If God won't help with what I actually need, why bother with Him?

If this is truly how you feel, then you don't know God.

Hey brother,

I don't doubt there might be some truth to that, only God knows. Before responding, dig a little deeper. I wasn't sure if Question Brother was a troll, or someone truly struggling. I think I found the answer.

From Question Brother from this post:
If God doesn't care what I want, why should I care what he wants?

"My wife had had 3 strokes since June. Things have been tough with medical coverage (lots of complications with the insurance). On top of that, many complications at work also. I can work on those, but the strokes, no one EXCEPT God can help. I don't want his hand on my shoulder. I want him to fix the problems."

I encourage our brothers and sisters to pray for this poor soul and his family. When love ones get sick right before our eyes it can be very painful and debilitating. I know from experience.

I pray the OP finds peace in this valley. I pray the OP receives the help they need for finances and health. I know how draining it can be to be without both.

Those of you who are ridiculing this person for expressing their heart, I have no appropriate response.

I need, to be honest, money. I need healing for my wife. I need to be protected from problems. I need actual material fixes, not spiritual ones. I don't want them. I have no desire for them AT ALL! God could give me the entirety of the spiritual power he has, and it would not mean much to me. So if he won't help with what I need, why should I bother?

God is into material fixes, but how much are your "needs" are selfish, and how much God-honoring? Do you already have true faith in God the Father through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection? How much do you praise God for creating you and your wife? Why should you bother with him? He may be letting you have needs in order to teach you true faith or trust in him and your need to grow in your faith. Read the book of Job and the Psalms, in which people of faith cry out to him in prayer focused on him in personal relationships with him.

We tend to be moved by what we feel, see, hear. What moves God what pleases God is faith. I need to stand on what that BIBLE says. Not what any man/woman says. What comes to mind is 'Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." <---its easy to see this as OT written for Israel or someone else. As much as that is true.. it was written for you..for this moment. Not made up.. not a nice thought.

Every pain and tears you shed.. He feels and cries. So much for what His children do not see or know. He is for you.. not against you. We expect Him to act to do something.. we made this mess so to speak. Satan is the god of this world. As long as he (Satan) can get us to believe there is no hope.. God is made or could careless.. as long as we BELIEVE that aka FAITH..works both ways.. Satan wins. Greater is HE (Christ in you) than he thats in the world. Christ said.. I give you more power then the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Christ said what ever you desire when you pray.. believe you receive it you shall have it. What ever you ask the Father in my name He will do it. Ask me anything I will do it.

See the problem here is... so many of us have no clue if HE wants to do this.. or we even deserve it. The man that had leprosy.. said.. I know you can to Christ..but do you want to? Or the man that said.. I believe.. help my unbelief. Takes a moment to get right with God.. just repent.. mean it. Then KNOW no matter how you feel hear see... KNOW He years you. In the OT and NT its written GOD always hears the righteous. Thats all those that know Jesus as lord. And if you know He hears you.. then you know you have the petitions/prayers you asked for. Gods will? What is it? ITS HIS WORD! If its written in that word its YOURS!

And yes.. He cares about your needs.. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. <--read that? DONT DOUBT! He said SHALL! its not what I say or anyone else.. its what that word..says.. He is for you.. no matter what it looks like sounds like feels like.. KNOW HE WILL HELP! He said.. anyone that calls on His name shall be delivered. KNOW GOD CAN NOT LIE! If I offended forgive me.. just tell me and I will say sorry.. praying for you. I can promise..GOD is working and doing something wonderful! In Jesus name.. I KNOW He hears me

We are just so moved by ..if its not done right when we expect it.. we doubt. He has not give up on you. :) what you dont see is.. all of this.. is Satan lying. God IS moving in your life. When something comes up.. speak His word.. fear? NO..God has not given me the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. And if it was me and I had trouble having faith.. I would get people from Church preacher who ever that has faith to pray.. lay hands on your wife.. whats His word say? Lay hands on the sick they SHALL recover. Peter and John.,. why look at us as if we did this under our own power..its FAITH in HIS NAME!

I don't know if I have an answer for you, matey, but I can at least understand where you're coming from. I've wrestled with Him several times , walked away from Him, demanded of Him and lost faith in him. For me, God took the place of my actual Dad and, like all kids growing up, you have ups and downs with your parents. The relationship with God is a living, changing one and I completely empathize with how you feel.

Bruce: no amount of pain or trouble will bring me closer to him or make me trust him more. Just the opposite. It will ONLY drive me from him.

Blade: I did ALL of that. I prayed and believed, I laid hands and had others as well, and what happened? Nothing. If anything it got worse. This experience even reminded me that I should have given up on His help decades ago. When I was young(jr high). My father became ill and I had to take care of him while mom worked. He died after about 2 years of that. I had to clean up after him including body waste. Shortly after I believed. I prayed to God not to have to do that again. I didn't catch it the second time he put that in my life, when I had to do it again for my mom. She had heart issues when I was in college.(living at home and going to local university). Now that this is the third time,(He confirms things in 3's, right?) I realized that he said no to this particular prayer 20 years ago.

To the sympathizers: thank you for your prayers.
