I think we have all missed a key in how to live out the christian life. We certainly are not the only ones. Our condition, found throughout the entire church for almost 1900 years, has infected almost all in church, even the very elect.
Here is our problem. You see, we are new creatures. ARE. Not will be. Not a long four-decade transition from old man into new.... as in 'I am up to 58% new man. I would be up over 60% but had a bad week-end. But hey, I am just a sinner saved by grace. Go grace!'
Let me be clear, you are... I am... we ARE, this very second. NEW.
But here is a truth we are having a hard time accepting, and admitting about ourself. We are not walking as new creatures, and man, we will do anything to not have to walk down that road and face it.
We are not filled with joy, abiding in Him. Soul warfare for loved ones, even our own spouse or children? Almost non-existent. Heavenly mindedness? Running our race as if there is but one prize? Let's keep it real here, lol. Anyway, that is for fanatics, right?
No, guys, His promises of life and peace have been dislodged by earthly-mindedness in thousands of forms. So we have 'compartmentalized' our Christianity, haven't we? It has a "part" of our life. We feel good about where we are in that part. Maybe not a few of those other compartments, LOL, but "God's not finished with me yet." Another six-word cesspool of unbelief.
So what the heck is the break in connection between our actually being new creatures and our walking out that newness in real life? And how do we fix it?
Is it our 'humanity' getting in the way of our abiding in the vine and preventing us from truly being changed from the inside out? You bet it is. Six simple words. Ready?
"After all, I am only human... (long humble sigh...)"
And with those six words, we have fashioned tight-fitting handcuffs for God's hands, where He longs to change us, to woo us to Himself, to give us victory over the world, the flesh and the devil, but..... He cannot.
You see, we have bitten from the apple on this one, guys. The ultimate "Hath God said...." has been hissed out of the mouth of our enemy, and we have bought it hook, line and sinker. He CANNOT fulfill His promises to us. Why? Because of those six words.
God has promised to make us overcomers, victorious over the world, the flesh and the devil, but those six words have locked the Holy Spirit out. Is it any wonder why Jesus is outside knocking to come in in the last days?
Look, it matters not what the promise is to us, it can be.... no, WILL BE...gutted of its power, stripped of its authority, by our simply repeating those six simple words. Here they are again.
"After all, we are only human."
Six words of pure unbelief. And worse yet, they are neatly tucked under a canopy of false humility. As if we are 'pressing for victory' but it somehow eludes us. C'mon. Real world here again please. LOL.
Unbelief. The sin underlying all of our other sins, and we as His body are about to be cleansed and set free from it. Faith in the one who made the promises to us as a birthright, is about to lead us to abiding in Him.
You see, the six words of man's inherent unbelief is about to be overridden by our new seven-words-of-God catch phrase from the God who CANNOT lie. Ready?
I am a new creature in Christ.
Glory! The church is about to be re-lit. Can you imagine? Wow! Can these bones live? You bet.
blessings,
Gids
