including judas?

Ephesians 2
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

So the Rock includes Judas and the Prophets of the OT as well?

some people say that jesus was talking about himself about the rock matthew 16:18
Whether about Himself or the simple statement of faith made by Peter - it is clear that it was not an affirmation of the travesty certain organizations have made of the meaning of the statement.

It reminds me of what the same people have done with the simple acknowledgment that God has extended toward the faith of Mary.

I really doubt that either Peter or Mary are currently troubled by what has been done in their name - being in glory as they are.

But if they could see what some have done in their name - particularly as it relates to the obscuring of the simple gospel of salvation by grace through faith - they would likely roll over in their graves.

Obviously not. Jesus cannot be speaking to all the Apostles when he says "Thou are Peter and upon this rock...."

He says "you are Petros" and "on this rock (petra)" not "and on you"...Yeshua had a knack for nicknaming His apostles. You have to build something on a firm foundation. That foundation was Peter's confession who Yeshua was.

If the interpretation is to be that narrow, it is apparent that Peter's show of a lack of faith which followed almost immediately and brought a stern rebuke from Christ would have ended it.

Are you questioning the scripture or me?
The scripture contains truth......your interpretation of them.....maybe not always.

It is wise to only quote scripture and leave interpretation to God. Had this been done at the start, I would not have replied.

matthew 16:18
You notice in the previous scripture Jesus said, for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Matt.16:17 speaking of Peter saying, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Matt.16:16 So, Jesus was probably thrilled that Peter was starting to hear God's voice within, was finally getting it. Jesus knew Peter was not all the way there yet, for he prophesied about being denied 3 times later on. The rock was Peter at the time,Jesus had named him so but once Peter understood completely when the Spirit came in Acts, then Peter was one with Christ/God and filled with power. Peter had previously had Jesus heal his mother but after Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit then he too was healing and performing miracles. It is all the same power, Christ and Peter were one with God. Then, in the next verse he gives the keys to the kingdom, to bind and loose, that is, to allow or forbid. Glory to God, very powerful!

Jesus IS God.

John 10:30
I and the Father are one.”

Colossians 2:9
For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,

John 14:9
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Psalms 89:26

He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’

The rock that Jesus is building the church on is Peters statement that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God!

Peter is "petros" a stone or pebble
rock is Petra--- a huge rock, like a massive boulder.
So the little stone declared the foundation of the big stone, that Jesus is the Christ!

The rock is Jesus, upon this ( Peters confession that Jesus is the son of God) He would build his church. Not upon Peter himself.

Jesus was speaking directly to the Apostle Simon when He said "I say unto you that YOU are Petros (which means "Rock") (English - Peter), and upon this Rock I will build my Church". It couldn't be clearer. And its meaning is obvious from history. That one Church, built upon the authority of Peter and His successors, remains one in belief, one in teaching, one in worship, one in biblical understanding throughout the world after 2,000 years. While those who have defected from His Church have fragmented into thousands of conflicting manmade denominations teaching thousands of contradictory beliefs, in just a few hundred years.

hence the nickname...you seem to forget, Yeshua named Peter this when they met in John 1:42

but your church left Orthodoxy in 1054 AD...all those daughter denominations sprang from you...

Right. But Peter's statement is not a rock or pebble or boulder.

It is Truth, It is the Foundation of the Church of Christ.

Jesus is the Christ the son of the living God.

That's it like it or not, Peter was a follower of Christ nothing more.

your church always seem to forget that Yeshua named Peter this when they first met in John 1:24 so obviously it does NOT have the meaning the RCC says it does...

He was the first to determined the truth about the Messiah thus, became the first "rock" which eventually becomes the Church.
Except Peter was not the first. That honour fell to Nathanael.

But it was his speech that was heard by each listener in his own language--a miracle which brought the conversions that are recorded.
Act 2:14 onward does not suggest they they heard Peter's subsequent speech in their own languages.

The rock was the revelation from the Father that Peter received.

Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church;
