind, just the drum...you'd see just as many socks in an actual Coptic Orthodox Church.)

We worship the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, hail to the Church, the house of the angels.

+ Hail to the Virgin, who gave birth to our Savior, hail to Gabriel, who announced to her the good news.

Hail to Michael the archangel, hail to the twenty four presbyters.

+ Hail to the Cherubim, hail to the Seraphim, hail to all the hosts of the heavens. Hail to John, the great forerunner, hail to the twelve apostles.

+ Hail to our father Mark the Evangelist, the destroyer of the idols. Hail to Stephen, the first martyr, hail to George, the morning star.

+ Hail to the whole choir of the martyrs, hail to Abba Antony, and the three Macarii. Hail to the whole choir of the cross-bearers, hail to all the saints who have pleased the Lord.

+ Through their prayers, O Christ our King, have mercy upon us in Your kingdom. The virginal birth and the spiritual contractions are an amazing wonder, according to the prophets.

+ Hail to Bethlehem, the city of the prophets, where Christ was born, the second Adam. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever, in one hypostasis, we worship and glorify Him.

+ O King of peace, grant us Your peace, render unto us Your peace, and forgive us our sins. Disperse the enemies of the Church, and fortify her, that she may not be shaken forever.

+ Emmanuel our God is now in our midst, with the glory of His Father, and the Holy Spirit. May He bless us all, and purify our hearts, and heal the sicknesses of our souls and bodies.

+ We worship You O Christ, with Your good Father and the Holy Spirit, for You were born and saved us. Have mercy upon us.

I have too many "favorites." But here is one I will share.

Lyrics:

Refrain

Heavy is our Savior's cross
Weighed down by human sin
His blood so pure, no earthly dross
Is borne by only Him

Mocked, scourged,
with thorns for a crown
The Lamb is led away
A cross to bear for sinners bound
On this, His final day

Refrain

Rough, hewn, unpolished the wood
A cross for all our sin
Will hold the pain no mortal could
A death reserved for Him
A death reserved for Him

Life torn from flesh and from bone
Yet still a pain far worse
For all of sin He must atone
The weight of heaven's curse

Refrain

Death, loss, the dark shadows day
His work now almost done
Naught else will do, no other way
Salvation must be won

Refrain

His blood so pure, no earthly dross
Is borne by only Him

Matthew 5
14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

--David

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. ~Charles Spurgeon

I'm not a Christian. But the Kyrie eleison from Mozart's "Great" Mass in C minor--composed when he was only 26--is one of the best pieces of religious music (or any music) ever written. It was used in the movie Amadeus. If nothing else, listen to the soprano solo with chorus "Christe eleison" (Christ, have mercy) from about 2:05 to 4:50. If heavenly music was ever written, this is it.

Wow. That is so beautiful!!! The singer's voice during the "Christe eleison" is chilling and moving beyond words. What an amazing piece. Thanks for sharing!!
