A very controversial subject, but an important one nonetheless. I believe abortion is indeed sinful and find my inspiration for such a belief in the following passages:

"When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman's husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe." - Exodus 21:22-25

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations." - Jeremiah 1:5

I find it evident that Scripture does indeed consider an unborn child life. Abortion is just so heartbreaking when I read passages like these.

Child sacrifice is alive and well, the spirit of Baal and Jezebel here in our world today. There is always a spirit behind these things that works to convince people that something detestable is actually ok. And then society is conditioned to look the other way. On one end of a hospital they choose to save a babies life at all cost, on the other end they determine a life has no value and outright murder infants. Go figure.

Abortion is wrong also because we are made to image God. That is not linked to any particular ability (i.e free will, conscious, etc). This is why it was a very serious crime to kill someone for the Israelites.

I believe abortion is mostly wrong but not because of either of the verses you're quoting, especially not Jeremiah 1:5 which essentially says we are people before we're even conceived.

Jeremiah 1:5 is about God and His Omniscience, it's not about us, but people like to make it about us because we are prideful and fall into that trap.

Let's not also forget that in Luke 1, we are told that John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit while in his mother's womb, and that he leapt for joy while in his mother's womb.

I don't know of any Biblical arguments that suggest a position that a non-human being would be filled with the Holy Spirit.

You have no clue what the obstetricians are doing with miscarried, stillborn, and premature babies. They aren't there to kill infants deemed unworthy to live.

Cats, states ( plural) are legalizing willful abortions, full term, living human beings. Women choose that and someone performs it and the child is killed, in some cases out of the mothers body. Now unless the Easter Bunny is being employed, don't you think it's doctors doing these procedures ?

We aren't talking about mishaps here, that's what you are bringing up and of course those need to be dealt with in a civil way. There isn't anything civil about live abortions.

And neither do you.

I know they are not aborting every fetus. People who are 100% opposed to abortion seem to intentionally exaggerate how many murders happen in hosptials. Most fetuses are born alive.

Likewise people who are pro-choice like to talk as if 98% of abortions are from raped mothers as opposed to the fact that 98%of abortions are performed for convenience reasons.

Nonsense. Pro-choicers also talk about medical conditions that cause potentially fatal problems, which are not about convenience at all. I have tried to address this issue multiple times here.

You are correct, those fall into the not 98% of reasons abortions are typically performed on women. Thank you for demonstrating my point.

You are on record saying some medical conditions I would justify abortions for are in the 98% category.

And you are on record for lacking comprehension skills :)

The simple fact is that just over 98% of all abortions are performed for convenience reasons. At the very least Christians ought to be able to say that these are immoral.

Part of the problem is schools don't teach kids what abortion is. They stress contraception and abstinence without using that other A word (ironically, because lowering abortion rates is the reason sex education is mandatory). So all kids know is how to not accidentally become parents way too early.

I think you mean the problem is that parents don’t teach kids that abortion is wrong. The problem is the breakdown in the family and the moral decline of culture.

It’s not school’s fault that women are having abortions.

It’s people like you who send ambiguous and contradicting views about how sometimes aborting a healthy baby is morally wrong but then sometimes aborting a healthy baby is morally acceptable.
