Abraham and Lot: Two Christian walks

Lord we welcome all who come here in your Holy Name. May your Holy Spirit direct our discussion and to apply to our lives the walk You would have tread as You lead us through the Valley of Death. when abram was called to come out of the city why did he take Lot after what Lord told him to do.?

Hi Bougti, how good it is for brothers to dwell in unity. What do we make of the Lord's call to separate Abram before his rebirth, as Abraham. When God added to Abram's name it came with a breathing out and the Lord imparting part of Himself, the breathing out of the Spirit and Abraham became a new creature a reborn man. But the part that God specifically told Abram not to take his relatives. When I saw this command violated I believe I know how, when and where it all went wrong. Back in biblical days names had meanings. Jacob means Schemer and we saw him continually doing just that scheming. Jacob's name warned of what you could expect. What might be a warning to Abram was what Lot's name meant, Concealed. Whenever we are called into His service or in the run of our lives we must conceal anything it should be a warning to us, not to keep it in the dark and out of the Light.

With Abram and Lot we have been given two very different walks of the Christian walk through this world. Very interesting to see these two walks and see where we may need to change part of our walk and how we can walk the path Father Abraham walked for our learning or the walk of Lot given as a warning. Part of Abram's error in taking Lot soon begins to be revealed greed and carnality and this leads not to unity but to strife. How do you like how the Lord used Abram's error in taking Lot? Man plans his ways but God directs his steps. So what do you see is different between Abraham the spiritual believer and Lot the carnal believer and where do they lead us to?

I met the Lord when I was very young. My family was not believers but I made a friend whose family did believe. I was allowed to go yo Church with them and the Lord began Shepherding me even when I did not realize He was doing so. I always knew He was real and He was taking care of me and would not desert me. He has been shepherding me since that time.

What do you think of how Abraham who has been given the promise of the land lets his carnal relative choose instead of Abraham taking his right. Abraham had faith in God care for Him and did not need to pick first for Abraham's separation from Lot or what was concealed in his life. I am still trying to take the road Abraham walked but sometimes I find my way troubled by something I am keeping concealed and choose the carnal and mix it with my walk. I end up at Sodom and Gomorrah the present world we dwell in. Like Lot I am greatly distressed by the overwhelming sin of this people and the city they dwell in.

I have a tendency to ramble when talking about our Lord and His Word. May the Lord grant that as we share the journey may we dwell in unity. God's blessings
